In this segment of the US History EOC Review series, Tom Richey continues his overview of the Reconstruction era, focusing on resistance to Reconstruction policies in the South, carpetbaggers and scalawags, and the end of Reconstruction following the disputed 1876 election and the Compromise of 1877. The establishment of "Redeemer" governments in the South following Reconstruction began the era of Jim Crow, which is introduced in this segment and will be discussed further in the next segment.
This lecture addresses USHC 3.4 in the South Carolina curriculum standards for US History and the Constitution.
