Easily the best black templar I've ever seen. Brilliant.
😍😍😍
It looks amazing, but tbh I think it looks a little too metallic and not black enough for a Black Templar.
I've once seen one that was even more real looking. He punched me in the face when I said a prayer wrong, then went back to the crusade.
I miss him :(
@@PumpkinHoard As he said though; black in nature (and most objects) is not actually black. It's a collection of hues that result in too many "colors" to be an actual color and a near complete loss of value.
For me this is the best black templat i ever seen: ua-cam.com/video/7KnwIVEFOOI/v-deo.html
Marco : demonstrates high level color theory and airbrush skills
Me and my half clogged $30 airbrush : finally our time to shine
😁😂😁😂😁
a $30 airbrush give's me hope lol
I am starting a Black Templars army and I have watched this video an unhealthy amount of times. This is by far the best Black Templar paint job I have ever seen. All I can hope for is to at least get my black paint right ^^
Same..... I'm also doing a vader bust....and this helps...with "what" I'd like to achieve.... if not... lol I'll have to print another one.. lol
"Let's paint a Black templar"
Most YT painters - Black Templar contrast paint, edge highlight - done
Marco, the secret to painting black is to not use black - WTF!!!! then goes on to show how to make chromatic black warm and cold variants which in mere moments produces a model that is jaw droppingly awesome...........
Why can we only click the like button once per video??? Just doesn't do it justice.
Love ya bro
Yes, we need a like button to press as I do now, when I see the video, and another when we finish watching it.
Jaw dropping, is exactly what I was thinking and doing.
Exactly!
😊😍😊😘😘😘😘😘😘😘😘
We need to be able to thumbs up twice
Marco you are a gift to the painting community. The amount of knowledge and skills showed in every video are always a motivation to push oneself over their comfort zone. 💪
Possibly the best miniature painter on UA-cam in my opinion, I would say I don't find you videos "beginner friendly" but I do enjoy watching them for inspiration.
Thanks a million man! Yeah there a ton of resources out there for beginners so I aimed to an intermediate/advanced audience from the start 😊
This is not miniature painting, this is pure art.
Painting Templars with Abaddon and Chaos black is heresy so I approve strongly of this video.
Your process is so dramatic. In the early stages I'm always thinking "Nooooo, that looks so mess......... Oh holy hell!! That turned out INCREDIBLE!!!" As they always do. Thanks for the share Marco. You're a master!
"Better than the Box Art" Marco is at it again! Brilliant work, man!
You are the best miniatures painting teacher. Miniature Bob Ross BAM !!!
😂😂😂😘
Came back to this vid January 22 after looked at two respected painter's vids that purported to be painting black without it being painted into being grey instead. They were very grey. Very. This is a very chromatic black that achieves all the interest in the world without having to paint it grey.
Masterful work,, masterful tuition, all Marco
Can you, one of these days, give us a small video tour of your collection of finished miniatures?
That's something I got to see, a good clean shot of everything all together!
Sadly this will be an extremely disappointing video 😅😅😅 I paint for work and this doesn't leave a lot of time for personal projects. Plus I sell or give away most of what I paint and my Warmachine armies and all the resin kits and mechs remained in Italy when I moved to Ireland.... My whole personal collection now is inside a small army box 😅
@@MarcoFrisoniNJM Aww, oh well
Would still like to see some video showcasing some of your collection and maybe some voice over talking about favorites, past experience which could be both good and bad stuff like that.
That's always better than some simple screenshots that's thrown on twitter like most artist do.
Maybe something to think about in the future?
@@MarcoFrisoniNJM Wait a minute! You're in Ireland? I'm based in Kinsale in Cork myself. Great work on this dude. First video of yours I've watched and I'm going over to have a look on Patron
This is possibly the most important channel I've found on the last time. You have a lot of knowledge and one can see the enjoyment you have by painting this. Awesome video, awesome content, keep up that great work, this was a HUGE inspiration. Thanks!
