    This game is amazing and worth the try. This is coming from a dedicated MMORPG gamer since '95. This game has what you are looking for. TRUST.

    Been playing for a couple years, I'm a huge lord of the rings fan so this game is everything I've ever looked for in a game. I've tried every class and their all awesome in different ways. I definitely recommend this game to everyone.

      @@napyet I have mixed feelings. It's a cool class from what I've seen on beta but I'm a little unsure if a hulk the size of a hobbit belongs in middle earth, it's supposed to be based on helm hammerhand which is cool but also not very common in middle earth. So as a class it's awesome but I'm not 100% sure about it fitting into the lore of the game.

    Great video, thank you. I'm happy everytime when I see something like this. This great game is totally underrated in today MMO worlds. Lotro is still breathing and still growing in fun which offers and needs only more and more players. I'm back again and some king of "oldschooldness" is that thing why I'm again in. All today modern MMO's are trying to make things as easy as possible and loosing it sense of character. Yesterday I was in a Bree and group of players with lanterns danced around me in a circle and It had a lot of that sense of how kind is the community in this game :) I've seen a lot of guides for recently used ReShade software, also from official LOTRO streamers, to improve Post Processing effects which improving graphics in some aspects.

      Ah! I'm familiar with Reshade so I might give it a go but honestly I like the graphics as they are! Graphics are pretty low on my list of priorities however, I'd play as a single square pixel if the story and gameplay are good!

    Great review ! I'm on the same page as you , I left wow about a month ago and just hit the max level in lotro and started the endgame I wish I would have discovered it sooner as the experience is quite enjoyable, the endgame is fully fledged with raiding, dungeons, player housing and some sporadic pvp in monster play. Having played free to play to almost max level before subbing I felt like I got great value, the community has been great to me as a new player learning the ropes.

      Great to hear you went all that way sticking with the FTP stuff - I'm hoping to do the same and just unlock things when and where I need to. I think a video all about the various FTP models might be a timely and useful comparison for people.

      @@napyet also from what I found as long as you do most of the quest and a couple of deeds in zones you go through you should get enough lotro points to kinda pick the packs you want or other forms of content and upgrades if you wish to stay f2p, but the monetization is changing this year so I'm now sure how much longer it will be relevant.

    The only real thing I didn’t like about the F2P model for Lotro is that the quests, except for the main storyline, were locked unless you were a subscriber or bought a quest pack for whichever zone you’re in. But if you dive into the deed system it’s pretty easy to earn enough points to unlock the quests that way. As well as everything else in the game. The last two expansions I’ve bought using just Lotro points. Also a short time into the whole COVID pandemic, the developers gave out a code that unlocked all the quest packs that were available in the game. That gave F2P players a ton of content for free. However I’ve been subscribed since I started playing back when Moria was added Such a great MMO and one that you can get yourself lost in for hours upon hours. I primarily play solo so there are dungeons I’ll never be able to see, but even so at this point I don’t think there is any video game I’ve put more time into than Lotro. Well maybe Minecraft. Regardless, for those that have never tried it, give it a look if you have any interest in Tolkien’s world.

      @napyet  3 роки тому

      Thanks Geo - I'm primarily a solo player too but hoping to group when people are online and free. I think my days of arranging raids is over though! Lotro actually reminds me a lot of a single player RPG in terms of the way the world looks and feels. I couldn't really figure out why so I omitted mentioning this in the video. I can't quite nail down what I mean!

    I love LOTR, have been since I was a kid.
    Been playing MMO's for years and leveling experience has always been my most favourite. I've played LOTRO on/off for few years and STILL don't have a max level character because I find the leveling experience in LOTRO really burns me out.
    My highest level character (roughly guessing) is around level 100-105. Normally hitting max level for me, takes roughly few days to a week. But LOTRO, when I was leveling my Captain, when I hit level 60+ took me like 2-3 weeks. After taking another few weeks to 100+, I just burnt out and stopped playing. I would LOVE to experience the endgame, but every time I try to come back and level, the burn out kicks in after half way..
    Maybe because I'm playing solo (no friends irl to play with *sadface*) and it seems lfg dungeons felt non-existence until you hit max.
    I still watch other youtubers cover lotro. Just shame for me, the leveling takes WAY to long to level to max.

