Y'know I always was thinking that Tetris had the easy job of just building up Terises and TSpin doubles and garbage spamming Puyo to where it could barely even move, but seeing how Puyota plays and seeing just how mindblazingly fast Wumbo is playing in this set, this is hard work just to make sure you aren't 8 chained into oblivion.
I don't really know who has it worse at this level of play, because if Puyota made the big bulky matches come at the end of the chain instead of the 2nd or 3rd chain, he could blast Wumbo away much easier.
don't u have to clear those blocks to make sure you can even make an 8 chain because it doesn't matter if u have an 8 chain set up if you've already lost
It's obvious it's far easier for tetris players at this level. I won't say Puyota is better than Wumbo, because I just don't know and it's hard to compare two different games, but I don't think the score reflects anything here and i consider them equals. It's almost impossible for a puyo player to do something if garbage is sent too fast, that's why at high level, when the tetris player reaches a certain speed, it just becomes near unplayable for a puyo players. You have to understand the insane level of skills puyota have. Some very rare puyo players, no actually one single japanese puyo player named mfmfgaupon (one of the japanese gods at puyo) manage to defend better against tetris because 1.he trained for years only to play the best way to beat tetris (while the tetris player just have to play more or less the same way, p v p and p v t are two entirely different games for puyo players with two different trainings) 2. they are the best in the world and in Japan puyo is like 10 times more competitively than tetris. I honestly think that even if mfmfgaupon would probably just equal or be little bit lower than Wumbo in score if they played, in terms of skills mfmfgaupon is better, yes better than god.
It also doesn't help, that as far as I can see at least, that garbage tends to completely block off the Puyo player from combos, while garbage for Tetris players doesn't stop their previously established combos.
@@aliesterus1.023 And in many cases it actually helps them with a continuation of a combo or a free Tetris, their damage comes out near instantly while mines can tae several seconds for large attacks, my garbage falls slowly, theirs rises instantly, I can't set up a 10 chain then see a weakpoint and decide to just cut it mid chain to hit before they can react, so if you get 4-wided and you need a 12, they could just wait until you can't set off your chain and send garbage immediately, or if you don't extend they just keep going, Puyo player can barely set up a 2-double in the time it takes Tetris player to make T-spin, but theirs just comes out instantly and let's them keep building so you are punished for defending because you fall behind, so you have to tae every hit and hope for the best, but 7/8 chins doesn't even ill, and against that constant harassment it takes equally large amounts of skill and piece/garbage luck. At least in Puyo I know that if I get harassed lie that they are using resources at the same rate as me if I defend or that if I take the hits and manage an 8 chain that they will be behind, or that I can seal them off and follow-up it's hard to see a win condition for Puyo, survive 2 minutes and hope margin time is enough? Puyo wins take a long time and a big struggle with consistent 2 minutes+ of luck, Tetris wins happen so fast and effortlessly. Against themselves it's easy to see the sill of both players, here all you see is a massacre.
@@5688gamble I've also heard that when it comes to top tier Puyo vs top tier Tetris, there's like, only one person who could reliably beat a Tetris player? And reportedly they actually specifically developed their skill against Tetris.

He countered a double tetris and sent enough garbage to make Wumbo do two tetris and a triple to defend against it. And he still received garbage...
Tetris players have an unfair advantage, so much that nothing comes up when looking for top puyo player. Tetris received all modern changes: holding piece, seeing outline, T spins, Combos, perfect clear. If you were playing classic tetris maybe this would be fair, seeing 5 pieces in advance. Puyo is classic and has no such buffs. As it is now puyo puyo needs a big buff/changes.
I think it has to do with the speed of clearing rather than the lack of a hold button. With Tetris you can instantly spam another piece after clearing a line. For Puyo you must wait until the combo is complete in order to place another piece which can take over 5 seconds. Just look at how many pieces Wumbo places in five seconds.
And for me the Puyo player wins.

In Puyo puyo tetris 2 the gap between Tetris and Puyo Puyo is a lot less after they changed how much garbage is put onto the Puyo side. The difference between this is super apparent

To be honest I don't now why either player would want to play this mode, it's no challenge for the Tetris player and there is no reasonable win condition for Puyo, both games are fun and take a lot of sill at a high level but it'd be lie having a soccer vs football match where the footballers get more points, are allowed to tackle and hold the ball and have an open goal but the soccer players are only able to touch the ball with their feet and slamming the opponent into the ground is strictly prohibited. I like that it has made more people aware of Puyo Puyo and inspired players lie Doremy and Wumbo to pic up the game but perhaps only TvT PvP and swap are fair as both players are on an even ground, it's about how good you are at both and mains in both games have a chance!

@@icelingbolt maybe it could help in puyo vs tetris (even if the main problem is the time the puyos take to pop during a combo), but it would destroy entirely the perfect balance in puyo vs puyo, trust me in that case it's worthless it changes the meta into a speedfest mess. That's the reason it's not accepted in puyo vs puyo, the normal pace makes the matches more technical in terms of observation and more precise for example. Honestly if puyo was too different during p vs t matches, it would just mess the minds of puyo players. No, I think the (imperfect) solution is to make to damages toward tetris a little slower to appear, and not as easy to use afterward.
