Eleven Warriors film study host noted that OSU, who is known as a zone run team, DID NOT RUN ONE ZONE PLAY. Just maybe they finally figured out that the over-reliance on zone put our O line at a disadvantage where our guys over the years have been consistently caught on their heels, surrendering leverage early and often by letting the defenders under their pads with the inevitable TFL and LOS ending up on our side of the ball. Urban Meyer noted the latter on BTN in a look at the Michigan game film. This has given the appearance of our big guys being soft over the years. On Saturday our guys were firing off the ball, staying under the pad level of the opponent, establish leverage against the defenders, resulting in control of the LOS. Note I did not say domination. That's coming if they keep it up, but the coaches have to stay out of their way.
Yes. OSU played great against Tennessee but don’t forget that the Ducks almost put up a 50 burger against a very solid Penn State team. They looked scary on offense.
Penn State didn’t expose anything about Oregon. Penn State has weapons and Oregons defense had an off night. No side off the ball on any team is perfect or immune to not playing to the standard, it’s a long season. It’s like saying g your close game against Nebraska somehow exposed you. Hell no, just wasn’t your A game.
6;05 There is a risk to the way Ohio State played against TN. If you can't execute against a faster defense like the Oregon defense, you will have a bunch of 3 and out's. That puts pressure on your defense and if Oregon goes tempo and keeps the defense on its toes, then to many 3 and outs can wear down your defense really fast and expose you to easy scores downfield. IF we see Ohio State go 3 and out their first two series, that means Oregon neutralized their scheme for this game and they will have to go to plan B.
For Ohio State to beat Oregon the OSU defense must get to the Oregon QB and pressure him every time he goes back to pass. No let up and give him no breathing room.
~ Oregon is a different animal than Tennessee..... Oregon can torch ANY secondary in the country. Oregon has an elite Offensive Line. Oregon has two dominant running backs. Oregon has the best Defensive Tackle in the country and first round draft pick Derrick Harmon. Oregon has the most experienced Defensive Backs in the country.. Oregon has the best QB in the Playoffs...
~ These guys don't seem to get that Dillon Gabriel has the quickest release in the country and the Oregon WRs lead the country in yards after catch. Oregon Tightends Terrance Ferguson and Kenyon Sediq and NFL Tightends and Ferguson is the program record holder for Tightend receiving......
Has anyone pondered the question why our best O lineman is a 3 star transfer from Alabama? Could it be that Day and Frye did not have enough time to screw him up like the rest of our big guys? Montgomery was outstanding Saturday and Hinzman has been excellent, especially at left guard, so why have they been on the sideline for most of the year? Could it be that our genius coaches have been recruiting and evaluating starters on the stupid, bad habit developing, zone blocking schemes that our big guys have not been able to consistently execute for years, so they really don't know what they have in non-zone run plays. The waste of all that skill position talent in Judkins and Henderson drives me crazy when I think about it.
As an Oregon fan, I honestly wish Ohio St would've beat Michigan, so we would've seen this game later in the CFP. I'm looking forward to a great game. Sco Ducks!!!
lol, when did they knock them senseless the first time? Oregon is hating life right now, they did not want to see Ohio State again and we will all see why first day of the year 2025.
@@acharles5751 Well that would have been in the early part of the 2021 season when Mario Cristobal took the dux there and really dominated. Ohio State should have made a return trip to Eugene in 2022 but never did.
@@rawn4203 7 point win is really not senseless lol, but honestly I am glad they did not have to play that game in 2022, that was a crazy tough environment up in Eugene in week 6 and one of the best I have seen, this is the championship game, the best two teams for sure.
4:32 Wrong. The Penn State O line is better than the Ohio State O line right now. Penn State was able to run on Oregon but could not pass. Ohio State was not able to run on Oregon with a better O line that they have now. This game is going to come down to execution of two team that will have the same game plan. Attack space with your receivers and see what secondary can tackle the best. Take the occasional deep shot to see if you can get home but Oregon will run between the tackles more than Ohio State. Ohio State will throw the ball to its backs more this time around to try to beat Oregon on the edge and have its receivers block. Both teams will come out with tempo. Last time, Oregon started with tempo and did not stop. Ohio State could not deal with that. A huge advantage for Ohio State is their red zone defense. This game will be decided in the red zone. If Oregon cannot get in from the red zone like last game, where it left 14 points inside the 10 yard line, this game will come down to a field goal again.
Oregon should be playing at home for this game. This playoff format needs changed. Ohio state is the 8 seed and is rewarded a home playoff game? Oregon is the 1 seed and has to play all neutral site? Sounds fair.
Then you must have a coaching problem, no reason not to be rolling at home against your biggest rival who is having a down season and beaten you 3 in a row.
Wow, our genius coaches finally figured out that our guys are terrible in zone blocking schemes. They finally let our big guys just fire off the ball instead of standing up at the LOS, letting defenders under their pads, and surrendering leverage. How about evaluating your starters in non-zone blocking plays. Luke Montgomery was a beast at times, so why has he been sitting on the sidelines? Could it be that our genius coaches have been evaluating starters in zone dominated game plans, where our big guys have sucked for years.
OSU is going look just as good against Oregon. The Formula for OSU is CLEAR. You open up the opposing defense by AGGRESSIVELY attacking their secondary. You attack the linebackers with the Backs and TE... while attacking vertically. You get their defense on its heels and YOU DO NOT LET UP. Step 1 Get up as quickly as possible to 14-0 DEMORALIZE THEIR OFFENSE. They made adjustments and we let off the gas and almost let them back in the game.
You’re NOT PLAYING TENNESSEE! Ohio st isn’t going to play like they did because they CAN’T against a team that will make them pay wher Tennessee couldnt
@@dougrockhold723you should rewatch the game from a neutral perspective. Oregon left 18 points off the board and Ohio at was gifted 7 after a bad call by refs early. No one pays attention to those things early. All anyone wants to talk about is the last drive in which Ohio st coaches called bad plays. Yes a questionable call but that happened all night both sides of the ball.

May need more zone to not get beat deep by TJ and ES. Plus they have two big TEs and two RBs. Best O in country. That is their strength. I still think OSU has better RBs and WRs though.
