I don’t comment on many videos because I watch UA-cam on my tv and can’t comment, but I just had to pull this up on my phone so I could. I just want to say that the world needs more people like you. The respect, love and compassion you both have, for what seems to be everything, is such a great and inspiring thing to witness. I love you both and wish nothing but happiness for you. And your work ethic is impeccable and inspiring. I want to be like the two of you when I grow up (I’m 64)! Great great job so far! I look forward to your videos every single Sunday❤️✌️
I am a goat farmer of 20 years. You did a great job! The first batch is always the hardest! It will be old “hat” from here on out. Would have given anything to have seen you sucking on that “teat”. So proud of you two!
❤❤ you 2! Look for "Sheeplyme" the infos needed is there and abondent. See her last video to learn why that mucus is essential for mother/baby bond. You're doing a fantastic job 😊
Step 1 pour concrete 2 screed 3 bullfloat 4 run your edger tool 5 allow concrete to set enough that you can press your finger with out sinking 6 run edger tool again 7 finish with mag and steel trowl 8 finally run a broom across to give it a nonslip surface Thank you for you videos
Yeap, exactly. I hope he reads your comment. I thought I saw him use a steel trowel right after screed and it had me talking to the TV. But we are all born ignorant and hope we can learn before we are too old to use it.
I seen a few videos of you you're a good guy caring for The Animals and for your wife I hope good things come to you together greetings from the Netherlands🎉🎉🦆🐷🦙🐕🦘🐓🐔🦜
You guys are doing great. Suggestions for pregnant animal mamas. When she is getting close to delivering, even a couple weeks before put down a good amount of straw or bedding especially if she is on a slick surface. Slick surfaces can cause the babies to have leg and hip issues, the mama won’t lay down to nurse her babies like a dog or cat does. They stand like a sheep, cow, horse, etc while nursing. I know putting down bedding has to be changed and cleaned out of the area but it really is safer for the babies legs. ❤❤. We enjoy GBU so much, you both are amazing and are doing such a great job on all of your do it yourselves projects!! Congratulations on your upcoming wedding and celebration ❤❤❤❤❤
Maybe someone else has said this already, but when mixing batches with the mixer, figure out how much water you use in the first batch, and then in future batches, add that amount of water to the mixer before you add the cement. Then add the cement, and it will end up mixed to the right consistency every time. Enjoying the project, you are getting more skills every day. Kids are sure cute as well. Jim
please tell me you got them off that slick floor, crucial to stand on solid ground to develop proper bone and muscle alignment and development. Oh you did yeah! With animals you do what ya gotta do! Proud of you Matt! Well Done!
Theres too many comments to look through, so forgive me if I repeat. You two are amazing! I love what your doing, always interesting!!😃 Congrats on the new surprise baby goats.💞 I went to raised garden beds and they're amazing!! Easy to build, the crops thrive, & no animal issues. You coukd whip those up like nothing!! It will be better with your rainy weather too!
Travertine has holes and irregularities in the surface aka it's not completely smooth and will eventually get dity and mouldy. Maybe get a tile with a solid impervious non slip surface. You guys are doing a great job. Matt is like an unstoppable machine/weapon.
Its evident a man loves his 'kids' when he's willing to go to the extremes to personally unclog the drains for a goat milk shooter in order that his 'kids' will have ample supply!! Would liked to have seen Kristen's face during that episode. You two never cease to amaze me.
That's concrete work. Worked under many makeshift tents and lean-tos. If you not going to get a truck, you can add a little calcium chloride to the concrete to help it set. A ready mix truck during the mixing and traveling with the barrel spinning starts to activate the concrete, so it sets up better. Site mix concrete always "bleeds" water for a long time. Don't forget to hang poly to protect your walls and other finishes. Good job on the goats. Good luck Uncle Matty and Kristen.
This is a first for me and that is I have never seen baby goats so young. Now you need some mini horses. A rancher down from me has a dozen or minis and they are so cute.
Before doing anything else on the finish of the concrete, try doing an acid wash. Find a gallon of the highest concentration of muradic acid you can find locally and flood the pad with it. It will remove the top layer of creme and leave a really nice "sand finish". Scrub the surface with a broom and rinse with lots of water or neutralize with baking soda. It's one of my favorite finishes because it's easy and to do because you do it a day or two after the pour and the final look is a clean, contemporary look. Please us a respirator when using the acid because inhaling the fumes can cause serious damage to your lungs or death.
Great job, as usual you don't disapoint, in your consistency. Please do not change it would not be the same! You are correct, both of you are a comedy you can't help but love. You make me laugh each time. Did you think of contacting the home renovations associations so they could use some of your clips at their annual conferences? Cannot wait to see how your finishing will come out on a poor base.
Matt the standard for concrete ratio in the UK is 1-2-3 One part cement, 2 parts sand and 3 parts aggregate. Put these all in the mixer in shovel loads and then add the water for the right consistency. It looks like you are using way to much cement and it will cost you far more. Some of out buildings have stood for hundreds of years. It may look lighter but the chemical reaction is stronger. Love you guys and have bean watching your for years. Steve
