If they could get the Angels to pay 80% of his salary, I'd take a flier on Trout. I'd like to see what he's still capable of if he could stay healthy for the full season.
I’m surprised that Phillies aren’t calling The Rockies about Kris Bryant is available for a trade . He couple yrs younger than trout and most likely the Rockies would dump his salary like they did with Nolan Arenado trade to the cardinals and get some lower level prospects in return …
I think one of the main issues with Trout is that he carries way to much weight for a baseball player.. He is listed at 240, but looks like he is really 250ish... I really think if he slims down to 210/215, changes his workouts to prioritize flexibility, and cleans up his diet I think he could play at a high level for another 5 years in RF. If the Angels agree to take on the vast majority of his contract I think it's a no brainer, he would look great in a Phillies uniform.
Only thing worse than overpaying for Soto is trading away the farm for a cripple like Trout. Angels so far been reaping the Phillies farm the past few years like literal bandits.
Trout is one of my favorite players of all time!!! Legend. I agree 💯. If he could stay healthy, which I don't think he could, I would be praying for this. But I think Santander, if u can get him? Sorry Mike. And even Soto. I am more of a Santander guy right now. Soto is really hot right now. But it would be a great fit with Bryce and Turner. If you can't get either of them then bring Mike Home!!!!
This should be a last resort, or preferably a no resort. Trout has acknowledged his injury history and last I heard, he and the Angles are moving him to DH. And we do need another mid 30 y/o player on a long term deal. I'd rather dump money and try to get Soto here just because of his age, but he seems to fit well in NY. But Trout shouldn't be an option at this point. I don't want to have 15 years of "rebuilding" ina. Few years because they have 3+ players out of their prime pn long term mega deals that can't be unloaded.
Absolutely not. I don't think Trout will ever play a full season of baseball again. Angels would have to eat half his remaining contract. Trout hasn't appeared in 140 games since 2018. That's six years ago.
Back injuries linger around for the rest of your life. It would be awesome if he could stay healthy. I have no doubt he would do great in Philly, it's just the injuries... watch him have a great season with the angels if we don't grab him lol
Guys, this is just standard, typical "hot stove" (generous in calling it that) rumours for clicks. Not accusing PD of clickbaiting, I mean the idea of Trout going to the Phils in the first place. It would be so beyond stupid for management to trade for Trout as a plan to "improve" the team in the first place. BUT WAIT! The Angels will randomly decide to eat the contract cause... reasons? I mean, WHY NOT trade for him w/ that miracle? I'm not buying Trout for real or the stories. Phillies really need to get it together here cause if you "want to win a championship", well you need to beat the Los Angeles Dodgers and good luck with that, Dave and Rob.
The ball park is not big enough M. Trout in left Crawford Jr. In center .we have a gold glove infield. Give stubborn 1 million make him a bench coach bring up one of 2 catchers to backup. JT. No one going to win a world series without a legitimate closer. And we can do the same thing the Dodgers did differ the money. If not going to hit 40 homerun then hit line drivers. If your get 600 at bats then you got walk more thing 30 times.
Not a clutch player. Has 3 seasons with 100 RBIs . Never had 200 hits in a season or 40 doubles. Reading the comments I see that many of you Phillie fans don’t want him . When I hear Trout wanting to stay with the Angels it has nothing to do with being loyal. He wants no part of the Phillie fans and media. Same with NY or Boston.
The Dodgers whipped the TAR out of the Yankees really goes to show how bad and stinking it is to be a Philadelphia Sillies fan. Dodgers beat the MLB darling child 4-1, where the sillies probably would have gotten swept.
He's still a great player you are looking at it wrong.. you can't compare the Angels organization with the Phillies organization.. not even a little.. Angels never had anybody but bums besides trout and otani Phillies are willing to go out and get pieces around them and already have pieces around him... the Angels did not,,so what he did in the Angels is not what he will do at the Phillies... you can't look at it that way that is incorrect this isn't basketball.. personally I would be going after O'Neill from the Red Sox a guy that can play left or center with a good bat I'm definitely not giving up on Brandon Marsh I think he's a talented player who just needs more at bats against lefties and I know people didn't get to see the best part of Austin Hayes but he is no slouch either he just got hurt immediately after signing I think we can run it back with the exact same crew and have different results if we just play better at the end of the year... although I do expect Dombrowski to add many pieces in the bullpen and revamp the bullpen and probably sign a left fielder slash center fielder an outfielder.. Alec Bohm is still the heart of your offense and played a great Third Base last year I'm not moving him stott or Marsh.. Bryson and Brandon's game is still growing their only two or three years into their MLB career... sky is the limit and I expect them to have better years next year so I wouldn't go too crazy ripping this team apart I think they have the pieces.. I'd say add a bullpen and one or two players and you're good starting pitching we are set especially with guys like Andrew painter Mick Abel Seth Johnson and others set to come up and grateful pain arms like Griffin McGarry who also could be a starter or Bullpen go either way McGary is actually on a heater right now a lot of the struggles he had seemed to be gone he's crushing it right now... but even if the young guys aren't ready yet you don't need a starting pitcher because Seth Johnson Tyler Phillips a lot of these guys are close Bullpen and maybe an outfielder or two that's about the only moves you'll see
This over rated president. GM. Needs to go. Team is going backwards. Needs left fielder. Center fielder. Starter. At least 3 good bullpen arms a back up catcher. Trout is always hurt. Pass
The Phillies need to sign more Latinos stars, they only sign again aging veterans or back up that are Latinos , they need to sign all star prime Latinos , they don’t invest in Dominicans or Puerto Ricans. They run the league. , Phillies issue since forever coming from Latino Phillies fan.!!! so many Latino free agents coming up. They need to sign two or three.
No! Plz god no! Hes way past his time... Just no. Ok league minimum okay Anything above that is waste. Liability! This team has over spent on too many guys already. Esp. Turner and Walker
Trout is a 5 tool player..a true 5 tool player.. Soto can't run..play defense and his arm in rhe outfield isnt that great..its not even close..trout is the better player
That'd be great, but in reality the a's are probably way over asking for him. Do you really want to give up miller, Crawford, and Painter? Cuz that's what there asking
@@markbrandt504 Always a tough decision. If he is the piece that would win them the World Series then yes. Is he the only piece. Meh, probably not. An Soto, Rooker, Castellanos outfield would be pretty solid though. 😄
Click bait - Nobody thinks the Phillies actually want Trout anymore. The guy can't even play 25% of a season.
Trouts prime is far gone rn. Stay away from him. We don’t need ANOTHER aging contract.
How so?
@ better bullpen. Bring Hoffman back is mandatory. Add another elite reliever. One decent OF capable to hit home runs in regular basis. ie Hernandez.
If they could get the Angels to pay 80% of his salary, I'd take a flier on Trout. I'd like to see what he's still capable of if he could stay healthy for the full season.

