I will never understand spending an absurd amount of money on clothing, no matter how wealthy I get. Buying quality, hand crafted products that last I can understand but mass manufactured products with a brand label slapped on it for bragging rights is ridiculous.
If you're wealthy, if you see something you like, you just buy it without a thought. Tho buying for bragging rights... Idk if actually rich people do that, if so that's indeed useless, at the very least like the things you buy
@@SnowSNS11 of course they do, it's all ego... that's as old as time. There are rare exceptions but in most cases it's all about self validation. I'm wealthy enough to afford many things but choose not to. It's about upbringing and the things you choose to place value in.
Haha 😅 I guess it's for people with too much time to care about that, only shallow people will care about that as it seems a waste of time to bother... or those focus on their appearance if it's their job like celebrities? I remember they have a problem in Korea about Idols wearing luxury items as their young fans are begging their parents to buy them those things maybe to support their idol or whatever. Eitherway it's very effective.
The kimonos are the most exquisite. Maybe because I sew & embroider, but they are quite superb in terms of quality and beauty. Also, when you think that the Japanese don’t like second hand clothes… I would gladly buy one second hand. Sooo beautiful.
It's not just about buying. It's also about the skill of cleaning, maintaining and repairing and all that requires money and effort so it's hard to blame people not investing in it while the economy is not doing well
I love these type of video I often tend to fall asleep when watching because it’s so relaxing, no loud noises of screamed kids. Purely information and knowledge.
the difference between the kimonos where it shows each and every step of how its made with hand drawn designs and made by hand over several weeks vs the supreme t shirt where the entire segment is like: well, theres not a lot of stores and uh, you have to wait in line and kanye west likes it.
It's ironic how almost every entry focuses on the craftmanship as justification for the high price yet when it gets to Supreme and Air Jordans, it is about the 'celebrity factor' and exclusivity instead of quality. Birkin bags somehow fall into both categories. Ridiculous.
I don’t get why people pay hundreds of dollars on shoes and clothes (Air Jordan’s/supreme) when you can buy different brands for like $50 max and pocket the remainder
It depends. I'm plus-sized, so finding clothes in my size that I actually like is difficult. It's absolutely worth it to me to spend a bit extra on, say, a bespoke winter coat off Etsy than it is to buy something cheaper but that I don't like the look of. Plus, it's always kind of fun to have an article of clothing that's genuinely unique or produced on such a small scale that you're unlikely to encounter someone with the same thing.
@@Tracy-xe9zu This is a VERY different thing than what OP is talking about. You actually need to spend more since otherwise you might not be able to get what you like to wear. You're clearly not paying extra merely for status. People that buy ANYTHING from Supreme or those that buy specific models from known brands like Nike (Air Jordans being mentioned by OP) do it only for the status. You will always get higher quality items for a lower price by not buying any status products. Not saying the status product is necessarily bad but it's not worth the price.
The biggest difference between the bags, and something like gold is that you literally cannot produce any more gold in already exists. Yes Hermes bags are very nice and rare however, there’s nothing technically stopping them making millions of them if they really really wanted to. I can answer this question without seeing the video. These businesses will charge as much as they can because people WILL BUY the products as their set price. Any item is only worth the price people will pay for the product. Consumers stop buying it, the price is reduced. Supply and Demand.. basic economics.

People used luxury items as a key to access to their next social status group. Like who can or will you meet when you have a Bugatti. To be honest, most of the “luxury” items I see are things that are expensive just because they are rare and the market has created the hype. Those sneakers? They aren’t usually created with the finest materials on Earth. And if they are made with alligator leather or ostrich skin, then they aren’t hand stitched, nailed, and varnished with a brush like proper dress shoes should be.