oh man, just sitting giggling to myself, delighting in you two, your banter and apparently random responses to the challenges, knowing in fact, the brilliance of your way of story telling... love it ☺ and, the baby goat segment is wonderful, tender and so vulnerable
It’s so great the way you both care for your animals with such love. On camera the floor looks pretty good. A decorative covering would make the entrance pop.
Matt, I mix liquid laundry soap with water in a 1 gallon spray bottle and apply to walls. Next day I use water and a bristle brush to scrub walls and rinse. The Soap provides a nonstick barrier, hope it helps for future concrete applications.
Oh gosh pausing at 1:31, and thinking that flooring is too slippery for the newborns to get a grip. You need hay piles in there! Plus make sure babies can't fall out. I didnt even know your goat was pregnant??? This is going to be an exciting one!🎉🎉❤❤ cant wait to watch further!!!!
With the concrete nip I'm sure the goat could return the favour on yours. I'm hoping you don't get concrete burns on your knees and fingers, they are very painful and hard to heal. Great video guys.
Tiles get VERY slippery when wet - and you guys get a LOT of rain there. If you take a brick and "sand" the concrete before it gets really cured you can make the surface pretty smooth. Use sand and water to lubricate the brick and to help with the abrasion. Then get some iron filings, wet the concrete down and sprinkle the iron filings over the concrete. That will stain the concrete and make it look more "earthy" and not just like a slab of grey concrete. Oh yes, don't give the roosters away, EAT THEM...
And then I just realized I f***** up I said an Australian Shepherd was a cold-weather dog LOL I meant a not long haired dog pretty much I know I'm silly
Put the goats in charge of Landscaping! When doing a semi inclosed pour like that, I would slope it a little for water run off,,,also, an easy good look is to just sprinkle small stones on the concrete when it's wet, tamp them down with a screed,,,then before the mud is dry , spray it with a water hose to expose the stones evenly, It's a good outdoor look,
I had a job in an outdoor colony museum, we had goats I would peg out on chain for weed control. One day two kids popped out and were very healthy, bounding all over the place! While the boss and the girls from the restaurant down the hill were checking out the billy goat twins, one asked what their names were. Knowing how mischievious they were I just blurted out 'Heckle and Jeckle' and all agreed that suited them and it stuck!!!
Pro tip, wipe some oil on the wood forms and they will release super easy and look extra smooth 😉, those baby goats are a 1000 on the adorable meter so dang cute!!!!!
Hello I’m a fan enjoying you videos, I was watching golf a fellow on you tube called Sasha Juliard he build a beautiful house in Costa Rica. If your looking for ideas for designs this is a beautiful house at minimal cost. Hope this helps you in your design process . A Fan Arthur 😊
How do you go from a good sailing channel to a land based abandon home build raising critters? Answer is....its still you 2. Great production great fun content. Miss the bikinis thou. respectfully used on the boat btw. Tastefull and often covered up. Class act Kristen and Matt
I have seen them mix aggregate (pea gravel) with clear epoxy and pour it as a walkway. Trowled smoothly, it let water soak through but held up to foot traffic. You could even drive small vehicles over it. You put down a layer of sand, then a base layer of gravel, and finally, a layer of the epoxy pea gravel about 2"-3" thick. Overall, it was about 6"-8" thick. They did this large scale at a major university, and it held up to some heavy foot traffic. For your application, mix aggregate (like your crushed rock between the road and your wall) with clear epoxy and trowel it out smooth over the concrete (it provides the structural base) about half-inch thick. You would probably want to do some test patches of the coating on concrete blocks, looking for the right amount of epoxy. And to see if you like the look of it. You only need enough to coat the rock, gluing them together, not submerge it in excess resin. That's just wasting resin and money. It would give the entry the look of the crushed rock but would be more permanent. Just another option.
I would have drilled several holes in the wall below grade and installed some rebar to bridge what will become the gap. one-inch holes; 3/8 rebar. BTW, Kristin the evolution of your video skills is amazing.
You can put a skim coat on it. Basically sand and Portland cement. Trowel it smooth brush it out. Depending on how green the concrete is you might need to etch it with muratic acid. Then brush a concrete bonding on the surface and mix some bonding agent into the cement, sand, water mix. Another option just re pore a 1”- 2” pea gravel concrete ready mix cap on top of it I’ve done both methods when original pour got away from us and set up to quickly. Years later driving by different jobs still looked good.
You can get a concrete sander to knock down all of the texture that is there. Also, you can do the garage floor epoxy coating with a silica bead texture to make it not so slippery (It's what I was planning on doing to the sidewalks at my property here in Texas!
Rain is part of life in the DR. Peoples…don’t sweat it. Not important. Move on to your next endeavor and don’t look back. Listen to your jungle in the background. Cool.
You start doing a good job and learning a lot in the process the mistakes you make now are only on the smaller part of your project, I say good job well done
We ADORE You GBU been watching you from the beginning and always awarded with giggles and the beauty of life happens in wonderful ways 😂❤Always wishing you and yours blessings in abundance Great peeps Great hearts💕

