Thanks Guy for this stuff it's real help to me during theses difficult times.....I have been aware of you and your great talent since the Floyd tour in 1994.....
Love the waffle, welcome back. I laughed at the Randell & Hopkirk( Deaceased ) story. I had to wear a white suit and white shoes to my sisters wedding back in 70s, after that I was Marty Hopkirk for years!! Was a big fan really so hats off to Mike . Thanks for the fun story telling . Keep on keeping on 😎
I met Kirsty years ago. She was wonderful. Very funny and very down to earth. We spent 20 minutes talking about her dad as I was just getting into song writing. RIP Kirsty.
Sat watching this in the car while waiting for the Mrs to finish her drum lesson... Smack in the middle of Days a bloody huge (red) Kite flew over the car, playing in the strong wind. Probably not a sign, but it made me smile... Bless her! Top video again Fella, cheers!
"a completely self-serving, lying, corrupt and incompetent bunch of bastards for a government... but!" This isn't waffle, but it's sooo true. Thank you - thought there was a touch of Jonathan Pie here and at the end ("wear a fucking mask!") What a duet that would be!
Ahh man, is that a Guy Pratt ‘white’ ABM head on your desk? I missed the one that was part of the Ashdown downsize B sale...gutted but hey ho. Sounds awesome as ABMs do. Great vid👍 Thanks
Welcome back Guy,glad you and your family enjoyed the break.I Share your thoughts and frustration with the UK government. Me and my wife have been fans of Kirsty M,since the Stiff days. The tragic circumstances surrounding her death demand justice. Such a enormous loss to her family and friends. Love the recollections, hopefully it helps people to understand the life of a musician. Sad to hear you have not felt well this summer, I wish you well.
Hey Guy! Lee Sklar mentions he'll be doing an interview and Q&A with you tomorrow. I just love this cat. Such a cool dude... So humble and genuine. Will the interview/Q&A be available?
Your waffling as you say enables us guys to learn snippets of info and insights that we would never otherwise no who don’t have the ability or privilege to move with your colleagues. Cheers guy think we all appreciate that
It is wonderful to have these videos to look forward to in times like this. You're a funny man, great story teller and awesome bass player. Thanks Guy!!
Guy, just watching Season 3 of the French and Saunders show.... fantastic to watch Kirsty's performances. It was 'Don't Come the Cowboy' which got me in to Kite. And she was such a beautiful lady.
Don't mind the playing but I come for the waffle;) Any chance of you talking about working with Robert Palmer? The Don't explain album was what compelled my dad to get a CD player for the house and we used to listen to it all the time. Just found out the other day you co-wrote and played on it. Cheers
Carl Greder all the stories are in Guy’s great book “My bass and other animals”. Its a great read and Guy actually reads the audiobook! Stories & wet yourself anecdotes galore.
I just spent the last hour watching an episode of Randel and Hopkirk deceased on telly for the first time in 35 years, and was thinking how lucky you are to have such a lovely way to be connected with your dad, Then ‘ping’ - up you pop on my feed. Thanks for all you do, you too are creating a beautiful legacy.
I love the chat more than the music!! Shock! Love the way you constantly unlock countless memories and the stories of encounters with / working with the greats. More chit chat if you don't mind. Oh alright, a bit bassery too!
Played along the first time through. Thanks so much for the sucker punch of bittersweet, its only wednesday! Best video yet....."During an interview on Channel 4 with Krishnan Guru-Murthy, Sir Ray took a phone call from drummer Mick Avory and told him: ‘I’ll see you in the pub later.’"
