If you're a vegan get off this video and stop bothering her. raising your own animals is the best thing you could do for your meat animals! you can assure they have the best life :-)
Vegans buy veggies from the supermarket but forget those veggies get pulled from the ground by 10 ton machines,. Killing moles, mice, rats and birds... but those arent cute enough for Tumbl. So they dont know.
Nope won't either, it's right in line w eating a dog or any animal. It's 2020 no one needs to be eating rabbits. This girl needs to lay off food period.
@@tylerjohn2098 nah there are no true vegan foods, also the way veggies are produced isn't sustainable or healthy for anyone or the environment.. way too many chemicals and the food needs to be grown so quickly and all look the same that the focus isn't on nutrition.. also you'd be surprised what veggie farmers have to / are allowed to do to farm their veggies for example a pea farmer that I heard of has a licensed to cull 1500 deer that eat his peas.. there's so much more the growing food. Not to even mention erosion, fertilisers and transportation. Grow your own it's better
I have a Californian male and a TAMUK female I'm looking to breed for meat, pelts and pets once they're of age. Not really big on show rabbits. The information you provide is priceless! I wish you and your homestead many blessings and tidings 💗

I'm a vegan, and I actually agree that we are meant to be omnivores. However, the reason I don't eat meat is because of how horrid the meat industry can be, especially for cattle. All the crowding, injections, forcefully impregnating animals instead of letting them breed naturally... Farms and people who free roam their meat animals and give them good lives before slaughtering them is okay with me. Just no torture houses.
@@tylerjohn2098 it’s not cruel. People need to eat. Some animals are carnivores and eat other animals. Humans are animals. It’s called nature. People had to hunt animals so they could eat and not starve.
@Max The Bunny I bet you’re only saying that cause you have a rabbit. I do too, and I love him but I’m not against eating meat. People need to eat, and food is food.

I'm also vegan but I plan to breed bunnies and quail for my dog. I want him to have the best quality diet and I want his food to live the best quality life.
Agree with everything int his video. Heads up to every one in or around Southern Missouri and Northern Arkansas, Pj Ford over at Grace Hollow Rabbitry has excellent New Zealand's she has white, red, black and blue (which was just recognized to be showable) and every variation of broken colors. Amazing quality and highly sought after.
I have a question i bought some rabbits for my backyard.... 3 of them are at 4 month of age (1 buck and 2 does) and 1 buck of age 5 years... How much they took to settle in new home? Is ir okay to have all of them together? When will they start breeding?
South Western VA, Roanoke Area. Do you know much about the building codes here? I know that the Common Wealth goes by the International Building Code, which DOES allow for Cob and other alternative structures. But I know that does not guarantee that I can legally do that. It's all strange. Any info you can help with would be great!!!! Also, I am so very excited about the Homesteading Conference. I was trying to figure out if we could afford going to the one in Nashville. Then I found you yesterday! God is good.
That's why we're doing it! There are so many people on the East Coast who simply can't afford to drive all the way to TN or PA or NY or NC. There are a lot of people in the "nooks and crannies" of rural East Coast that its just easier for them to come to VA!
Hi Thanks, that was a great video. I am just starting my operation up. I am picking up two Norigiens White Bucks and 4 Does. Do you now where I can find the Flem Whites. I live in Canada.
+Brandy T not typically. He is often up and out of here by 4:30, in the woods before dawn (so he can get a spot before sunlight). He normally goes before and after work. But I'm determined to go with him this year :)
Have you heard of meat rabbit breeding new zealand does x flemish giant bucks? I understand grow-out could be longer, but meat finish could be greater. Not sure on how birthing would be on does, I would assume the size by mother nature would still be okay. Anyone you have heard of try it that way?
I’ve seen them in Russia but very very rarely. Californians are very common, Rex are common and there tend to be a few other meat breeds such as French lops and Flanders ( I don’t like Flanders for their bone to meat ratio).
If you are going to just feed your own family I would go with Florida White, or Mini Rex. The New Zealand rabbits go through so much food and you end up with way too much rabbit meat way too often, great commercial rabbits, not a great homestead rabbit. I have been crossing Mini Rex and Florida white for a few generations in an attempt to get the perfect small Meat and fur rabbit. Rex fur on a giant rabbit puts the rabbit at risk of serious hock problems, unless you are not on wire floors. After I get my homestead meaty rex stabilized (if I can) I am going to see if I can make an even smaller rex fur rabbit as a novelty pet... the more I get into Rabbits the more I appreciate small eaters since I pay for their feed. Probably cross the smallest mini rex I can find with a dwarf breed.r
I have been pondering breeding rabbits for meat. My mother raised them I was growing up. I belong to a meat rabbit group and it seems like there are a lot of rabbits that get infections and get ill very easily and very quickly. I raise chickens and have had a lot of other animals so I know animals do get sick. I don't remember my mom ever having those issues. So I have two questions if you don't mind answering. 1) Are rabbits just simply not that healthy or would you think something else might be going on? 2) Is there still a market for rabbit fur?
