A Review of the Pocket Cue V2 Teleprompter by Prompter People

- Today, I'm reviewing Prompter People's Pocket Cue V2 Teleprompter series. As a content creator on UA-cam, this was a serious game-changer for my workflow. No more memorizing and fumbling over scripts! The Pocket Cue V2 is unique in its modular design. You can use this with a smartphone to film in portrait or landscape mode for vertical video OR use as your scrolling display. It also works great with mirrorless cameras with the option to upgrade to a freestanding kit that keeps the teleprompter unit separate from your camera and tripod. It's portable, easy to assemble and very affordable for the value offered!

That honestly looks like a great piece of equipment! The pie chart really sold me though. And the modeling of the carrying bag
Someone may lose her moniker of awkward if she keeps up those moves.
I just want to make fake pie charts all day. 😂
Lol! That would be awful, but the awkward is strong. I don't think it's going anywhere!
@@AwkwardAnthems thank God!!!
I should make a pie chart of different pies I like.

Great effect🎉😊
Most youtubers start with an unearned confidence in front of the camera, and have to build their production level skills over the years.
Awkward Anthems: "lol nah, hold my scepter and watch this!"
This was such a fun video for being a review of a thing I don't need, would watch more of these, just for fun
Aww, that's really sweet! Thanks for your comment. I guess I need a scepter now, cause all I have are oversized plastic props. 😂
This was a fantastic review. Commercials pale next to this. 👍
Looks good, I buy after your review. Hope you do a follow-up after using it for a while.
Thanks, Bob!! ✨
@@ebattleon That's awesome! Hope you love it as much as I do. 🤓
Great review! Do you think this teleprompter would travel well? I shoot only on location. I’m not looking to break the bank as I don’t always use a teleprompter, but I definitely need one for some of my clients.
Well, I learned something today!
It'd take a network of miracles for me to ever *need* a product such as this, but learning is always a good thing, thanks! 👍🏻
Used to work a teleprompter at a local network affiliate station. For the newscast. You can speed them up or slow them down to mess with people = ) But ONLY in rehearsal.
@@classicslover Hahaha! Yeah, you just *know* I'd be messing with that whilst live! 😂🤣😂🤣😂
Well, in the .0001% chance that changes, maybe this will save you an extra step! lol
@@Liam_Oliver Oh yeah...= )
@@AwkwardAnthemsWell, I *do* seem to be tech support for everyone and their dog, so *ANY* tech knowledge is useful, even if I don't benefit from it directly!
One of the things I never thought I would do is to laugh during a video about teleprompters. I do not even care about teleprompters! Hell, I can barely pronounce it.
Love your energy and sense of humor and looking forward to video about teleprompter lenses variations :)
Very cool Amy! This was a great review!
Thanks, Positivity! 💛🌈
Great vid.! Really love your putting chapter/timelinks in the description. Thank you! Affordable gear too!
Thanks, Troy! Glad the chapter markers help. 🤓
"I'm not a glass expert, but I do have eyes.."
Commentary like this is what keeps me watching! I really laughed out loud
LOL! Laughter achieved. I live for comments like this, since I can't watch anyone's actual reaction. 😂
Quality for my $ has been an speed bump. Thank you for your review, the prices are in line with my expectations. 🦌 Santa, can you hear me? 🦌 BTW: It's not possible to do less memorization than the none I do now. 🤣🤣 Happy Thanksgiving 🙏🧡
"...than the none I do now." 😂 Happy Thanksgiving to you too, Bling Auntie!
Great for you to have found something to help reduce the stress of producing videos and improve your work!
Thanks, Resileaf! Yes, it's been a huge help with filming. 😃
As a 34th century SnakeShip Salesman, I'm just here for the commercials...
... great job Little One. If the prompter people aren't completely satisfied with your exellent review , I will of course have some of the ASP swing by their offices and "talk" some sense into them (in a completely deniable way of course, DoN't PaNiC, space pirates are good at this sort of thing;-).

