I can't remember if correct but I found this world in 1993 and this movie was first or top 5 at least that made me well up and cry (most movies even sad ones I struggle to cry to)
It is implied that Russel's parents are divorced. His dad remarried to the person named Phyllis. He's too busy with his new family to be there for Russell sadly :(
The fact that the start of up makes people more emotional than whole films is still one of my favourite things, the whole film is great but the opening is masterful storytelling
4:55- The bit where they're in the hospital, they discovered Ellie can't have children. It's okay because Carl and Ellie have each other and their relationship IS the adventure. 9:24- What I love about this film it teaches people to let go. Carl tends to hold on the past and stay stuck where he is, but at the end he realizes that Ellie never wanted that for him. She wants him to keep having adventures and thanked him for the one he gave to her.
I think they left the details of russels tough home life ambiguous on purpose so its more relatable to everyone. Also because its a kids movie. My personal opinion, is it contrasts how ellie couldn't have children. I think Russell's parents didn't want him or have problems with drugs. Its ironic and good writing because carl and ellie would've probably been good parents but the universe didn't allow for that.
All you missed is that Russell has a deadbeat dad and a crappy caregiver. His dad is one of those, “Oh, sure, I’ll come to that important thing, son,” kinda dads who say that to look like they care but never show up. He came to see him when it was convenient and couldn’t be bothered later. He was never coming to that meeting.
@@lukesmith3356 Yeah, all Karen's throughout history have been horrible because people decided to quite literally ruin a whole-ass name within a few years cause they really wanted to make fun of middle-aged white women.
You didn't miss anything. Russel's dad is a selfish a-hole and didn't come to his wilderness badge ceremony. It seems his guardian (forget her name) was there though, so that's nice. I'm glad Russel ended up with a father figure in his life.
Nah i think that was his mom at the ceremony, just looked like him, 'Phyllis' is the fathers girlfriend (pixar wiki says so.. i thought his secretary first though).
The house they based the house on is in Seattle. I walked in front of it several times without knowing until it was pointed out to me. It’s in a district named Ballard. Most people don’t realize the treasure in front of them, but that’s nothing new.
Carl and Ellie were so desperate for kids… and there’s Russell. Desperate for a dad… they both needed each other. Also 33:20 🤣🤣. $25.99 for the window cleaning Muntz 🤣.
Great editing on this, and a fun reaction. My wife can't watch this movie without bawling her eyes out at the beginning and at his finding the note from Ellie.

If the opening doesn't bring you to tears, nothing can. And Carl giving Russel the Ellie badge brings out a different kind of tears. This was one of the best Pixar movies ever made, and I won't hear a word against it.
It’s hard not to tear up watching this. I’m loving these reactions so much, they get me through some really difficult days. Thank you for posting these, we can’t get enough of them!

I love that you never even hear adult Ellie speak, and you don’t need to. You can tell exactly who she is and almost what she sounds like just by watching all of her and Carl’s perfect little interactions. This is an annual rewatch for my fiancée and I, even though it still makes me cry every year. Kind of hard to choose but I also think Russell is my favorite Pixar character - he’s truly the heart and soul of this movie
As far as "is this legal" I think its illegal because he's in airspace and not in contact with air traffic control, which I do think is VERY illegal actually. 😅
It seems the boy's recounting of the rare times with his dad, denoted that the father abandoned him and his mom. He recounted the few things out of shame. Sad touching sweet ending movie. Even the animals had a nice ending. Carl sucked in his later life due to all the loss, loss of love, health, people.
Hey man, I just wanted to let you know I love your content. Your reactions are always fun, and you seem like a super cool dude. Happy New Year, and keep doing what you’re doing.

I love this movie too.
Also, when this came out my friend refused to watch it and I told her it was just as good as finding Nemo and she said “shut your mouth” The next week I begged her to watch it, then on Monday she came back to school and could barely look at me because she said I was right and that it was a sad and sweet movie
The one thing that always bugged me about this movie is how old is muntz supposed to be ?! Like Carl is OLD and muntz was an adult and when Carl was little so is Carl like 70 and muntz like 90?!
Maybe with having to live “alone” in the wilderness, Muntz has been healthy with all the hard work living such a life would involve. That’s my guess 😂 But he deff looks at least 20-30 when he left
Bless you Leo, thank you for the entertainment thru the years. Hope you had a happy new year. Glad that you seemed to enjoy this movie, I loved this when I was a kid and I suppose I still do. Peace and love
