Hey guys, sorry for pinning this comment on all videos but I want to give you an update on the channel. I've been slowly adding a show archive to the videos including a full transcript added as sub titles and a full track listing (with links to UA-cam videos for each track). Pilkipedia archive link has been added as well and I've been having fun illustrating some of KP's best bits, I'm adding these to a shop incase anyone is interested: www.man-moth.com/ It's taking me a while to update the archives, especially as I don't work Mondays so please bear with me as I chip away at it. Lots of love, Man Moth.
Thanks for all you do, you're the best!! I've been listening to these for almost 10 years and they've helped me through some tough times.
Love from Canada!
@@rkandathil Same here pal. 15 years for me
AWFUL
Haha
27:50 imagine having tuned into XFM at this exact moment
I just did a spit take 😂
Nothing reminds me how old these shows are more than "5 hamburgers for £3.45"
HeatyFrog Good value Rick!
what is it now in the uk?
Jake.bevis97 £4.45. Still not bad value tbf.
that is still good value, in Australia it would set you back $12.50 for 5 Mcdonalds hamburgers
2 for a tenner
This show pretty much single-handedly created a foundation for the podcast industry
Based
These three and the internet tom green show.
I thought Tom Green too, but the xfm shows must outdate him.
I didnt even know what a podcast was. Even when inwas listening to this, i would google what podcasts were
@@Christoff070F off with that "based" crap.
Just imagine, it's Saturday afternoon and you tune in to Xfm at 22:31... "How did they get 3 in?? Keep pushing- ease it in - keep pushing - ease it in - keep pushing get one it at least - ease it in - GET ONE IN AT LEAST - GET ONE IN - I CANT - EASE IT IN - (muffled scream)" then Night swimming by REM plays. Sony award winning.
Brilliant stuff LOL
41:22 "Tea all over the world's smallest man"
You can just hear the disappointment in Karl's voice, and Ricky's laugh gets me every time.
EvilToaster Genius line. How someone so thick can have fast wit like that is truly paradoxical. Hilarious.
"So... sorry, Paul Ince..."
Haha. Good line.
Karl knows what's most important.
Having 'Nightswimming' by R.E.M being played whilst Karl was angrily having his mouth stuffed undesirably with hamburgers was a stroke of genius.
I was gonna say the same thing hehe!
LOL the lead-in to this track was just TOO good 😂😂
oh no! it's my favourite song, the thought of that may have ruined it!
Sublimest moment in all radio
Get one in, GET ONE IN! "Nigtswiming, deserted quiered night"
You gotta appreciate Steve’s honesty about why Karl never slags of Ricky. It’s kind of like Steve and Karl are both held hostage by Ricky and Ricky pits them against each other for his entertainment.
that's a great observation
And for our entertainment too though tbf
It's true but Steve also brown noses Ricky incredibly hard every episode. "If i wanted advice...i dont"
Steve: well if you did want advice youd go to me first.
Its very childish. Like Draco Malfoys backup bullies always at his side. At least Karl is consistent with being annoyed at Ricky.
@@RayTheomoBut Ricky is also like 15 years Steve’s senior and they are creative partners. There’s probably a degree of deference from that because they are equals in one sense but in another sense they aren’t.
@@L_Martin Good point. Its almost mandatory in celebrity culture to kiss the ass of the biggest name in the room.
"I've been eating a lot of Shredded Wheat recently and me heads got a bit bigger."
"Steve will go and get the hamburgers."
"Have I got to pay for them?"
I've listened to the radio shows & podcast so many times yet they still entertain me so much
It's such an odd effect, see many other people who feel the same and this is the only podcast/show I've seen it so profoundly with
" GET ONE IN AT LEAST! "
Absolutely mental.
"MY NEIGHBA had A HORSE innnnnn A HOOOOUSE"
"What.....in.......God's name......was that?"
Absolute Class! ;D
35:25
First time he played it I couldn't breathe for about ten seconds. It was beautiful.
