Anon Archia I feel like they knew she was lying about never eating any fish but the people of Drakkenheim seem to be forgiving of “circle of life” survival. As long as they didn’t know the dead personally. Lol
"I bet you can't outrun that machine in all that armor." "Let's do it." The best way to get Pluto Jackson to do something is if you tell him he can't do it.
And he makes stumbling on your words seem ok. I always had self conscious issues woth my cadence or speaking. But he is very similar. So I feel better about it.
started watching dungeon dudes with all the DM tips, and now here i am binge watching the series! i love the setting, the DM style, and the characters! KEEP IT UP!
The foreshadowing and terror of the chase scene with the executioner was really inspiring as to what D&D can achieve. I'm going to do my best to bring this to my own table, and keep up the good work!
The whole campaign is really amazing, but this episode bears the crown so far. The reaction of the characters to the umber hulk and the executioner depicts so well the emotions that the characters would actually go through in these situations. All fostered by Monty's incredible storytelling that really builds up the tension leading to and during combat. Great show and thanks to all the team!
One moment Veo looks around the corner and sees the Umber Hulk wreathed in flames and cooking in its own shell while being assaulted by Pluto, A few moments later she looks back around and sees Pluto lifeless beside the Hulk and Sebastion staring hopelessly into its eyes, about to be ripped apart. That's the difference a few seconds of cowering around a corner can make!
@@Draeckon it was extract info, and if needed to (discretion of the party of whether its better for him to live or die, all based around if leaving him alive and with an ability to pump him for info is better for the academy) kill him and bring the head.
I cant believe how good this is! I have literally dropped everything in my life to watch this amazing series back to back! I love Montys DMing style! I love Joe's (pluto's) happy demeanor to everything while playing, I love Kelly's (Sebastian's) little dark remark's of acceptance to the world and I love Jill's (Veo's) cat references and great general words of reason throughout.
I'm late to this party, but I am really enjoying the campaign, my friends all watch critical roll, but I much prefer this setting, and the smaller group. I watch your videos each time they come out but just started with the campaign. Really enjoy all your work. Thank you for inspiring me to DM better:-)
"It's a dog-eat-fish world out there," said Sebastian Crowe. "And I avenged your friend." (After eating him earlier.) Veo adds, "We'll visit some other time, and bring some finger foods." Hilarious!
"The creature is dead..." "Can we eat it?" The Fishmen Encounter was absolutely freaking amazing; "No we'd have to kill you. That is horribly barbaric!"
I wanted Veo to tell the rat prince that "Fish are friends, not food." Sebastian must have been glad to wear brown pants after the spectre. I'm getting no sleep until I finish binging this series and catch the livestreams.
01:38:00 bit of disagreement with Nirvana there. I know they only ate him because they heard the description and the players were thinking of a mutant fish rather than a guy who happened to be a fish, but it all ended up very funny :)
Hey Monty, I would like to note that the hardened exterior of the umber hulk's exoskeleton is pronounced "kai-ten". I have mispronounced this word myself, and after being corrected by one of my players, looked it up. I hope this doesn't come across the wrong way, because your work inspires me, and I just want to see you get even better. Edit: If someone on the stream already pointed this out, you have my apology.
@@DungeonDudes It is very atmospheric music, but it was a bit loud. You don't want to wash out the DM's awesome descriptions of the city or the fun group dynamic!
Loving the series even though I'm late to it. About the 2hr mark in when you all plugged the dungeon dudes treasure trove I was smirking and fully expected Kelly to say "I'm Sebastian Crowe, and I approve this ad".
Okay, so this is a random video to comment this on, but I love watching this show so much more than Critical Role, and I feel like that should be said because that's the kind of silver standard for this production style of DnD. I find their content meandering and droning, while this is focused and driven, but everyone's charisma carries the show along a super entertaining experience. Thanks for making this, guys. I needed a good campaign to listen in on between my own sessions.
Late reply, but im exactly the same, dont get me wrong, some combat episodes in critical roles campaigns are dynamite, if you want something very... fun and not serious at all, try viva la dirt league dnd, small episodes, but theyre much more fun, plus joke items haha
2:31:20 Pluto running: Monty: "And it gets an 18 to hit" Joe: "He misses" I laughed so hard at this, it was so cute and funny. I really love their character development and great DM'ing adapting to the campaign
A new entry in the campaign uploading just as I'm halfway through the existing ones! Yey! Thank you for doing this, crew. It's great to watch for someone who always wanted to play D&D and never had a chance to.
This is awesome. Cadaver Collectors are no joke, good thing they didn't fight it. I want to add, the Tabaxi is using Zephyr Strike wrong. It only adds movement speed on the turn she pops it to gain advantage.
@@CallenExile Tabaxi Feline Agility allows double movement speed for a single round only resetting for use again after not taking any movement for one round. As for Zephyr Strike, she was using it wrong unless they were using a house rule version of the spell.

I've been catching up on episodes I missed from the campaign, and this is actually the first time I disagree with a DM's decision! I feel like calling for a stealth check for closing a door when a creature making so much noise was behind another closed door was a bit too much of a push towards the fight, when the players were doing a good job at not getting involved. But great episode nonetheless! :D
I probably wouldn't have made that call... But I only disagree with one of Monty's decisions once every 5-7 episodes, whereas if you recorded one of my home games and played it back to me the next day (or five minutes later) I would be wincing at something I did almost every single session.
I feel like this is the very beginning of the monster harvesting idea for Monsters of Drakkenheim, even if that's bog standard for adventuring groups XD
So, I have a question. Around time 53:00-53:24 Pluto attacks the Umber Hulk with disadvantage because his eyes are averted. He used Precision Strike on this attack. Can you do that? R.I.P Blip Blhoop, if I had tear ducts, I too would be crying
So, I greatly appreciate the smaller group size. I find other D&D productions to be distracted with so many players.
