- With the recent announcement of Project Sakura Wars, the interest in the series has again been sparked, with more and more players wanting to get into it.
Unfortunately, as there is only one game in the series released in the west, many fans only way to experience the original, was with large translation guides..
BUT NOW, an English translation patch has been released for the game, and now Western audiences may enjoy this game, as if it was released on the Saturn in it's hey-day!

Fun Facts: Sakura Wars was rated as the 13th best game of all time in a 2006 Famitsu poll, with all the main entries then released also appearing in the list. Sakura herself was rated in 2009 by Famitsu as the 17th best Japanese video game character.
And Sakura Shinguji is 3rd most popular SEGA character in Japan, behind only Sonic and Alex The Kidd.

While I prefer the Dreamcast version myself, this is an incredible first step in familiarizing the West with the series' roots, especially with Project: Sakura Wars right around the corner.
So other than the 1st game how many others have been fan-translated?
Can't get this to work with Rhea. I've read of some people getting it to work but the patched file goes to menu and nothing recognizes the included files to convert or patch.
TGApuleius I ran into a similar issue, had to burn to a disc Initially. I’ve found if you burn the patched game to a disc, and rip that disc to the ccd img sub format, it will work. Might be able to mount it virtually and rip that way too.

This may be a stupid question and I dont mean any disrespected to the hard work that the translators put in, but why wasnt the PS2 version translated? Didnt Sega released updated version of the game for Ps2, with better visuals and some aditions? Isnt it also easier to translate games from PS2 than Dreamcast?
I asked the devs about it, and it was due to the technical team being more Saturn orientated, the interest of working on a Saturn game, and the tool availability to debug and work on a Saturn game compared to a PS2 game.

KaiSaeren Maybe if another team wants to pick up the effort to translate the PS2 version. The team indicated to me they are focused on Saturn titles though.
After the massive disappointment of Shining Force III IMO, I'm glad we got a GOOD first-party SEGA SRPG on Saturn... even if I'm really not big on the dating sim or vis nov side of the game. Definitely gotta check this out after seeing the godlike work done on the Bulk Slash translation, I just gotta make sure no one else is home to walk in on me romancing an anime girl lol
Luckily, China had official releases of Sakura Wars on PC. To be honest PC versions always existed and easy to redistribute... I wonder no one tried to import that...
Imagine if/when we get a Saturn Mini and it has Castlevania, Dead or Alive, Panzer Dragoon Saga, and the fan translations of Sakura Wars, Grandia, Policenauts, and others. Sega could rewrite history in a sense and show us what we could have had in America if we didn't have that fucking idiot Bernie Stolar at the helm of SOA during the Saturn's lifetime.

Guys just grab the PC version and play on PC. No need to invest in a Saturn to enjoy this masterpiece.
Is the English translation on pc? No. And it’s not a drag and drop process
@@chanhjohnnguyen1867 You are missing out a lot. The PC version is fully voiced whereas the Saturn version is not.
Been here done that. I played the original in Japanese. It's okay but the gameplay is horrible.
3:28 language nazi here. There is no such thing as "the most optimal". Something is or isn't optimal. Since "optimal" means "best" things cannot be "the most best".
