Desolator is like a salary man. 1 against 5000 without getting any promotion or raise.
IIRC they need to be undeployed to gain rank, hich is bs since all other deployable units get rank when deployed.
it's a game programming limitiation. If you think about it, the desolator directly killed no conscripts here. The desolator irratiated the ground. Then the ground killed the conscripts. The ground would get promoted if it were a unit.
@@exeggcutertimur6091 would be fairly easy to link the two together, most likely a balance thing
Sad truth
mean wage slave
One time, I was watching my brother play as Iraq in this game. He was training a huge army of conscripts with a couple of desolators. We were relatively new to the game and didn't know the desolators could make radiation like this. With his desolator right in the middle of a legion of conscripts, I said, "I wonder what happens if you deploy the desolator."
He was so mad at me lol.
evil
U bad brother
Wtf is iraq?
Ain't no CnC faction called iraq
@@mr_h831 Iraq is pro soviet in red alert 2
@@mr_h831 Bruh. RA2 has subfactions for the Allies and Soviets. Iraq is a subfaction on the Soviet side and Desolators are their unique unit.
How do you not know this?
It's intriguing how the pathing of the conscripts resulted in formation of 4 triangle shapes at the corners.
map is made of diamonds shapes, and thats the shortest way to cross in the end
IllumiNODi confirmed
Conscript soldiers: we have you surrounded 5000 to 1
Desolator: all I am surrounded by is fear and dead men

Real line: All I'm surrounded by, is green goop!
The new Vader
Desolator: Then it's an even fight...I will melt your mongrel hide...
All i am surrounded by is molten gummy bears
Being surrounded just means you can shoot in any direction
Conscripts: we have you outnumbered.
Desolator: that may be true. But you are clearly outmatched!

I’m actually surprised there were a few conscripts able to get a few shots off. I thought they would have all died before that!
might have taken anti-rad pills 🤣😂
It’s called Rad-X comrade!
They closed the distance when the desolator's radiation was at a low point, right before he renewed the radiated area.
@@KaosNova2 Fall Out series
Those are the smart ones.
I’m really curious about the AI pathing when I see this. And also weird how in that mode the desolator doesn’t receive a promotion.
The Desolator as a unit doesn't get credited with XP for the damage/kills done by his radiation circle. He only gets XP when he shoots enemies with his gun. The damage functions (at the programming level) between the two are different.
Mine get peomotes
from what i understand about the pathfinding, although i could be wrong, there is a hard limit to how many things can pathfind at once. as well, Infantry are allowed to be 3 in a tile, so if there are more than 3 in a tile an infantry cannot path through that tile anymore. vehicles have a limit of 1 per tile, instead.
Cause the game treats it as environmental kills, not unit kills

Now, if you had just used 5001 conscript.
Conscript 5001: hell no ain't not gonna die for mother russia....
There were no conscripts harmed during the making of this video!

They walked into the deadly radiation of their own volition.
Even looks like a radiation sign at the end lol 1:12
I think the conscripts are green with envy.. and other stuff
That's what i always loved about this game, the infinite advantage that 1 unit can have over the other. And it applies for all units, all are unique in that sense.
A pair Desolators inside a battle fortress is pure destruction!
Pure desolation
This was like watching the scrapes of food and stuff going into the drain that's close to the kitchen faucet.
Wow, that was one of the most nervewracking fights so far! Really fun to watch.
Honestly surprised some of the conscripts had managed to land a shot.
After the great carnage the ravager took off his helmet revealing that all this time it was John Wick himself.
It's nice for the Conscript to wait in line for their turn at the end part
I fucking knew it. The Umbrella Corp. is behind all these Soviet shenanigans.

Hats off to the conscripts who managed to get any shots off.
Shame those guys with guns didn’t realize guns can kill at a distance lol
i often used them for perimeter defense for this reason. it's not fool proof but sure to slow some movement down.
I really like how the guys at the four corners just decided it was smarter to not do what the guys in the cardinals were doing
Hands down the most OP infantry unit in the game
What about the sniper?
@@Azachor Snipers are good, but they are only good against infantry, whereas Desolators are also good against light armor vehicles. Also you need multiple snipers to stop a horde of infantry, whereas a single deployed deso is enough.
@@atifarshad7624 I can't remember the circumstances but I had a Desolator within shooting range of an enemy barracks, and they never managed to get a single unit out, haha.

They must be trying to create a Fullmetal Alchemist Philosopher's stone with that overly massive suicide ritual.

Ok, I'll just take a load off right where I am. (clunk) Haaaaa, I needed a breather.
Looks like a tie fighter flying at the screen for a bit there.
This is so f*ckig satisfying to watch.
Most satisfying move, ever
In RA2 there was an option for deployed desolators to force attack the ground / close ennemies, and the rate at which they irradiated the ground was insane! That was truly OP. (Sadly) it was removed from YR
That was the 1st version of RA2, RA2 remastered removed that also
@@lourencegonzales8977 oh. Sadly 😪
Did you do something to prevent the desolator from gaining veterancy, or can they not be promoted by using their AOE?
They can't be promoted when they are using their AOE.
No. You need to manually kill several of them with his standard attack before he goes Elite.
they dont gain veterancy using aoe
@@JoeJoe-sv5rk I never knew that, thanks :)
@@GreenElf The heck is AOE? Area of effect?
i know nobody asked but in red alert 3 and the expansion if you make a desolator force fire one light vehicle of your choice and ram it against an enemy the chemicals will insta kill infantry and damage the vehicles enough for the desolator to finish the job and if you have multiple cheap vehicles damaged instead of repairing them to full health you can do mutual destruction tactics by corrupting them and becoming toxic landmines
Makes me curious as to how the aoe damage is calculated as it clearly slows down when the biggest mass was walking in thus allowing a few conscripts to get in range to fire but as it became corners only they died so much faster.
Some sort of limitation in the game coding Im assuming, with the sheer number of damage calculations from a single source overloading it.
Also, seems like concentration of the green wave itself varies a bit like a rhythm.
The aoe of the desolator shrinks over time and he "pumps" it every so often to return the aoe to the original radius. The damage within the aoe is linearly increased near the center, its just a matter of the shrinking and repumping that causes the "wave" effect.

I remember playing some time where you can CTRL+Attack the ground with a deployed desolator so that they will radiate it much more stronger. What RA2 version was that?

I believe this much radiation is what they would call "Not great but not terrible either" in Soviet Union.
The conscripts commander must be Vladolf Putler 😂
Area denial system for foot soldiers for sure.
If you could maneuver desolators they are very effective against tanks especially the Allied tanks. Just remember to build some flak cannons next to them for anti-air.