    • @napyet
      @napyet  3 роки тому +1

      I get that and often feel similar when I'm enthused about playing a game. I'm trying to deliberately slow myself down and enjoy the scenery in this game to see if it alleviates the burn out. We shall see! Thanks for the comment Gimlisk.

    I think you'll really like the art style and music of FFXIV. ESO has combat that is twitchy and fun, I like how everything gets scaled to your level. LOTRO is definitely worth playing, the classes are all very unique and I love the atmosphere, especially the old forest at Tom Bombadil's house. I could see people not liking the graphics in LOTRO, there's also the clown armor aspect you mentioned in one of the first videos, but now you can just create an appearance costume to get around that.

    One thing to note, and this makes me sad, is if you're playing on a resolution higher than 1080p, the system UI objects (menu, quest windows, character profile window, bags, tooltips, and similar) cannot be scaled up. So they're microscopic, making the text next to impossible to read unless you have eagle eyes. I recently tried to hop back in, but since I couldn't see the text without being six inches from my monitor, and no way to fix that, I just couldn't play. This is something that's been reported numerous times, so they know about it. But there's sign of them ever fixing it. :(

    After the lone lands you will have to buy. Either individual zones or subscribe. After level 50 you have to buy expansions even if you subscribe. Buy those during Black Friday sales.

      I spent roughly $2000 in ten+ years with WOW. You have to spend that just to start playing all the 10 year old content on Lotro and even then you'll be left wanting. It's a whale game. I like it, but it needs old xpacs to be bundled.

    • @Caerulean
      @Caerulean 3 роки тому

      @@waldorf2007 (YT kept auto-deleting my comment for whatever reason.) $2,000? Not $200? 'Cause $2,000 seems like such an exaggeration. $200 can get you 23,000 LP (LOTRO Points) or more if bought during a sale, which happen throughout the year. The Eriador bundle costs 3,995 LP (regular price) and that unlocks all pre-Moria content. $60 gets you 6,300 LP. $60 also now unlocks the Moria to Mordor expansions through the Expansion Trove pack. That's a good 60-70% of the game unlocked for you which, depending on how much you play, can take years for you to get through.
      Personally, I believe you don't need to get through all the quest packs and expansions, especially for new players. It can get very easy to out-level each zone, and the game is still fairly free-to-play with ways to earn LP for free and some free content to help you level up through the gaps.
      -
      The game can be priced better, definitely, but it's also definitely not as expensive to play and enjoy as people seem to think.

    • @Caerulean
      @Caerulean 3 роки тому +1

      @@Servidor_Publico_do_Ancapistao Spent wisely, you can get as much content in LOTRO if not more for the same price, and LOTRO is one of the largest MMOs in terms of world size. It's honestly all about which game you like better. I'm not saying LOTRO is better, to clarify. I'm saying LOTRO is not *that* expensive all things considered. It's mostly just not as well-monetized as the more successful MMOs, which is a fault I think is slowly getting addressed since the beginning of this year, and I hope the improvement in that regard continues.
      On a human level, I don't think it's fair to compare. While yes, the monetization needs work, Standing Stone Games is a smaller company handling two MMOs at once.

    Have to purchase low level areas to progress (or sub);
    Have to purchase expensions (subs do not have access to them, have to purchase separately);
    The Expension Trove is a ripoff;
    They charge you to be able to ride horses, they charge for inventory expansion, to remove gold cap, to listen more items on AH, to have more bank space, for new races, for new classes, to be able to create more characters, to access other creepers in PvMP, you can pay to teleport to the NPC quest, have to pay for more than 2 outfit slots, they charge you to UNLOCK CLASS PASSIVES (totally madness), charge you for virtues and race's passives.
    Game lacks security, your account is very vulnerable, no authenticator, e-mail authentication, none, just the old and outdate username and password.
