Hey guys, sorry for pinning this comment on all videos but I want to give you an update on the channel. I've been slowly adding a show archive to the videos including a full transcript added as sub titles and a full track listing (with links to UA-cam videos for each track). 10:36 Steve called the woman at the centre of the 'penis in the goulash' story "Sophie Something Something Something Something" because he found her surname too difficult to pronounce.
I don't know how many times I've heard this episode in the 15-odd years I've been listening to Gerv/Smerch/Dilk. Dozens. All those years, I just assumed that Steve's four 'somethings' meant that Sophie's surname was way too long and way too difficult to try and pronounce.
Today however, I decided to find the story, just to see the surname that Steve thought was too tricky to attempt.

But 3 seconds he later, he does then pronounce it right. It's not the easiest surname and I think he was just rushing to read it

Karl was never worried about perfection. That's why this show works. The awful Rockbusters clues. The terrible grammar of the Songs of Praise competition. It works cos Ricky slammed it whilst listeners lapped it up and ultimately it came from a genuine, irony-free place (Karl's mind). These shows need time-capsuling or sending to Mars or summat.