"...that was rubbish, that last half an hour..."
Usually when words like these are spoken by Karl or Ricky it's been the best bit of the episode. x
Ricky's laugh at 24:13 bloody hell haha
+Benzzodude sounds like a firework going off
Max Woolford Yes, yes it does
That's one of my Top 5 of Rick's laughs.
hahaha
What did Karl say? Can't make it out hahaha!
Ricky emptying his whole lungs on 24:13 is the best. Almost tops the "Never saw the manhole cover again" reaction.
lmao so true
Why didn’t he just look both ways
that should be interseting for meatballs
@@ben3129 It was pushing people off their bikes.
@BrandonWillWin on a side note, that punchline "Why didn't he look both ways" and the build up to it proves to me that karl is a comedic genius
Wasn't a big fan of this episode the first 10-15 times i heard it.
Now, just the thought of Smerch in a queue in McDonalds towering above everybody cracks me up.
Weird innit.
The great thing is, if mum has to pop off to the toilet, she can leave little Johnny with Steve, and meet back at him later! ;D
"The first 10-15 times" XD love it
GOOED LUKKK
Rookie numbers…
I keep saying to myself, "I've surely heard these goddamn things enough." Yet I keep listening, over and over.
After all the torture Karl suffered in this particular episode, I always get a little sad when in the "Silence of the Lambs" bit, he says "the show is the best part of my week."
:(
I imagine an awkward silence in the studio at this point
aww Karl :(
@R4- P17 As they once said, it takes around 6 months to produce a few half hour episodes of the Office. How would they be able to also write an hour a week of scripted comedy, and why waste a character like Karl on a tin pot radio station.
@R4- P17 it's orchestrated in that they have a general formula: disagree with Karl on purpose and play devil's advocate because that's how the funniest lines come out.
"that was rubbish that half hour.....rubbish"
Rubbishhhhh
This show really stands out as a turning point imo. First time Karl is genuinely sick of it and rethinking his job. It's not nasty or awkward but just start of friendship being strained. Moaning of life was the best thing Karl ever did because he literally became Ricky's pet
The cost of those five hamburgers are my measure of inflation. I agree with Steve, great value.
You can hear how Ricky gets off on Karl and Steve going at it.
It's fucking hilarious. He's such an instigator as well, always winding both of them up. Legend.
I hope he isn't get off though ;)
thats sounds very rude
"Oh and don't bother telling the story about Men in Black 2 either cos I don't think people'd be interested"
*waits for Karl to begin*
"Have you seen that, Steve?"
*sits back and enjoys the fireworks*
let's all just say a big thank you to Mr Man Moth!
and to toby, and to barney, and to the others and those to follow
Ricky: GET ONE IN, GET ONE IN ATLEAST, GET ONE IN
Karl: I CAN’TMMMFFF
The bit where Karl despondently says (with a face stuffed full of burger) “I can’t do this either” is one of the funniest bits in all the shows
@@ejayman yes his voice there is hilarious, no wonder Ricky gives out one of his top 5 laughs.
I fall asleep to these so many times. I've listened to all podcasts, shows and audiobooks about 30 times. They still entertain me. He proper disses Steve all the time and Steve is by the funniest
What are the audiobooks, the guide to's? (: I keep hoping that someday Karl will make the audiobooks to his own books!!! (: So far, no luck. If anyone finds out they are being made, please respond to this comment! :D
Hope Ⓥ Justice yeah Karl made his own 1 he + podcast thing solo recently .
16:14 - "What about hamburger stuffing?"
*Ricky noises*
"In the mouth you mean?"
So many listens through and I've never noticed the "in the mouth" joke 😆
the farest that a dog swam
I was so surprised they didnt pick him up on that
@@ElZilchoYo same
"I,ve been eating a lot of shredded wheat lately and me heads got a bit bigger!" I cannot believe I missed this gem.