❤❤ you 2! Look for "Sheeplyme" the infos needed is there and abondent. See her last video to learn why that mucus is essential for mother/baby bond. You're doing a fantastic job 😊
Could we get a reenactment 😂
We need more bouncing baby goats !
Seriously, you can have a live cam on the baby goats-and get a zillion views.
Me and my husband love you guys. We watch your videos all day long. Love your new property. Matt , well done on all your building projects.
Step 1 pour concrete
2 screed
3 bullfloat
4 run your edger tool
5 allow concrete to set enough that you can press your finger with out sinking
6 run edger tool again
7 finish with mag and steel trowl
8 finally run a broom across to give it a nonslip surface
Thank you for you videos
Yeap, exactly. I hope he reads your comment. I thought I saw him use a steel trowel right after screed and it had me talking to the TV. But we are all born ignorant and hope we can learn before we are too old to use it.
Matt, there is nothing better as far as chicken goes than a roasted young rooster 😋
Matt, you really remind me of my dad. He was a strong man, and so kind as well. I wish I could be there to help!
hi we want a video of just baby goats!!!!!! so cute dang it !
You should do a mosaic of your sailboat! White and blue colors would look awesome with the white wall and continue with your Mediterranean look!👍
I seen a few videos of you you're a good guy caring for The Animals and for your wife I hope good things come to you together greetings from the Netherlands🎉🎉🦆🐷🦙🐕🦘🐓🐔🦜
❤Great couple❤🪄⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Matty Concreate bout to morph into Tommy Tile... Nice going guys.