As much as id love to have Trout with us...
They should go all in on Kyle Tucker instead.
I think one of the main issues with Trout is that he carries way to much weight for a baseball player.. He is listed at 240, but looks like he is really 250ish...

Trout can't stay healthy as a Phillies fan i don't want him
Harper can't either and didn't want him either
@@carolbuscher3862um that was a surgery and that was 1 year that wasn’t 3 years in a row like Tout so…. Um your just a hater
No no no no please no
Love the guy, please no, no, no.
There are arguments against Trout, no doubt, but let's not throw Trout into the Bobby Abreu category please?! 😂
Trout is one of my favorite players of all time!!! Legend. I agree 💯. If he could stay healthy, which I don't think he could, I would be praying for this. But I think Santander, if u can get him? No way he’s too injury prone & this coming from a die hard Phillies fan.
This should be a last resort, or preferably a no resort. Trout has acknowledged his injury history and last I heard, he and the Angles are moving him to DH. And we do need another mid 30 y/o player on a long term deal.

So the plan is to not sign Schwarber who plays almost every game and hits HR s and RBIs for a guy that can’t get on the field?
Absolutely not. I don't think Trout will ever play a full season of baseball again. Angels would have to eat half his remaining contract. Trout hasn't appeared in 140 games since 2018. That's six years ago.
Trout is NOT the answer, just ask the Angels.
Trout off the bench with the Angels eating most of the contract? Suuuuuuuure. Anything else would be a fool's doing.....
Sillies !
Back injuries linger around for the rest of your life. It would be awesome if he could stay healthy. I have no doubt he would do great in Philly, it's just the injuries... watch him have a great season with the angels if we don't grab him lol
Please NO Trout he's told old like Harper just doesn't have it anymore

I've always liked Mike Trout, but he's too old and busted up to take the chance at this point.
Or go after the younger healthier Soto… god they’re turning the Phillies into a retirement home
I use to love Trout man but we are sooooo good on him sorry.
Already got two always injured athletes in town . Let's not add another.

I remember the days when Trout was healthy, they would say that Trout was Mickey Mantle without the injuries.
About 5 years too late !
Dombrowski buries every team in debt.
Old, hurt, expensive, past his prime. What could possibly go wrong?

Sorry but I love this guy, but he's not anything close to what he was. He was one of the greatest players ever. But it's all in the past.
Give them back marsh, and take on a decent chunk of trouts salary. Dont give up aiden, miller, painter. Id be all for it then
