This is a bit of a weird trade, but I wouldn't mind Sal Frelick. He hits for contact, he doesn't strike out too much, he is fast, and he is a good fielder. He also isn't someone who you could be afraid to move on from if Crawford get called up.
JT, Casty, Schwarbs are in that aging category, and Im not sure how much KLo really plays into this. I think after 2022, the Phils take the other teams' greatest shot.
I’m only 6:38 through the video and I have disagreed with about everything you have said. How do you know this is Kevin longs doing? What’s the proof that he is telling these guys to hit a homer every time. There is absolutely no proof. On top of that saying you would rather have Estevez over Hoffman is crazy and saying Estevez was put in bad positions in the playoffs is wrong it’s literally the other way around. Hoffman was left in when struggling in his second inning of relief in Game 4 which led to Lindor homer is Thomson got him out sooner that may have never happened.
I agree!Everytime Bryce Harper strikes out , he makes about 40,000 dollars. Maybe they should have him visualize the ball as 100 dollar bills so he sees it better.
On Alec Bohm.......he has never performed well in the playoffs. He's also another hitter who isn't the most patient at the plate. I'm not advocating for either side of the Bohm argument, but I think those factors deserved more acknowledgement here. On Rooker......he appears to be a DH primarily. Not sure him and Schwarber on the same roster works. Really good video overall though.
What about Turnbull for the 5th man he was really good in games where he started then we decide to throw him in the bullpen and got absolutely shelled I think if he comes back next year he will definitely get it and after walker not being on the 40 man for the playoffs will come with so drama
The Phillies offense can’t hit any other pitches than fastballs, teams immediately figured this out and they got the least amount of fastballs thrown to them in the second half. This is why they lost so much in the second half. This is why, if we don’t land Juan Soto, I’m very disappointed with us bringing Kevin Long back. Also, the Phillies minor league system for hitters is still bad, every great team has that spark from their minor league system at some point in the season, the Phillies had basically no contribution from their minor league system in 2024, and that is cause for concern moving forward. They need to be really careful with Miller and Crawford and not ruin their approaches like they did for Stott.
Hilariously shit take that the phillies should've done better. They were literally a .500 team for the last 2/3 of the year. They were incredibly mediocre
I wouldn’t blame Kevin Long for Turner at all. He might just be an aging player who isn’t as good as he used to be. Same with JT. He’s a 33 year old catcher who was overused the last few years. That was gonna eventually catch up to him. Schwarber has had some of the best seasons of his career as a Phillie. Castellanos was never a serious MVP candidate, let alone a perennial MVP candidate. He was always a streaky hitter and got paid after a career year. Maybe you could give him some blame for Stott’s lack of development but I’m not blaming him for the veteran players not performing. They’re established guys making a lot of money who do things a certain way, and a hitting coach isn’t making much of a difference there. The bigger issue with the team is roster construction.
@@StickyChrisDON’T SAY THAT! The Phillies WILL make some moves. My feeling is that the Phillies are going to make either a big trade or a couple of trades to shake up the core. I don’t know what will be but the Phillies WILL and I repeat WILL do something this offseason.
@@itsstillej Philadelphia teams are always managed in this manner. When they sign big free agents or draft players to be the face of the franchise, they end up just catering to them because they're really just investments they want to keep happy. If you look at the situation with the Sixers, Embiid and Simmons were never developed properly because management just wants to keep them happy by letting them do whatever they want and hope their talent is what takes them over the top. So you get rid of any strong personalities in that locker room that are going to challenge the team like Jimmy Butler. Sure they cycle people in like Glenn Rivers, James Harden which was a disaster and just to con fans and Morey. In the end you end up with mentally soft athletes come playoff time. With the Phillies while I believe Middleton does want to win, Harper is the crown jewel of that team so naturally Harper's going to have a lot of input on personnel. He constantly panders to the fan base and publicly displays who he wants to the team to sign which are his buddies. And it worked for a couple seasons, but in the end once again, since the culture is everyone has to be Harper's buddy, the whole team ended up being complacent with no urgency. Harper wouldn't even go back to the outfield and decided he'll play first base. Trea Turner is not a SS but on Harper's team of buddies, you can play anywhere. Even further if you look at the Eagles, their whole philosophy is based on analytics. Really all these teams use analytics. Why? Because hiring computer nerds to read charts and computers is cheaper than hiring actual people who know what they're doing. So once again, no one is hired to challenge this philosophy It's why Doug Peterson was let go because he wanted his own coaches. Instead they hired yes man Nick Sirianni who speaks in riddles every press conference. Phila fans are held hostage year after year, for decades really by shitty ownership who is more concerned about making a dollar than actually creating sustained winning. They can't draft, develop or scout actual talent. And if they do, they will screw it up.
The Bohm hate is hysterical, he’s cheap and under control. He went to the All Star Game. $$$ The Kevin Long diatribe has no basis in fact. Why do you hate platooning? Every team left in the playoffs does it. Rooker is a K machine, Profar is the guy, decent pop, low chase rate, walks alot, he’s your lead off guy.
Does this guy not know Kyle schwarber hit 250 this year.. nobody's being told to swing for the fences and the Phillies had more All-Stars this year than any other team in baseball they just weren't playing well at the end and that happens
Changing just to change? Why? They have a very good team. It appears the Met’s mojo is evaporating. Why? One can only give the Dodgers credit. Over 162 game schedule anything is possible to happen. Tge manager has to play the role of psychologist and baby sitter in a effort to keep a team from going flat. Like a game of chess.
Sounds like dumbroski not lookin to make changes, but they have to. In calculating whether to keep Bohm, you forgot to plug in that he is Not a good fielding 3rd baseman. I agree you need consistent hitters, but if you can get value for Bohm off a faux all star season you better do it.
They are fine you have to play your best ball at the right time they could add zero pieces and win the World Series next year Dave Dombrowski did that exact thing in Boston did not change anything and won the World Series the next year also Bryce Harper performed well alongside Nick Castellanos Bryce has never not performed in his whole life
The reason the team lost was they needed to be humbled. The PHILLIES and their fans are too uppity and the METS humbled them.THE GOOD LORD SURE WORKS IN MISTERIOUS WAYS.
I would have Rojas # 1, Stott #2, Turner #3, Harper #4. Schwarber #5, Realmuto #6, Bohm #7, Marsh #8. Need to move on from Castellanos. Harper needs protection at 4. Like Werth did for Howard. Turner can be the Utley at #3. Need speed at the top of the order. Yes, this is Harper's team. He is not in the Justice or Ohtani. Why can't Turner give us 20/20. Speed kills.
We need more production from LF and CF.
You are one of the best. Thank you for your insights
Thank you so much for your support!!

