This video addresses the EXACT problem I was having in recent weeks when trying this (new to me) guard series. I was starting to think I was just too stupid, or my legs were too short. Everything he talks about was happening to me. Actually this video needs to be STEP ONE in getting to the lapel guards. Thank God he put it out; I was about to give up.

Awsome as always. I use a lot lapel when Iam doing guard, this kinda of guard is amazing. I don't remember the last time that someone passed my guard. squid guard and worm guard is top game.

What if my training partner is really good at the double under guard pass? If I put my feet on his shoulders I'm screwed because it's kinda easy to get underneath them and start the double under pass. Thoughts?

I tried this backwards and kept kicking him in face and the dam lapel kept falling out. I was crunched up. I liked the foot choke and we started our own move foot to the face and pushed him in air and threw down to mat.
I have been having trouble when I lasso the lapel everyone drops to their knees fast now. Does this cover what to do on that?

There's no way to ban it since nothing about it is illegal. This is just the evolution of sport bjj, enjoy the endless possibilities of the art even if it moves away from street fighting :)
@@BlockheadJiujitsu it s already banned in Copa podio so there is a way I think keenan is right when he said this guard will change jujitsu for the best or the worst" because for sure using the lapel give you a superior grip and your guard vey hard to pass
So in few years if this guard isn't banned everybody will have to learn it, it s already the case in my gym one guy begin to use worm guard one year later half of the gym is using it the sparring became boring everybody stall because they can't pass
@@elmundir Very interesting! I didn't know any orgs had banned it. Our gym has started lapel guards, I personally think they're pretty interesting. Lapels have always slowed the game down with more technical nuance, now there's another layer added.