Iv worked on my own bloodline that maybe one day will become a breed. I first bred two mini rex/calfornian mixes and got a smaller rabbit than the parents. Im now tossing in lionhead. My goal is a smallish fluffy dual purpose rabbit.
Are you still raising rabbits? I’m looking to raise them for meat. I’m sure they’ll be excess so I am also looking to sell the supplemental rabbits. But I was wondering how you sell yours. Thank you and I appreciate it!!
@@TheFewellHomestead that's what I'm thinking now after watching more videos. He has the same shape and colour as an otter rex, but his fur is long and similar to cats fur.
Silver Fox are excellent meat rabbits! We raise them for show, brood and meat purposes :) Bucks get between 9 and 11 lbs with 9 1/2 being ideal. Does get to be between 10 and 12 lbs with 10 1/2 being ideal. If his Silver Fox is super small, then he is either very young, or is of bad genetics. I would recommend going to a reputable breeder for meat breeding rabbits because the closer they breed to the Standard of Perfection, the higher the chance you will have of finding good meat breeding stock :)
Im wanting to get into meat rabbits. 1. I have a very large family. 2. We plan on moving out, farther away, and want to have meat without having to drive long distances to a store. Getting money back or just simply feeding my brood, I feel this is a great idea!! I love your vid! You said something about certain states not having good rabbits. What about Alabama?
absolutely disgusting and i don’t care that the comment section is dissing vegetables, every healthy diet has to include vegetables but killing rabbits for food is absolutely vile they are innocent harmless animals and it’s not necessary for a diet to include meat
I’m not saying that it’s impossible to be vegan but given that every vegan/vegetarian I have seen looks thin with dark eyes and complains about stomach issues I really don’t trust that diet
How dare you. I can't believe anyone could hold a beautiful animal, especially something as cute and helpless as a rabbit, and then later slaughter it for food. You don't fucking need to, you don't need it to survive, it's unnecessary and cruel. There are other sources of food that are better for you. Not only that but it's not healthy to eat meat. Are bodies are not designed for it, are digestive tracks are designed for vegetables not meat. If we were to try to bite into raw flesh we would most likely break our jaw. Actually were not omnivores. Humans are best suited to be herbivores. When looking at psychological and physiological we are herbivores. Ideal levels of cholesterol are only seen in herbivorous populations, ideal body weights in the U.S. are only seen in herbivorous populations, the longest living culture on earth is the most herbivorous culture, and pretending to be an omnivore is our leading cause of death. Most people believe that we are omnivores because they are behavioral omnivores. Just because someone eats both vegetables and meat, doesn't make them omnivores. Take the cat, an obvious carnivore, yet it eats grass in the wild. So by this logic cats would be omnivores, yet we deem them carnivores which is a double standard. Herbivores, omnivores, and carnivores are all classifications, and the fun thing about classifications is that they are all man made, so where does one start and another stop, where do you draw the line? Are you an herbivore if you eat 95% percent plants? 99%? But the question is what is best for humans. In our culture acting like an omnivore is normal, but it's also 'normal' to be sick. Most people have dangerously high cholesterol, and cholesterol is only found in animal products. And even paleo doctor himself, Loren Cordain says that the ideal level of LDL is between 50 and 70. When looking at real people the only ones with these numbers are herbivores, or vegans. It’s very important for a given animal to eat what they are physiologically and anatomically designed to eat, to improve the chances of survival and health. When looking at a species to determine what they are in terms of carnivore, omnivore or herbivore, we can look at their behavior or we can look at their biology. From a behavioral standpoint, humans behave as omnivores because we observe many humans in their behavior eating a wide variety of both animal and plant-based foods. Biologically, however, from a physiologic and anatomic standpoint, it’s a different story.Dr. Williams C. Roberts from the National Institutes of Health and Baylor University - who is the editor-in-chief of the American Journal of Cardiology and one of the most prominent cardiologists in the world with over 1,500 publications in peer reviewed medical journals - summarized our answer very nicely. He wrote: Although most of us conduct our lives as omnivores, in that we eat flesh as well as vegetables and fruits, human beings have characteristics of herbivores, not carnivores. The appendages of carnivores are claws; those of herbivores are hands or hooves. The teeth of carnivores are sharp; those of herbivores are mainly flat (for grinding). The intestinal tract of carnivores is short (3 times body length); that of herbivores, long (12 times body length). Body cooling of carnivores is done by panting; herbivores, by sweating. Carnivores drink fluids by lapping; herbivores, by sipping. Carnivores produce their own vitamin C, whereas herbivores obtain it from their diet. Thus, humans have characteristics of herbivores, not carnivores. That’s right. Humans have characteristics of herbivores, not carnivores or omnivores.
Comments only yeah she doesn't need them to survive she can go to walmart and buy some meat from cows chickens pigs where do you think that comes from you need to start realizing you just don't want to see how it happens
I have to disagree with that, the only reason we as a species evolved to a level which gave you the ability to write obviously incorrect statements is the fact that we developed the use of fire to eat and digest meat more easily thus allowing our brains to grow bigger because of the extra protein. Prior to that humans ate meat raw (without "breaking their jaws"). Also, canine teeth and binocular vision are evolutionary signs of a predator which hunts and eats animals as part of it's diet. It's scientific fact that humans are omnivorous. Vegetarianism and Veganism are modern choice based concepts for our species, not a biological norm.