You guys are natural parents.
Good job..with the babies.. when you have animals..you do what you have to..
For Safety's Sake, DONT PUT TILE DOWN! I have tile at my front porch in Florida, and let me tell you... it get soooo slippery!
I was going to mention that too, totally agree.
There are tiles made for this purpose that has a texture. Commonly used in carports.
Baby goats, Lord have mercy them babies are CUTE!!!

Cute babies, Make concrete pad white to match walls.

Bless you and your farm ❤
Put a tile there!!!❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Matt you should put down some straw/hay for them to lay on. The concrete is cold and slick. They do need to nurse asap to get colostrum.

Cute little goats 🐐🐐
Welcome to the world, Goats!
Door, I'd like a medieval castle style door.

You make me laugh each time. Did you think of contacting the home renovations associations so they could use some of your clips at their annual conferences? Matt, you should have done it in 2 halves with a timber down the middle and when first is dry you remove centre timber and then finish the rest.
BRAVO You are precious hosts, genuine and personable. Love your channel. now away from the boat.
Matt try just applying a colored grout coat. You can make it smooth or textured. It's quicker and easier.😎👍👍
Matt

Don't think I've ever seen a house built from the 0utside in ! Quite the developer! Love those kids
Out, it is more inviting and finished looking!
It’s so great the way you both care for your animals with such love. On camera the floor looks pretty good. A decorative covering would make the entrance pop.
OMG baby goats 🐐 are adorable
Rock coming through the top of the cement is called exposed aggregate, and it's recommended for many uses due to it's non-slip surface.
Cheers guys!
I miss the sound of the coqui frogs when we live on the big island🤙keep up the good work
Matt full applause on getting the milk going..not a fun task but had to be done 👍👍 bro..
Ohmy the cutest things ever.
Giggles plus 😂 And Matt, concrete nip is definitely level 3 mate! Cheers 🇦🇺
Colorful tiles!
You should've put wire mesh in the cement.
just get grey concrete floor leveler mix .it will be dull, grey finish if they have it
Matt, I mix liquid laundry soap with water in a 1 gallon spray bottle and apply to walls. Next day I use water and a bristle brush to scrub walls and rinse. The Soap provides a nonstick barrier, hope it helps for future concrete applications.
😮you guys are amazing
You guys know that the two lambs will make delicious veal. Think about it. Good stuff man.
Eat the roosters! Ahhh I heard the coqui frogs in the background. Makes me wish I was back down there. Peace out guys. Y’all rock.
Can I say “the editing and music” is getting better with each video … 👏 Bravo
Oh gosh pausing at 1:31, and thinking that flooring is too slippery for the newborns to get a grip. You need hay piles in there! Plus make sure babies can't fall out. I didnt even know your goat was pregnant??? This is going to be an exciting one!🎉🎉❤❤ cant wait to watch further!!!!
Cool baby goats guys.Think you need to score a 9s diamond grinding discount to sort those concrete issues there
With the concrete nip I'm sure the goat could return the favour on yours. I'm hoping you don't get concrete burns on your knees and fingers, they are very painful and hard to heal. Great video guys.

Aren't the iron fillings going to rust? Where do you buy iron fillings?
Good work guys 🎉
Matt you need a herd dog. A protector for your livestock. Maybe an Australian Shepherd of Border Collie. Not to mention they are man's best friend.
Or a donkey 🫏
I think those two dogs probably don't match the environment. Maybe something more like a blue heeler. Something that is not a cold-weather dog
And then I just realized I f***** up I said an Australian Shepherd was a cold-weather dog LOL I meant a not long haired dog pretty much I know I'm silly
And truthfully pitbulls make really good guard herding dogs
Matt is getting a herd of goats 😂 for protection lol😊
Put the goats in charge of Landscaping!

Capons (rooster) are delicious 😋 , goats are so cute - no you can make goat cheese!!😊❤
Love watching you guys "cementing".....your relationship! Bad dad puns help with the algorithm.

Arroz con pollo, Asopao, jerk chicken, BBQ chicken, fry chicken don't forget good old fashion chicken soup 😂

Blue Painters tape AND 2' plastic at least taped above cement..lol.
enjoy this down to earth channel.
I would have drilled several holes in the wall below grade and installed some rebar to bridge what will become the gap. one-inch holes; 3/8 rebar. BTW, Kristin the evolution of your video skills is amazing.
Looks good. I would have room finished.
It's real good to see you enjoying a beer Uncle Matt.
Matt’s a real farmer now
Matt you and Kristen have a great attitude, property looks great 👍🏽 baby lambs are too cute 😁
Since the walls are white, should maybe drop some Mediterranean style tiles in there
❤😎 Matt's your a gr8 dad to your animals Kristen I think matt will be a good dad to your future babies The place is looking lovely 😍

I had a Nanny with horns once.
Best guard dog I ever had
Goats are a special animal.
concrete nip is real the concrete in the air sticks to you and it burn the skin the tshirts rubbing..
Matt great way to use farmer tactics! Improvise, adapt and overcome. Ok maybe I took that moto from another place.
Tile tile tile! Would give great character imo
You can get a concrete sander to knock down all of the texture that is there. Also, you can do the garage floor epoxy coating with a silica bead texture to make it not so slippery (It's what I was planning on doing to the sidewalks at my property here in Texas!
Do stamped concrete. That would look good.
Good God Matt that’s a real man right there. Goat man Matty
Rain is part of life in the DR. Peoples…don’t sweat it. Not important. Move on to your next endeavor and don’t look back. Listen to your jungle in the background. Cool.
Dang dem baby goats are cute.
The baby goats are so adorable 🥰.
With your sailing background, i would use some nice non-slick tile and form a compass rose at tne entry point to your property!
I have a friend who was a drummer in a band and he had twin girl goats. He named them Anna 1 and Anna 2.
Cover goat enclosure with chicken wire and you need straw for bedding
Looking good
Matt suckling the milk out is some epic man shit 😅
Also concrete nip.😂😂😂, i can always count on a laugh from Matt.
Goats grow quickly
Impressive work! But you need to make sure that you get no pooling of water in the corners or you will get mosquitoes
On to the next!
