Thank you so much! This worked for me. I was only able to test my discs on an emulator (I'm waiting on receiving an Psuedo Saturn Action Replay to play them on my actual Saturn), but it worked just fine. I knew buying a copy of the game all those years ago would pay off one day.
I am bit confused with this process :( wouldn't it be easier to upload disk image with already applied translation patch?
the back up IMG files that I got aint cutting it. then I remember I do have the game, coz all this time I thought i had the dreamcast version
How do you switch discs in mednafen? The game doesn't see my save files if I start disc 2 up ! If I use the F8 F6 F8 method it just reboots my virtual saturn...Help?
Is there any way to do this with a ROM? I extracted the .iso files but the patch won't work
This is great, but I'm having a problem with the fact that I have a Japanese Saturn (long story short: was in love with Sakura Wars for years, finally went to Japan in 2009 and bought a Saturn and all the Sakura Wars games/fandiscs/etc. for it). All information I've been finding on Action Replay and Pseudo Saturn seems to be applicable for North American Saturns. Does either one work on a Japanese Saturn? Is it necessary for a Japanese Saturn? Do you or anyone out there have a handle on what my options might be?
Hey, did you find an answer? I'm considering getting a Japanese saturn as well. From what I've seen online the pseudo saturn should work for both a Japanese one and western console as in being able to play Japanese games on a western console and vice versa?
Isobuster keeps reading my disk as a hard disk instead of a CD so I can't follow this guide. Is there anyone who knows how to fix this or any other program that will work to extract from the CD?
It's a nice patch but it's weird how the lip syncing is all gone now. Why are the voice acted characters now all static?
Lip syncs were patterned after the text files. English messed it up cause the game read the wrong part
I used imgburn, pointing to the iso (not the cue). I haven’t tested yet. Am I supposed to point it to the cue file?
Hi. So my gaming pc doesn't have a CD/DVD drive. With that said, is it still possible to do the ripping with ISO buster? Or have I just walked myself into a dead end?
do you need the chip to play the burned disk ?
What kind of action replay card is recommended ? i have a japanese saturn.
I was also wondering that, since I actually went to Japan and bought a Saturn and all the Sakura Wars games for it in a used video game store in Akihabara!
Am I out of luck if my gaming pc doesn't have a spot to accept a disc? I want to give this game a try and don't speak Japanese so can someone please tell me if its possible without a disc drive.
Can't the English patch of the original game be downloaded on like a blank disc?
Will this work on a mac ?
Are these patches unable to be put onto the original Sakura Wars discs? From how you mention it at the end with the burned disc, it seems like they cannot be overwritten on the original discs themselves.
Your original Japanese retail game disc cannot be altered in any way. However, you can 'rip' the game image from your retail disc, and then patch that ripped image. Once you've done that, you can burn said patched image to a CD-R or transfer it to an SD card for an Optical Drive Emulator (ODE).
For the life of me I can't get this thing to work
Make sure the disc you're using to patch works first in the Saturn (As in, does it work in Japanese first). Also, when you used ISOBuster, did the 2 files created get called "Track 01" and "Track 02"? If not, you'll need to rename them as the CUE file directs to that file name.
I have done the patching correctly but the game hangs when having to display the text after the first video and chapter screen. Playing on a real unmodded Saturn by the way.
@referral madness No this is not necessary, I have been playing many translated games without any problem, only Sakura Wars has a problem. That's really strange.
@referral madness I have precisely followed the instructions in the read-me file, extracting the iso from my original physical copy of the game. I verified that the images had the correct checksum. I am used to this process as I have successfully applied patches using my original games : Shining Force III scenario 2 & 3, Dragon Force II, Policenauts and Linkle Liver Story (I have a pretty big Saturn collection).
Also the game boots and seem to work perfectly fine, I get the updated title screen etc... It hangs when having to display text in the text box at the bottom of the screen. Very strange...
@referral madness I will try to reach them eventually, but my guess would be a "new bug". Thanks
@referral madness I upped a topic there with my problem and I believe that it was deleted. Awesome, it took me already quite some time to explain the problem. Their patch does not work 100% on real hardware, this I am sure of.
when you say modded saturn what do you mean
Does this work the same for Dreamcast?
Why dont you share the patched iso?
The sharing of ROMs themselves is considered illegal, even in patched form, hence why we sadly cannot share the patched ISO itself.
uhm, can you recommended me the stabil sega saturn emulator ??
I think SSF or Mednafen are probably the more stable/compatible, and then Yabause and Yabasanshiro have more features.
Can this game be played on a unmodded japanese saturn with the original iso + the translation patch? Or you need a chip or an action replay cartridge? Thx
No instructions for disc 2?
It's the same instructions for disc 2, just use the other cue file. cheers!
Humm I wonder why people are obssessed with Saturn when a PC version of Sakura Wars is available. It's way easier to redistribute (i.e. pirate) and produce patch with.
Save yourself the headache and buy yourself a physical copy. There dirt cheap, looking for an iso online won't work 70% of the time.
Sakura Wars on the Sega Saturn had an English translation?! FINALLY!!!
I've been wanting to play that game for so long, and just now I finally learn that it's possible for me!
