I've been slowly adding a show archive to the videos including a full transcript added as sub titles and a full track listing (with links to UA-cam videos for each track). You gotta appreciate Steve’s honesty about why Karl never slags of Ricky. It’s kind of like Steve and Karl are both held hostage by Ricky and Ricky pits them against each other for his entertainment.
It's true but Steve also brown noses Ricky incredibly hard every episode. "If i wanted advice...i dont" Steve: well if you did want advice youd go to me first. Its very childish. Like Draco Malfoys backup bullies always at his side. At least Karl is consistent with being annoyed at Ricky.

After all the torture Karl suffered in this particular episode, I always get a little sad when in the "Silence of the Lambs" bit, he says "the show is the best part of my week."
@R4- P17 As they once said, it takes around 6 months to produce a few half hour episodes of the Office. How would they be able to also write an hour a week of scripted comedy, and why waste a character like Karl on a tin pot radio station.
@R4- P17 it's orchestrated in that they have a general formula: disagree with Karl on purpose and play devil's advocate because that's how the funniest lines come out.
I fall asleep to these so many times. I've listened to all podcasts, shows and audiobooks about 30 times. They still entertain me. He proper disses Steve all the time and Steve is by the funniest
What are the audiobooks, the guide to's? (: I keep hoping that someday Karl will make the audiobooks to his own books!!! (: So far, no luck. If anyone finds out they are being made, please respond to this comment! :D
This show won a bronze at the sonys yet here we are loads of people listening to this 20 years later No way is there anyone listening to whatever won gold and silver 20 years on
Nobody is listening to ANY radio from 20 years ago. Maybe the odd person has a Wogan CD they listen to in the car but that is selected bits. Entire shows, nobody. That is the lasting genius of these shows.
Classic episode! Imagine hearing a "show" like this with 3 similar personalities on the radio in this day and age... it will never happen again. I cherish these podcasts :)

This show really stands out as a turning point imo. First time Karl is genuinely sick of it and rethinking his job. It's not nasty or awkward but just start of friendship being strained. Moaning of life was the best thing Karl ever did because he literally became Ricky's pet
I don't think I'd ever heard the word "arbitrary" before these shows, and now after Steve says it about five times an episode I never want to hear it again.
20:20 “that’s good isn’t it, that’s good value” 😂 this isn’t my favourite episode but it does have some really great moments, something great about Steve calling in on his burger mission

I just took the route that Steve would've taken from XFM to McDonald's in street-view on google maps. I'll have to make that walk part of my XFM pilgrimage when I go to London one day.
The McDonalds isn’t there anymore, it used to be on the main road up to China Town. There’s a new one around the corner from the Lego shop in Leicester Square though, so you could sort of recreate it.
Poor Steve, Karl getting annoyed because Steve was telling the truth. Also funny how Karl says everyone steals his ideas even though all his ideas for shows are stolen from else where xD
Some great transitions into songs here. Such as Steve Merchant buying the hamburgers transitioning into Eminem Sing for the Moment and, of course, Karl stuffing burgers in his face going into Night Swimming
This has the start of the classic Monkey News formula: Karl spouts a nonsense story(that he very likely knows is crap), Ricky goes ballistic while Steve tries to calm him down. The other Monkey News segments before this hadn’t quite tapped into this winning formula!
@R4- P17 People need to stop with that. Karl has said that he doesn't need other people to stand up for him. He knows Ricky is a bit of a dick and he accepts it and enjoys it (in some Karlesque type of way).
Hate to play Devil's Advocate, but I think over time Karl's nonsense was probably starting to get on Ricky and Steve's nerves the more they dealt with him. If you've ever had a friend like that you can't help but take the piss out if them every once and again when you've had enough. It became apparent during Rockbusters when they became more and more (brilliantly) wrong. After coming back through Series 2 all over again I feel the argument still stands. It's not just the nonsense, it's also his refusal to listen to reason that drove them nuts.

I didn’t say it was scripted. Just that they occasionally make stuff up and pretend a listener emailed it in to take away the blame of them saying it