This show won a bronze at the sonys yet here we are loads of people listening to this 20 years later
No way is there anyone listening to whatever won gold and silver 20 years on
Nobody is listening to ANY radio from 20 years ago. Maybe the odd person has a Wogan CD they listen to in the car but that is selected bits. Entire shows, nobody. That is the lasting genius of these shows.
"He's had a little strop on?!" - 30 seconds in and I'm already dying 😂
That was great.
Wonder if that random McDonald's employee knows how many people have heard her voice 😂
Taya
I always think she says Kaya and Steve misheard her. Kaya or Taya if you're out there drop a line!
"Hickory Dickory Dock...", what a way to start a show.
Boris Müller was z
I love the bit where Steve thinks he's in a burger joint called Hamburgers....
@R4-P17 33:45 "I'm in McDonald's in Lester Square."
He didn't want to say what one it was because its like free advertising, but Ricky prods him into saying it anyway.
Never happened. He said he was in a burger joint and then when Ricky asked where he said McDonalds. 63 deaf idiots
Glad someone else caught that lol
Nananana. Is that the name of the restaurant?
One of my favorite episodes, it's like the epitome of their non-trying magnificent routine.
Epitome?
Merci.
Epitome: a person or thing that is a perfect example of a particular quality or type. Pronouned 'Epi-toe-me' or 'epitomy'. Yeah, it's got a weird spelling.
is it me, is this the most divisive episode in the whole show? It’s hilarious of course, but Karl is clearly genuinely stressed and annoyed, don’t blame him
20:20 “that’s good isn’t it, that’s good value” 😂 this isn’t my favourite episode but it does have some really great moments, something great about Steve calling in on his burger mission
Completely agree, I love it when Steve kind of pokes fun at his love for a good deal
Classic episode! Imagine hearing a "show" like this with 3 similar personalities on the radio in this day and age... it will never happen again. I cherish these podcasts :)
cuz there is no one similar to Karl
We all do here. Ricky's genius and instigation, Steve's sharpness, wit, and meanness, and Karl's genius and stupidity.
No one could bring out Karl’s genius in the way Ricky and Stephen did. It’s just too good
true. something like this will almost certainly never exist again. they do give a great feeling.
Ricky is on one in this episode...just torturing Karl to no end 🤣
Anyone else go and get mcdonalds after listening to this? I'm writing this while waiting for my nuggets in the drive through 🍔🍟🍗
Tim Main but often burger king will convenienter
Did you see how many you could fit in your mouth?
There's no record for nuggets!
Still listening after 10 years and loved every second of this show. Love when things get nasty between the boys - let the sparks flyyyy
This episode actually put me in a bad mood and I love these.
Yeah this one always puts me off
Karl saying “sorry Paul Ince” to Steve is one of the funniest moments of all of these shows.
One of the all-time great episodes.
‘What’s the matter with you, Karl? There’s people starv- you ate 62?’
Brent came out for half a sentence 😅
I don't think I'd ever heard the word "arbitrary" before these shows, and now after Steve says it about five times an episode I never want to hear it again.
I've noticed that too!
I'm going to use the word! This week!!
It's interminable
I'd never heard it either
Man alive.
The "Mr Freezepop incident" always cracks me up!
proper traumatised him
I've listened to these for a couple years now almost obsessively and somehow have never heard this episode before..it's like finding a pot of gold
"i'll be like the bloody dog on the winston churchill ad"
"Don't! Swear! On! Air!"
'You've got tea all over the world's smallest man!'
Most underrated Karl quote
Karl read the word "equivalent" in the dictionary this week 😂😂😂
"Is it 5 or is it 20 past 5?"
Lightning quick from Ricky there.
Cant believe how old these episodes are now. I'd love to still be able listen to them in another 13 years lol
This might be the best XFM show to date.
I just took the route that Steve would've taken from XFM to McDonald's in street-view on google maps. I'll have to make that walk part of my XFM pilgrimage when I go to London one day.
