23:06 When you say you went back & reviewed every case this detective ever investigated I got CHILLS! Ive always had a similar fire in my belly that kicks in a hyper focused determination whenever I see things that get under my skin in a special way. I remember it starting in elementary school when kids would make fun of the “smelly kids” in class. If I see something being done wrongfully to an undeserving or innocent person, I get such an intense desire to thoroughly right those wrongs!
I started watching this video to wind down for sleep. Big mistake 😂 I’m so invested I can feel my adrenaline rising 😅 You two are exceptional story tellers! I am so glad I found your channel! ❤

Loved this quote from the prosecutor in that case: “We strongly rejected this defendant's claim of innocence and opposed the bogus arguments that led to his release, knowing it was only a matter of time before he would re-offend," County Attorney Bill Montgomery said in a statement released Monday. "We take no satisfaction in being correct in our prediction."

A broad daylight attack in a public place, that the subject is not greatly familiar with does not sound like a first time perpetrator. Has anyone checked unsolved and/or cold SA cases in the place he moved to ARZ from. ("back east") you said. I do not recall a case ever with a first time offender being this bold. Check his high school and after as well as family members. Any chance that's the reason his family moved from wherever "back east" he came from?

1:19 oooh JUICY!!! I loooooove a call out!!! I also LOVE the timing of this episode 😉 People need to be more aware of how often wrongful convictions happen! I actually looked up the statistics of this last year & it took my breath away! I couldn’t believe it. The most shocking statistic was the percentage of it being due to police misconduct!!

Didn't the Innocence Project handle the Steven Avery case? What do you think of that case? Some of the facts of the Steven Avery case were left out of the Netflix special that point to him being guilty. I guess defense attorney's can be equally overzealous and guilty men sometimes are set free...it is not just prosecutors and LE who get it wrong sometimes. Just like the "me too" movement help to get justice for actual victims but there were people who manipulate and controlled false narratives as a means to an end for some sort of clout or virtue signal...which diminishes the suffering of real victims. Why we need professionals with integrity to separate the wheat from the chaff!

  • @moonbeam385

Wow, great episode! I had to stop the video half a dozen times just to assimilate all the elements on this case as it was presented.
That investigative nose, the almost psychic urge to pay close attention to a certain aspect, person or individual piece of evidence is pure *gold*! It can save so many so much aggravation. Good call, Sy!
On the other hand, it shows how people with something to hide always try to appear to cooperate instead of exercising their constitutional right to legal counsel during interrogation. I mean, there is a fine line sometimes between a police interview and a police interrogation.
I have volunteered my name and even spelled it for cops looking for a suspect out in the street a block from my house. No problem.
But if l feel pressed to "cooperate", that's called an interrogation and it's a good idea to have legal rep present.
Thanks for keeping it real, guys! Sending lots of love from Vancouver Island 🇨🇦🕊️🇺🇲

    Interesting episode.
I like how you began with the other side first. There were many 🚩 that I doubted his innocence, but the main one was I kept wondering what the dna did to help prove anything when the friend intervened. I thought I must have missed something and then you clarified why I was right 😀 If you hadn’t cleared that up, I was going to ask in my comment about that.
I think it’s great when people help the innocent, but sometimes they help the wrong people.

As I’m listening to this, while mowing, I pick up a mini tequila bottle that was thrown into my yard along with an empty pack of cigarettes. I put it down near the driveway so I can throw them away after mowing. At this point I’m half listening to this because my brain starts going through all these scenarios that could happen because someone decided to throw their trash out the window.
What if that person committed a crime and the police are trying to find evidence and I’ve just put my fingerprints on this bottle. It’s been raining for a week so I’m sure previous prints are gone and now mine are on there. Lol then I go to throw the trash away but I don’t want to put it in my house trash can because now the “evidence” is in my home. So I open a trash bag that was in the outside trash can and put it in there.
Then the next scenario plays out..
(I’m personally in my 15yr of sobriety.) So I think…What if I was weak or only had a couple yrs of sobriety and this idiot dumps his liquor in my yard which causes me to start drinking. I’ve always heard that those that fall off the wagon start off at the amount they left off which really messes them up. So then I’m plastered but now have to pick up my daughter from school. However I don’t make it there because I crashed into a car with a family inside killing the children. The parents are so grieve stricken that they spiral downward. The mom looks outside the marriage that eventually breaks up another marriage and in return the children are affected. And so on and so on the actions of one person have affected so many others lives
I’m sorry this is so long. I’m huge on teaching my children that everything we do affects so many people that we will never be aware of. A nice gesture at a store calms an angry man who might have had road rage resulting harming someone. Or a dirty look at a teen could have been the last straw she needed to harm herself. While we aren’t responsible for others actions, we do have a hand in their actions. We as a society play a part in every good and bad deed. So, while the victim in SY’s case didn’t want to testify because it would crush a family she let someone who is into child p*rn go free. Who knows if he harmed any children or will harm once he is released. While saving a family of heartache she puts children in harm of this sick bast*rd.

I don't understand why innocent people would confess. I understand the pressure of a long interrogation can get to you. But I'd rather go through that and maintain my innocence over years in prison. I wouldn't think I'd want to understand the mind of someone who confesses just for clout, but curiosity gets the best of me. Maybe because I have trust issues and I find myself looking for certain things when I meet a guy. If I feel uncomfortable I'm walking away and avoiding him. I'm a survivor of ling term SA as a child. I was spot on about several creepers. There's something about the eyes but I can't explain it. This guy doesn't have "the look". This case is interesting.