Comments only you do realize vegetarians and vegans almost always have deficiencies in most B vitamins (especially B12) which is very detramental to your health and generally reduces quality of life right?
GracefullAnimals You kill animals by existing, you just don't have to see it. When you eat meat, eggs, milk, even many plants animals died for that. When you sit in your home that was once a forest animals died for that. As you ride in the car millions of bugs and small animals died for that convenience. When you walk and step on bugs others die because of your existence. When you use cosmetic products and medicine animals died for those too. That's life. The goal to me isn't to never kill, it's minimizing suffering. Yes, others have to die for you to live, avoid it when you can and make it as humane as possible if you can't. I'd rather raise my own animals and know from birth to death the animals were pain free, they had space to move and good food and social interaction, and they died a clean, painless death. That's taking responsibility for your own existence, even if that means you have to bloody your own hands instead of paying someone else to do it for you.
I am a vegetarian and I still think it is cruel to eat other livings animals because the have feelings also they are social creatures. And they do not deserve to be killed it's a disgrace I have 2 pet bunnies and they are family to me and I just think it's plain up wrong to eat these helpless creatures, so why don't you shut up and and eat our freaking vegetables
I don't really understand why you vegetarian/vegans continue to come to these types of pages if you are sooooooo against meat animals. All your doing is torturing yourself by watching these videos and forcing carnivores to roll their eyes and think you have issues. Just does not make sense to me.
Your right Hui ..Lol.... Sooo sad for the plants.....I think meat and plants have there place...Right next to my mashed potatoes and gravy..Thank you Emma for sharing you sad...sooo sad..Sniff sadness for the succulent ...juicy rabbits..
How cruel ! You are breeding rabbits to be eaten ! Raised them with your own hands and murder them with blood all over .Taking their children like you're the mother. Shame on you !
No killing is worth taking thousands of innocent lives to feed your family. There are many ways to eat without taking others lives for your OWN purposes.Their lives don't belong to you , leave them off your plate. Shame on you. Holding them like a pet when they end up looking at the eyes of a killer.
My Misaki Beauty shame on you for eating all their food with your vegetarian antics. Seriously, this convo is hilarious. I swear I hope you're a vegan, because if you aren't, these are the most hypocritical comments I've ever read.
At least she's doing something useful for animals and the environment by taking responsibility for herself and her family and growing her own. You're just a parasitic sponge who depends on others to grow all your food. You're in no position to be talking down to anybody, honey. Get off farm channels if you haven't got a spine handle it and go be a pretentious twat to other phonies who can't fend for themselves. You're just a shameful embarrassment to yourself.
How cruel people on farms raise cows and goats and other for meat. But oh no, no one cares about that, everyone just cares about a cute fluffy animal (sarcastic). We eat to live, oh well and if you vegetarian shame on you for eating there food.

He wrote:
Although most of us conduct our lives as omnivores, in that we eat flesh as well as vegetables and fruits, human beings have characteristics of herbivores, not carnivores.
Humans have characteristics of herbivores, not carnivores or omnivores.
you wasted your time writing that
I'm sorry, I stopped reading after the misuse of "are" instead of "our" the first four times....
I'm disgusted
Same
i could not sleep at night if i ever killed an animal
GracefullAnimals it's more humane than store bought.
GracefullAnimals if yo accidentally stepped on an ant, Tat mean yo killed an insect. Yo gonna pray to sin forgiveness?
Then why do you watch these videos? Werido.
Good may Darwin take you.
This is cruel to eat rabbits there lives matter also they are living creatures just like us
I am a vegetarian and I still think it is cruel to eat other livings animals because the have feelings also they are social creatures.
Just does not make sense to me.
vegetable is also a living thing why dont u feel sad for the plants
Your right Hui ..Lol.... Sooo sad for the plants.....I think meat and plants have there place...Right next to my mashed potatoes and gravy..Thank you Emma for sharing you sad...sooo sad..Sniff sadness for the succulent ...juicy rabbits..
Why did you even click on this video?
How cruel !
You are breeding rabbits to be eaten ! Raised them with your own hands and murder them with blood all over .Taking their children like you're the mother. Shame on you !
Um, yeah, that's kind of the point. They are tasty little suckers. I feed my family, you don't. Shame on you! ;)
No killing is worth taking thousands of innocent lives to feed your family. There are many ways to eat without taking others lives for your OWN purposes.Their lives don't belong to you , leave them off your plate. Shame on you. Holding them like a pet when they end up looking at the eyes of a killer.
Maybe instead of holding it like a pet you should have swung it around by the ears?? lol
Good grief of all things..
How cruel to raise them for meat
Lola Kearney not really
How cruel people on farms raise cows and goats and other for meat. But oh no, no one cares about that, everyone just cares about a cute fluffy animal (sarcastic). We eat to live, oh well and if you vegetarian shame on you for eating there food.
@@biancamijarez9057 all of it is cruel. How would you like to be slaughtered and eaten?
@@courtneyraewellness That is very close to a threat.