😍😍😍 Thanks a million man!!! Super appreciated!!!
You do good stuff Marco..you speak in art terms and don’t patronize the viewer. Thankyou
Thanks a million 😍😍😍!!! From the beginning of the channel I wanted to direct the videos to an audience that appreciates the artistic side of the hobby, I don't care if it's not mainstream or it doesn't make huge numbers 😁😁😁
Brilliant Marco!
Finally some painter that says that a reddish black can look good on armor, thank you sir.
Probably the single best YT video on miniature painting I've ever seen on YT.....
😍😍😍😍😍
The best paint job ive ever seen. On anything.
I’m amazed on how much information and learning I’m getting from one video.
To have just 1% of this man's talent... This was amazing.
I absolutely adore your videos. I spend a lot of time watching miniature tutorials, but yours always feel like a proper art class. Really help to expand the horizons!
Thank you sooooo much!!!
This is one of the best best paint jobs I've seen. Outstanding!
Please keep always this work up, your way to explain is so direct and inspiring that took me back to painting after 2 years of stop
Best black templar I've seen, wish I could replicate this. Would love to see you do the flesh tearers.
How could anyone thumbs down this?!
😘😘😘
🤙 so cool learning from your tutorials! Stay rad and THANK YOU for sharing your wisdom!
It's been a whole year and I still can't imagine being able to do this. So many great lessons to revisit.
I don’t know if you already did a video on how to paint white. This video helped so much on painting black, that’d I really like to see how you paint white.
I’m a simple man: I see a video from Marco, I click like.
And then start the video.
😂😂😂😘
Aside from the skills , theory and the beauty of your work, your use of language is wonderful.
As a place to learn the art and craft and passion of painting miniatures, this is one of, if not, the best channels.
How is great, why is better!
Cheers Marco for the amazing little things , that separate you from almost all the other channels not artists!
And artists.... not... not
Hey Marco, have you got any plans on doing an in-depth leather study? I'd love to see your process for mixing a variety of leather tones from scratch!
Explaining complex things with this level of simplicity is a great skill, but not nearly comparable as your painting level
😍😍😍 Thanks man!!!
That cloth on the back and the red glow light are both next level in terms of how they add visual interest. Fantastic result and very reusable on many other armies/models.
A Ultramarine Video would be great. Awesome paint job
Best black (not only Templar) paint job.
27 minutes in. Liked. Subscribed. New favourite UA-camr. Most impressive non-black black I’ve ever seen.
🤩😁🤩 Thanks a million!!! And welcome on board!!! 😊
Good Lord, Marco. This is Fine Art. You never fail to astonish.
Thats just crazy how you can paint that well, its so fucking good
Very inspirational, I have been painting miniatures for almost a year now and love it, constantly trying to challenge myself to get better and get out of my comfortzone. Bought my airbrush set a month ago and trying to learn how to use it and be comfortable with it. Seeing this inspires me to keep trying so thank you for that! 😌
This was so interesting to watch. Not just because of the amazing finishing product but genuinely interesting approach to colours and application.
I've never actually seen anyone use the different blacks like that in a single piece. Daaamn this looks good!
😊😁😊😘
I am chomping at the bit for when its the Dark Angels turn! Awesome video man
You know, it's funny... I just rewatched the first of this series and was wondering when we'd see the next one. Lo and behold. Thanks Marco, really excited to see this one.
Absolutely brilliant Marco! My Eldar army is primarily black in color, and I struggled to create interesting contrasts across the models. I was hoping you'd get around to painting a mostly-black model. Here you are, and once again you've blown me away with your passion, creativity, and talent! Can't wait for your next video.
Hey how has this method worked out for you? I'm thinking of trying it on a spare warp Spider now that I have an airbrush and some inks.