I've been to Christopher's Covent garden before, the restaurant Karl booked at the wrong place for new years.
This is such a fun idea, go in the steps of our legends.
You gotta try for the world record NOW...
The McDonalds isn’t there anymore, it used to be on the main road up to China Town. There’s a new one around the corner from the Lego shop in Leicester Square though, so you could sort of recreate it.
Pilkgrimage
This one sounds like a tape that the police would find and use as evidence
"GET ONE IN!"
"mmm mmm"
"PUSH IT! PUSH IT!"
"mmm MMMMMMM"
Hahahahaha
Some great transitions into songs here. Such as Steve Merchant buying the hamburgers transitioning into Eminem Sing for the Moment and, of course, Karl stuffing burgers in his face going into Night Swimming
If I had to pick one episode to never hear again it's this one. It's Ricky yelling "COME ON DO IT!" over and over. But yet here I am listening...
Lol yeah. I dunno why I'm listening to this ep again either!
24:11 Ricky turns into a literal firework.
(Followed by the little full-mouthed laugh noise from Karl)
Can't be the only one to notice they play "Clocks" right before they go on to roast Karl for being late lol
"You've got no features left" 😂😂
Man this one really goes off the rails
This episode is phenomenal.
43:56 It was beginning to look they would have to unplug Ricky and then plug him in again
+Eric Buist i know idk what that was
Ricky definitely needs a reboot most of the time from the about of mumbling he does.
He coulda played the android in the first Alien film! ;p
That episode was tough... And *I like* the show...
You ever have a friend that the more you hang out with him, the more he gets on your nerves?
This episode feels like that to me; from the beginning of Series 2 to this, you can feel Ricky and Steve getting more and more fed up with Karl's nonsense, with everything boiling over with this.
@@williamsmith666 Are you kidding?? It's the other way around. Ricky has made it his goal to annoy Karl more and more as the season progresses - just to keep us and himself entertained. Now they are jamming food down his throat! No wonder he loses it...
"That's the silliness aside, now let's get on with the proper show."
To be fair to Karl, songs of phrase is actually a very clever idea.
‘Well, cheers for that, but you’re still not on my team’
47:30 - I love Ricky's mental angry fit.
Me too. I can't stop laughing at it.
I love it too.
Quite possibly my favourite show they did. Would love for this to have been recorded for TV or something.
Or for radio or something...
@@AA-hg5fk Except you can’t see what’s happening on radio which is rather the point I was making so wtf point you making on a six year old comment you absolute mad man Richard pal
@@RodOfRassilon Chris has become an arrogant fool like most that obsess over this show
Need a Ricky DJ voice compilation!
"hickery-dickery docks, some lads there wrote a song called clocks, the lads are COLDPLAY!"
That exists, it's on the Amploid channel.
“You need to Karl, we need a new kitchen “😂😂😂😂😂
"we can get good at this, over the weeks"
it is in this episode that they combine for the first time "monkey news" and "chimpanzee that" to make the classic jingle "ohhh chimpanzee that monkey news!" haha..gotta love it just for that. 2021 and still listening
"You are John Thomson, go back"
SHAKIRALOVER1 Drink 8 pints..
Hickory, dickory dock, some lads there just wroted a song called Clocks.
Wroted! XD Following in the ways of The Squozen One I see! ;D
I do find it funny that you've got 2 millionaires begging Karl for 4 quid
Poor Steve, Karl getting annoyed because Steve was telling the truth.
Also funny how Karl says everyone steals his ideas even though all his ideas for shows are stolen from else where xD
Steve on the phone in McDonald's - the birth of Darren Lamb!
+Richard Steele Haha, just having a lovely bit of McMuffin
Haha! Though hopefully not at a table, with his cheeky pen! (;
This has the start of the classic Monkey News formula: Karl spouts a nonsense story(that he very likely knows is crap), Ricky goes ballistic while Steve tries to calm him down. The other Monkey News segments before this hadn’t quite tapped into this winning formula!
