      nice video ,
      If anyone else is wants to find out
      where to buy tattoo designs online try *Awsomic Tattoo Designs* (do a search on google)?
      Ive heard some pretty good things about it and my co-worker got cool success with it.

    This is a beautiful art form. We think of art in general as something we view outside of ourselves and experience in that way, but this art is actually ON ourselves, where we can never view it from the outside. And Horimyo's use of contemporary methods to create his designs shows his progressiveness and ability, as an artist, to make something new.

    I really love watching these videos and being able to get a glimpse of traditional and contemporary Japanese culture. The tebori tattoos are beautiful, although the process looks very painful. Thank you for uploading this :)

    I live in Japan and there are a lot of tebori masters of this technique. But many work underground. Some of them are on IG.

    I have heard it both ways. Some people say that this hurts less and that they have fallen asleep while getting work done. Others say that its much more painfull.

  • @KATinBLACK

    I heard tebori tattoos were the most painful kind to get but the best because they're unique and more detailed.

    • @ams914
      @ams914 10 років тому

      I think it's just that the artists that do tebori are more talented, not that there is any real advantage, but I'm not sure about that.

    @zusuky21 i dont know...i think with modern tats you get what you pay for, it all depends on the artist, their equipment and the quality of the ink. Ive seen some pricey tats that have still to this day never faded and look like they were printed or like someone slapped a pic on them due to how much detail is in it. Btw you wanna see old school tats? This is nothing, look at tatau's. They had to hammer it into your skin and there was no metal or stone to make it easier, all wood ;)

    I usually see these kinds of japanese tattoo art on yakuzas in movies or something. Is this also the way yakuzas get their tattoos? I draw but imagine the precision of this art. Amazing!

    • @tristanberke8759
      @tristanberke8759 9 років тому +4

      Yakuza get their tattoos either way. But the really good ones get it this way. it is proof of their toughness to be able to get horimono all by tebori. It takes YEARS. and is very painful. But the Yakuza are some badass people. So obviously pain doesn't matter for them.

    • @hallaballaalla123
      @hallaballaalla123 9 років тому

      +Tristan Berke i think the machine hurts more, becuse its going mutch faster and deeper in to the skin, but when you get a hand poked tattoo it feels like the needles are just scratching the surface of your skin.

    • @tristanberke8759
      @tristanberke8759 9 років тому +1

      Eric Ny I've actually gotten tattooed both ways while it is true that the machine goes deeper and is faster, tebori takes years, decades even. To do horimono. A machine will take about a years worth of appointments.

    • @hallaballaalla123
      @hallaballaalla123 9 років тому

      +Tristan Berke i can imagine how it will take allot of time! do you like the machin better then tebori? i want to try tebori but here in norway thats not a very common way to get tattooed.

    • @tristanberke8759
      @tristanberke8759 9 років тому +3

      +Eric Ny I am not a masochist so I don't exactly love pain. but I find tebori very relaxing. while the machine is just a constant buzz and pain.

    I had it done and it hurts more than the gun with outlines but coloring etc is much better this style. It takes so long though.... 10 hours plus for a small piece

    bones and pig's teeth, in fact. The needles themselves (well, the row of needles) weren't made of wood.

  • @xMACHOxMANx

    Would this hurt more than getting a tattoo from electric needles?

    • @ianthetech1455
      @ianthetech1455 7 років тому +1

      I disagree. The machine moves so fast and you don't feel any "pokes" except the first. With this style you will feel EVERY poke of the needles. It's art as well as a spiritual journey.

    • @rubenowns
      @rubenowns 10 років тому

      I have to follow Martin Tiffany ! Tebori is MUCH more painfull than machine!
      I dont have anny experience with Tebori but my tattoo artist studied the tradional way in Japan and he says it's like getting stabbed with a knife over and over!

    • @BeylaKaythin
      @BeylaKaythin 10 років тому +2

      It depends on the artist. If he is skilled, no, then it is less painful. If not... prepare for a lot of knife stab moments.

    • @Sora7898teh2nd
      @Sora7898teh2nd 10 років тому +2

      It hurts less than the machine and it heals faster too :3 like about 3 days

    • @CircaInfinity
      @CircaInfinity 9 років тому +1

      All pain depends on the individual; if you asked me if getting my hand tattoo hurt because you wanted to get one, I'd say that it hurt less than the tattoo on my ribs and wasn't that bad. My friend has had his hand done, and he said it was the most painful piece he's had done. It's hard to say whether tebori is more or less painful because everybody's pain threshold is different. Whether it heals faster or not I wouldn't know.
