Lovely to see Slough Station after ten years Had passed this nice station twice a day five days in December 2011 plying between London and Reading Lovely memories of the place Grateful for the video
This station is in Berkshire, just a short train journey from the west London terminus of Paddington. Read a few times that this section between London Paddington and Reading was the most overcrowded. The two/three 1990s built units did not help. I remember boarding on it to Greenford which is also an underground station, Central line. Obviously, the electrification of the route and newer trains benefited.
Ah guess i thought wrong as I thought your video was going to be in the North Midlands but anyways nice video as always and good catches on the high speed iets and that one networker
GWR Class 387/1s are my favourite. And they are inheriting the Class 387/2s on loan from Gatwick Express and Class 387/3 from c2c to cover some of the services because of the continuous problems with the Class 800's crack defects. At least TfL Rail are operating a stopper service between London Paddington and Reading. And perhaps GWR could allow to introduce the Class 769s in service that will be used on the North Downs Line and other services.
I’m hoping to get back out on the Great Western soon. It might be the only time ever that all three sub types of 387 are used on the same route ..and that won’t last forever! The 769s are exciting, I’m hoping a redhill or Guildford video will be a suitable place for them on my channel 😃
Great video, appreciate the service information. Quite a transformation in services. The 8-car 387s must be welcome. I can remember many services, such as the Oxford's could be just a 3 car even at the peak hours, some were 5 or 6 cars. Heathrow Connect was also just 5-car 360s. The Paddington to Greenford's were just 2-car units and the only services to call at Acton Mainline station. Getting a train from Paddington at the peak in those days could be a miserable experience. 9-car 345s and 8-car 387s have certainly increased the capacity, it was much needed. I wonder if the 769s will take over the Windsor shuttle and the Henley and Marlow branches to release the 165s to go west with the rest of the fleet?
No problem Neil. I include service information on my videos for exactly that point you made so you can look back and see how things have changed. From what I could tell there was lots of fresh air being carted around 😃 Im not sure about the plans to replace the DMUs but I know that there are plans for battery trials on the Greenford branch but nothing for any of the others
Hello The Thomas and GWR fan! I’m really glad you are here 😃 I try and get back to comments as and when I get time. Feel free to make suggestions and engage as you see fit. I like to think of my videos as ways to reach out and talk to my viewers 😃
Hope you enjoyed it LunaticFJ! I rarely venture this way because its so far from home base. When the 769s are in service you can bet I'll be around more often. Paddington, Reading and Redhill will all be coming soon 😃
I wouldn’t do it unless I enjoyed it LunaticFJ and the happiness I get from everyone commenting and saying nice things makes me want to push the limits even more 😃 Thank You!
Hi there! Amazing video. Very busy station Slough. Would it be ok if you could visit a station on the HS1? It would be cool to see some Eurostars and Javelins. Thanks😉
I would love to focus more on High Speed One but whilst international traffic is low, I cannot justify the journey and time needed to produce a 15-20 minute video. Once the line becomes busier, I will definitely make your wish come true 😃
Somewhere around Rainham in E London might be ok - C2C right beside HS1 so you could catch some London Gateway etc freight as well as the HS traffic. Thanks for Slough video Starlife - great to see esp with Railcam’s cameras down currently.
It certainly has! I have a few more videos like this coming soon as well as Southern, Southeastern and South Western. Im also hoping to get a new trains at speed video uploaded within the next few weeks! 😃
@@LordEverythingtrains I haven’t been to Grove Park just yet but I have been to New Cross and tried to film at Dartford although the staff wouldn’t let me 😞 I’m hoping to get some more London Termini stations soon so hopefully Charing Cross and Cannon Street will be in there 😃

Superb film bud, you can't go wrong with Slough that's for sure!! I have received your email by the way and this coming weekend Saturday 31st I will be at Reading from roughly 2 till 4 should you wish to join me
Thanks Tornado, that would be awesome, I'm a little busy this week but I might be able to join you since its later in the day. Do you read your emails during the day? I'll drop you a line if it looks like a possibility. 😀
I have a question Starlife Rail Studios. Do you know what shop I could get the Panasonic HC-VX1 4K Camcorder, because I want to know start recording with a camera for my youtube videos. I want to make good quality videos like yours and it's my wish to have a camera that has good quality.
Hi Shabz, I originally bought mine from Amazon in June 2019, but since then, it looks like they haven't been keeping them in stock. I recommend using the Panasonic 'Find a Store' tool to try and a retailer near to you that is in stock. There is also an on-going micro chip shortage and that might not be helping the stock problem. Sorry I couldn't help further, it may be an idea to look into similar camcorders such as the Sony FDR-AX43.
Thank you Ben! I have (and continue to) work hard to make sure that I have a consistent appearance for all my content. I’m really glad that you felt this too. 😃 In the future, I would also like to work on the way GBRf is shown on my videos, so far I have not managed to gain logo approval 😞
The front power car failed on departure from Llandovery, however they did a quick fix, however we failed again at Cynghordy about 20 mins later. We were on the platform for 2hrs 20mins until we were able to go again. But after that, the air-con in coach G (the one I was in) couldn’t keep up with the heat so coach G was like a sauna. I would still go on it again, as all the problems were caused by the heat.
Im afraid to say that most 'new' trains are inferior to their replacements, I mean 800s.. replaced HSTs. Voyagers have always been the enemy. The only trains I can think of that have been well received are the GA 745s and they were not the governments specification. Maybe that says something about the government🤔
Same with me Zephie, but the enthusiast in me likes a diesel over an electric train 🙈 I'm very suprised the 165/166s were sent west, they are rather poor at being regional trains.. Thanks for watching 😃
