Trumptonshire Tunes: Windy Miller

- CAMBERWICK GREEN is a small, picturesque village in Trumptonshire. Each week the villagers undergo such domestic crises as a shortage of flour; a swarm of bees; a water shortage; and rumours of an unwanted electrical sub-station being built in the village. At the end of each episode the narrator bids farewell to the puppet character who was seen at the beginning, and the latter disappears back into the musical box.
The series was written and produced by Gordon Murray in 1966. Music was by Freddie Phillips, and narration and song vocals were provided by Brian Cant.
Windy Miller lives in Colly's Mill, a windmill which has its own particular rhythmic sound when turning. Hendy is known for brewing his own cider, which makes him very 'sleepy'. He rejects modern ways and prefers to live a self sufficient life. He keeps a cow for milk and free range chickens for eggs. Windy is superstitious and believes in whistling for the wind and that touching a chimney sweep's collar brings good luck.

Windy Miller, you are the man, the dude, the cool one. I really remember watching these with Camberwick Green and Chigley, they gave my childhood so much enjoyment, and probably gave my now passed on mother a bit of peace, while I watched these great programmes. On the other show called 'Dumpton' which was a piss take, but used the same original show. It's hilarious to anyone who was brought up on these great shows. There was a post from someone called Kevin, who's dad had done a lot of the work on all of these shows, he really was the one who done the work, yet all he got was 'assisted by' in the titles. They threw him on the scrapheap after all the years of hard work with hardly any recognition, as his son said his dad was shafted by these corporate bastard's. I am so grateful to Kevin's dad for the hard work he done to bring us these great programmes that meant so much to a generation of children and their mothers. These programmes are now so iconic. I'm so glad to have been brought up with these magnificent shows 😊👍

And why isn't he black and gay ? Why aren't the sails painted different colours to represent the LBGT+ people but at least they go anti clockwise which means they are veering to the left.Look the flour coming out of the mill is white ,how racist.

Never understood why Windy Miller had a windmill with the door in line with the sails. Was he suicidal?