You are rad. Seriously also your editing is fantastic. Have an awesome day.
Great review! I do amateur videos as a hobby, and when I’m a talking head, I have a little desktop tripod for my Sony ZV1 camera, and a small prompter, and I use PromptSmart Pro, which is voice driven. I love having my little budget prompter set up.
Hey Bruce- Thanks for sharing! Voice driven- that's a cool feature!
Great overview! 👍We really like the PrompterPeople hardware. Quality stuff.
Thanks, Fluid Prompter! Agreed. Their whole product line is really solid. 🏆
Sweet. Was contemplating a prompter. I think I'll give it a try.
you're awesome!! great review!! thanks!
I do video lectures and there are a few things that really helped my video production (and though it is still pretty bad). But because I don't derive money directly from the videos, I have little budget for production. So over the years, I did 3 main things:
1/ Audio. Move from a headset mic to a Yeti; sound quality is so much better. Debating trying a lapel mid at the moment.
2/ Lights. I stopped shooting when the sun is down and now shoot during 10AM-2PM for natural light (through white semi opaque blids to get diffuse light), I changed light bulb in my recording room to white LEDs for additional lighting, and added a ring light to remove facial shadows
3/ Editting. Switched from a free video editing tool to Davinci Resolve. I wasted too much time on bad editting UI on the past software.
Looks neat 😄
1) You look just like Hermione
2) You should do mics next. I feel like Rode is the standard, but curious to see what else you have in your setup.
1) So I've been told! I must have a sister I don't know about. 2) Rode is actually all that I use currently. I have a link in my description, if you're curious to see what my whole kit consists of. I'd love to do a more in-depth video on that soon for the tech crowd. Thanks for the suggestion! ✨
I'm five and a half cans short of a six pack today after dinner with the family. However, I just wanted to wish Amy, Morgan, and mom a happy Thanksgiving and I'm not one of the cool kids who can DM you. Just for you three, a wish for a happy Thanksgiving goes out to the Awkwardians (I think that's we decided to call ourselves), and anyone else you feel needs or deserve it. I can't wait for the next stream!
Aww, thanks John! We hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving as well. Hope to see you in tomorrow's stream! 🤗
Awesome! I haven’t got the budget for a hardware based teleprompter so I’ve used an app (while recording on the same phone) - literally just called Video Teleprompter - which was very helpful to me but I can see how much easier it would be with a hardware system like this!
Nice! So you film and prompt from your phone at the same time? I think you've got me beat on portability there.
Thanks
Cool review, one question we have is how does it compare in ease of use to the elegato prompter for folks who use it to livestream their own content?
To answer your question, for our production work we have the earlier standalone model, the Prompter People D11 (13 or 15 inch screen) with the heavy duty tripod, and use their q1 software to run the laptop.
A bit of a long set up time getting the pieces together when we take it on the road, which makes me wonder if they’ll do exchange taking in older gear for new one.. that would be awesome
i subscribed because of your funny intro.
🙏💙🌼
Was the EyeDirect for intimate interviews, but building an interrotron with this + a bigger Prompter People teleprompter kit to replace it since it's falling apart and has always been annoying to set up
Aww, thanks! This was a huge labor of love for me, so I'm glad you enjoyed it! Craig is a gem. 💫
I wonder how this compares to the elgato prompter... especially since it is much more expensive.
Oooh, I have no idea. Maybe someone else can chime in! I'd be curious to know too.
The Elgato prompter is great for the price, just like a Point and Shoot is great for the price, but this one is nothing like the Elgato (You are stuck with one monitor, one webcam "Their webcam or yours") and one use case, where as this one you are able to use a tablet, smartphone, monitor, and larger cameras (Only limited by the overall lens diameter) like comparing a Point and Shoot to an FX3
@@cinestyleinc6159 huh? A bit confused. All of my friends use a dslr with their elgato prompter. You can use a webcam, dslr with a wide angle lens, or a phone. As far as what you can use for the monitor sure I guess you can use all that stuff but I’d rather have a large monitor than a phone or tablet. And you can put anything on it and incorporate it easily with other programs. The elgato software makes it very powerful. Comparing it to a point and shoot is unfair. It seems more like an A7iv and maybe an fx3. And I still wonder if for say talking head UA-cam videos you need more than an A7iv these days or even that.
@@CreativeMindsAudio Sorry, yes you can use a smaller mirrorless camera with one of the swappable backs - didn't realize they had that. I think it comes down to glass quality and customizability. I use Prompter People Teleprompters regularly so I am a fan of their products (I also shoot content for them) My first impressions of the Elgato Prompter was at a tradeshow and I was not that impressed with the overall quality and the def are not using optical quality glass at that price point (They are likely using the same glass iKan and GMV uses) which can causes color shifting from A/B Camera shoots but if you have a ATEM Mini ISO and a compatible camera you can correct for the color shift. I've also had some first hand experience with the 4K model Prompter People is putting out with the Pocket Cue and it is a way better image than that of Elgato but the price point is not going to be competitive as they are paying more than Elgato is selling to have it made.
@@cinestyleinc6159 Thanks for sharing, Cine Style!
Shill it, baby!
Was involved in over 70 stage productions. THAT is a LOT of scripts to memorize. Just recently went to WalMart. But forgot my wallet. Can you help me rig a teleprompter for that kind of thing?
Up until very recently I was able to read anything (provided it was on paper) and recall it verbatim. 20 years ago I used to print off Technical Data and Method Sheets for recoding/programming new modules in BMW's (and Minis) and I could still flash a new CAS module blindfolded. But can I remember what I just went to the kitchen for? Cam I bollocks. 😤
Weirdly never forgot my wallet. But then I've had a system for eons. Although I find my mobile is great for making reminders, notes, or even lists. Maybe we should develop an app, we could call it the 'Pocket Prompter'... 👍🏻
That is indeed A LOT of scripts to memorize. Your brain's like, "We can do this, but there will have to be some compromise!" lol
@@Liam_Oliver IMPRESSIVE! Annnd...hopefully, healing is happening for you? Very much on the mend?
@@AwkwardAnthems I think you may have assessed the situation very accurately there, my friend! = )
@@classicsloverErrrmmm... Not really? I'm off to see a cardiologist next week. Which is new. And somewhat concerning.
Jajaja
That flashdrive looks like USB-A not USB-C