BAM. I say that shit all the time when I put my card on the reader at the gas station. Thumbs up for that. Also, quality.
truly LOVE how you mix and blend your paints together. That Bob Ross feeling :)
You're not a painter mate; you're a savant. You have a level of understanding (Especially with light and shadow) that few people will ever reach. Amazing work.
Bam! I'd watch an NJM video if Marco said he's going to decorate a cake with Chinese glue and some gunk he found under his refrigerator. I just know I'll learn lots of amazing things, and the time spent watching is my moment of zen for the week. I had no previous interest in Black Templars, and that was the most amazing video since the color wheel one blew my mind. I'm not a trained artist, and I don't have an intuitive feel for colors and light, so when I say 'mind blown', I'm speaking in subtleties and understatement. Thank you Marco. P.S. Your delivery style is the best of any video creator I follow. This, and all your videos, are always thoroughly enjoyable.
😍😍😍😍😍😍😍 Thank you sooooooooooooooooooo much!!!
my favorite paint youtuber by far...bravo
😍😁😘
fantastic video. im still getting my head around the mixing of the colors to make black. the end result is incredible
I’ve been painting my Templars this way ever since watching your video. Nowhere near as well as this, but it’s definitely improved my understanding of color. Fantastic video.
I work with Colour theory in the Print Industry and your knowledge level is top level. As for your painting it is another thing altogether. Stunning.
😁😊😁😘😘😘 Thanks a million!!! Super super super appreciated!!!
You are the Leonardo Pereznieto of the miniature painting world! I've been enjoying your series so much, masterclass work! I'm starting to play Dark Angels and am looking forwards to your (hopefully) eventual tutorial.
That is absolutely incredible. Having watched this video I may as well throw everything I have in the bin or start the hobby 40 years ago 😭😭😭
I'll just echo what others have said - the explanation of chromatic black vs. black from the pot just busted my head open. I never would've considered something like that, but then you see the difference in the mini and it seems so obvious. Fantastic lesson in color theory. Much thanks
😍😍😍 Thanks a million man!!!
Am I the only one to press "Like" even before the intro because I know it's going to be epic?
nope, ur not the only one :)
😂😂😂 Thanks a million for your trust!!!
@@MarcoFrisoniNJM bro, you have earnt our trust by showing the world what can be done with practice, knowledge and a mentor "holding your hand" through the early stages.
Nobody else on YT does what you do! Infinite respect for ya
I'm there with you man. I hit 'like' as soon as the video loads because I'm still in that "Hell yes another NJM video!" vibe after seeing the alert in my notifications.
Wow, this was really really good guide. Absolutely spectacular
That is one big miniature. Love the design. Great details.
I truly enjoy watching you work. It's amazing and beautiful. You're one of my favorite artists and I mean that in the purist way
what an incredible lesson on the use of inks. Wow. Thank you Marco. please more videos on the use of inks.
😁😁😁
Wow Marco! Great video. I think I finally have a road map on how I will be doing my Abaddon the despoiler. Just beautiful
That’s why I like this way of painting. When you are talking about all the decisions you have to make with each stroke, asking yourself how light reflects and how it is affected by the environnement, I see this as visual design.
Sometimes you sound a little like a concept artist. Music to my ears
Ok like an illustrator would be more correct.
The best marine chapter, thanks for this!
I would give almost annything for a two day one-on-one masterclass with you to learn. As a exclusive/near full black user for my armies this was beyond amazing.
😁😍😁 this will be a very realistic option in the new year 😉😉😉
@@MarcoFrisoniNJM now. Now I am excited for the new year.
@@thijshagenbeek8853 😁😁😁 I plan to finally re open the studio to fellow painters for private sessions and there are great things coming for group workshops. I'll keep you updated throughout channel and socials!
@@MarcoFrisoniNJM please. Please. Do.
This guy is a master. Just wish I had an airbrush....
Very good concepts to take into account. The final result is gorgeous... it is more an ilustration than a mini... Bravo!!
Thanks a million man!!! Super appreciated!!!