Yeah I noticed that too!
“The farest” when Karl talks about the dog swimming!! FAREST!!! 😂😂😂
I always want a burger after listening to this episode.
Rickys laugh at 24:14 is like a firework goin off, kills me every time I hear it 😄😄😄
This is the episode that it started to get a little nastier.
It started getting shoddy after Karl got Suzanne the condoms.
R4-P17 = world's stupidest troll. Check out comments on other vids.
@R4- P17 People need to stop with that.
Karl has said that he doesn't need other people to stand up for him. He knows Ricky is a bit of a dick and he accepts it and enjoys it (in some Karlesque type of way).
@R4- P17 It's obvious he meant defending him from Rick.
Hate to play Devil's Advocate, but I think over time Karl's nonsense was probably starting to get on Ricky and Steve's nerves the more they dealt with him. If you've ever had a friend like that you can't help but take the piss out if them every once and again when you've had enough.
It became apparent during Rockbusters when they became more and more (brilliantly) wrong.
After coming back through Series 2 all over again I feel the argument still stands. It's not just the nonsense, it's also his refusal to listen to reason that drove them nuts.
This is the one episode that truly shows they just do whatever they want on the radio show because it's just shouting n noise's for that ham burger challenge it's brilliant 😂😂
52:48 Steve sums up how annoying Ricky was in this episode.
E-Rizzle McInerny “fat and talentless” is the exact same description Steve gives of Chris Moyles. Makes me wonder if they fake the emails and make stuff up. Similar to when Steve said an emailer proposed that Ricky’s boxing name be “toad rage”. It sounded like a Smerch written name to me
@@andrewseguin9443 They are not gonna waste time scripting some random XFM show that barely anyone listened to back when it came out.
I didn’t say it was scripted. Just that they occasionally make stuff up and pretend a listener emailed it in to take away the blame of them saying it
@@andrewseguin9443 I doubt that
I love him but I hate Ricky in this too.
41:20 “...tea all over the world’s smallest man...”
Steve “Arbitrary” Merchant
He can't believe his luck
"Sure, sure..."
He's not a character, Dickster
Lest we forget
22:55 is for me the very pinnacle of the Ricky Gervais XFM show
Thank you for posting these!
Is the footage of the burger challenge available anywhere?
There is none, of which we know. It is the Holy Grail of the RSK-subculture.
Nah the webcam would just take occasional photographs on like a sideshow on the xfm website, wasn't a video feed unfortunately
@@Dprkr1 Ricky said he was filming it specifically for his DVD though :/
I look on this comment and the above 4 replies with such fondness and hope for the world.😍

Back around 02/05/22 just commenting on the odd video to see how long between loops for no other reason than why not?! Also interesting to see how many ppl still actively listening.
"You haven't taken your pants off with me yet"
Just you wait Karl
it’s easy to see why Karl was so depressed with these two
@Hey Now Imagine being famous for being stupid and being bullied by two twats, it's not hard to imagine being dissatisfied with your professional life.
Love all the lads tho
@Hey Now Not to mention he said "was" depressed. He wasn't a millionaire then.
R4- P17 I dunno I think Steven gets on my nerves more. He’s pretty prissy and nit picky sometimes. Still, XFM was legendary and is still my daily sleep program
Definitely but Karl didn't help himself by going along with this.
@@theweedledrop It doesn't help when you purposefully say stupid things or refuse to try. He can't even be bothered to write down the questions, or the answers, to the quizzes he makes then gets mad when asked to do that.
Some of these episodes are sort of intense aren't they?
I love how right from the beginning Steve is made to look like the arse he is by misremembering what Karl said and he proves himself wrong with the text
20th time through, and I just noticed 34:34 - Karl says his maam had wind for 5 minutes instead of his auntie. Obviously flub of speech, but funny!
I can see Nora being a front to save face for other family members.
