remember, with this “stay home” stuff, it’s healthy to get some fresh air once in a while, just DONT go near or interact with people while your at it. sucks for the states that have stay at home orders but if you don’t, go outside, take a stroll or go skateboarding maybe once a week, it’s good for the soul.
I mean, have interaction with people also is good for the soul, you can have interactions with them while keeping your distances.

Why were the streets empty?
The streets were not empty. That‘s the art part of the filmmaker. He edited all the cars out. Meaning he took a second of an empty part of the image, froze it and then did it with all the other parts of the shot. Pretty much work but it looks very real. It‘s called compositing.