The details are jaw dropping
I don’t think I’ve ever seen someone use both NMM and TMM on the same canvas. And the results are equally surprising. I may use this. Thanks for some new things to think about.
Great video, you unravel the mystery and importance of colour theory, more please, more !
Your color theory constantly amazes me. Great job
fantastic model and deep secrets about the color black
This is wonderful and very conceptual, love it. I am painting a 5-man squad for each of these Space Marine videos Marco releases. If I had one criticism, it is that this 3d-printed sculpt has so much detail on it that it becomes quite different from painting a bare Intercessor or tactical marine. Getting some visual interest out of the simple geometric shape of a standard Space Marine is tricky. I felt that the Imperial Fist more directly addressed that challenge. Nevertheless, this is a great and immensely useful video. Thank you Marco.
And now I have to rethink how black works. Damn, great video.
Love your work, Marco. I swear though, I listen to the words you say, I watch your technique and the end product you produce is still absolute magic to me. Keep up the good work, sir!
Really nice model. Love how it depicts Sigismund taking Abaddon's head. How the Siege of Terra should have ended.
Love the initial white zenithal spraying. It's like Caravaggio for miniatures!
Looks lovely. Really rich deep shades.
Once again FTW Marco delivers. Just superb, awesome!
Best BAM of my time! Love it.
BAM! 😂
Great Job, fab Templar... I look forward to your Space Wolf!!!
Once again Marco is The Master
Always an inspiration ti start oainting thw pile of shame, time to do this with a brush only woooo
Dude this Video is absolutely fricking epic! Thank you! This is easily the best looking mini I have seen in some time.
Great perspective on black. Thanks!
This is just brilliant. I've tried the same kind of scheme but working exclusively with cold colors in the airbrush to give off a "black steel" kind of vibe (also because i like blue, dabadee dabada). Great tutorial, very clear instructions and the result is just awesome. Thanks a lot!
Bellissimo modello e complimenti per le scelte dei colori👍👍👍
I used to study art, and chromatic black was part of my studies but somehow during my miniature painting journey I totally forgot about it! Too used to color recipes from hobby paint brands and I got lazy. Thank you so much for reminding me about chromatic black! I need to revisit the way I do my black on miniatures now.
Awesome!!!
Watching this video made me realize that one of the reasons I've always struggled to highlight black effectively is because I didn't know where the pre-mixed black paint ive been using sat as far as its component color composition. Just the bit about mixing your own black base tones for the model was eye opening
Fantastic video! I'm going to be using this method for Abaddon's armor. Thanks so much!
Thanks! Abaddon is the perfect model to try these ideas (and I'll probably use it to convert another oversized marine 😁)
I always learn so much when I watch your videos... and !BAM!
😂😂😂😂BAM!
Incredible artwork. the best miniature I have seen
... I had been looking for a better way to paint Ravenguard so thank you for this
Would love to see you play with Stuart Semples Black 2.0
That. Is. Incredible!
This model is so beautiful! Impressive work, as usual.
I've never used inks. They seem absolutely fantastic!
The model is amazing!
Thanks! Acrylic inks are amazing, extremely versatile and easy to use like any other acrylic formulation 😊
@@MarcoFrisoniNJM I think I will be trying these out soon. I'd love to have a black legion army painted like this
I never comment on UA-cam, but this video is absolutely unreal, Love it Marco!
Marco, that's a masterpiece
Really looking forward to the 3rd episode of this series !
I think this was the most impressive video I've seen from Marco so far. Well done sir!!
Hi Marco. I was brought here from @quarterpaint on Instagram, and I'm so glad I visited. That is a LOT of information to take in! I'll be rewatching this video a few times :D I'm looking forward to going over your other videos - CMY color Wheel next I think :)
Thank you sooooo much!!! 😊😁😊
The video about the CMY system is extremely dense of information but if you can arrive at the end it will completely change your point of view on painting