Also Alec bohm is the reason why I hate our players going to the homerun derby we are just never good after the homerun derby it messes up your swing

Get a few low k rate hitters. Put the ball in play
What about Turnbull for the 5th man he was really good in games where he started then we decide to throw him in the bullpen and got absolutely shelled I think if he comes back next year he will definitely get it and after walker not being on the 40 man for the playoffs will come with so drama
I saw him pitch for the iron pigs right before the play offs, he did fine idk why they didn’t call him back up.

I think schwarber has an exception i really like how hes used
I’d love to see them get Tyler Oniel in of
Phillies aren’t going to make changes in 2025 and we won’t sign Juan soto
I have a feeling nothing will be done

problem with turner at cf is that’s he got paid the big bucks to be our franchise SS, idk if that is the best idea for him
I don’t care he can’t field his position so get someone who can and put him in center
Trade the day care
revamp the bullpen
this team needs grit
I also think your analysis on estevez is bad he utilizes mainly groundballs and technically did worse with the phillies a good defense saved him
Management needs to stop doing whatever Harper wants to do.

I don't think any major changes need to be made. They just need to perform when it counts.
so major changes bc back to back to back years they failed granted one of those years we shouldn't have made it that far
But they don’t perform. This team can’t perform together to finish the playoffs. Changes HAVE to be made