Tks Guy, I love your videos!!! Please show us more PULSE lines and the creating lines process, rehearsals.... Take care from Brazil! What do you want from me the next one.... Wooohoooo
Any reason to celebrate Kirsty MacColl is enough to forgive the abomination that is a 5-string bass. What a wonderful singer (some wise person said she was an incredible lead vocalist, and a fabulous group of backup singers, all in one person) and, by gum, a beautiful woman. Lovely to hear your memories of her, although I appreciate it must be bittersweet for you, Guy. Kite is a belter of an album. And Days has one of my favourite drum moments everywhere, when after a chorus-verse-bridge there's the sound of the mighty Mel Gaynor chopping down a tree with his snare drum. Simple fill, executed perfectly. I was also gonna say "And I love your bass playing on Innocence! Please do a vid on that one!" but then I scuttled off to check the personnel, and it turned out to be Mr Palladino. Ho hum. That lanky bugger gets everywhere. Your waffle comes with the maple syrup of positive vibes. Keep 'em coming.

The so called 'waffle' is endearing and what sets it aside from other intense UA-cam videos. You are a great storyteller (oops back to the Ronnie Corbett chair) and it should always be encouraged, these great stories will never be known unless you tell them. Small point - no one ever complains when Billy Connelly goes off on a tangent or waffles so why would people complain about you!
Love the stories... and yes, the bass playing too. I've heard of kiting checks before, but never heard of a check being called a kite. (Yeah, the stories really add an extra dimension.)
Currently reading your book on my kindle and taking my time to enjoy it. They say never meet your idols, but meeting you through UA-cam and the book, I have to keep reminding myself what a profile you have in the industry, because you come across as so easy going and not as inaccessible as I would expect someone of your stature. Thanks for your down to earth greatness.
@@guypratt7104 I met you at one of your comedy gigs in Leicester. You definitely were an idol worth meeting. I just remember being so embarrassed when my mate asked you the shittest question.... "Who's your favorite bass player?"... what a waste of a question opportunity!
Great to have you and the waffle back, Guy. At the risk of getting a kick up the butt, can I just say I wish your bass was a bit louder in these clips.
Glad you're back, enjoyed the stories and the 'waffle'. Yep walking down madison was definitely of a time - just watched the TOTP performance, why you're doing the 'chicken tonight' dance during the rap break is anyone's guess 🤣
Happy to see you back. Glad you had a good chill out time and recharging of the batteries. yeah it does feel like a ride through the nine circles of hell but you definitely put a smile on faces.
Worth waiting for! Guy, you famously referenced naturalist Gerald Durrell in your brilliant book. Is it true the sequel will include a nod to Desmond Morris?
Loving the waffle, the story about Peggy’s Bass, the playing of your Betzoid on the Kirsty MacColl number. I now want all my basses resprayed in Burgundy Mist. 😎
Another great video, some wonderful memories regarding who you know and what tracks you have played on. Memories of my own as I sold your music when I worked in a record shop (bought it as well). Sorry to here you’ve been a little down. Different times. Don’t forget the lower you go the further it is to climb back. Take very great care Guy. Carry on waffling. Brilliant stuff.
Great to have you back during these strange times. I’m also definitely here for the waffle! I can’t believe you played on Well Did You Evah, that’s my favourite track on Red Hot + Blue. I picked up a copy on vinyl this week but haven’t got round to playing it & reading the sleeve notes
Great stuff. Glad I happened along to your channel. Love the playing and the waffle. Back in the day, when I was living in Massachusetts in the U.S., "to kite a check" meant cashing it at a supermarket or other store, knowing it would take two or three days to clear from your bank account. So a mini-loan until funds become available. This was in the 1970's - I may have used this technique to buy just-announced tickets for Dylan's Rolling Thunder Review. (Almost an instant sellout and twas a day or two before payday and I was skint.) Can't do it now - damned interwebs.
Nice one -the vid. I didn’t know you played bass on Days. Liked it a lot though I have to say I preferred the kinks and their mellotron. I used to play bar billiards with some chap in a pub in Crouch End about end of 70’s. Turned out it was a Ray Davies. See, I can waffle as well! 😀🙏🙏
Great to have you back! Missed the waffle (and the tunes). I used the downtime to read your book, which I thoroughly enjoyed. All the best from Canada!🇨🇦
Good work Guy glad you had a Nice break . Glad your back and looking forward to seeing you and Nick etc etc next year in Ipswich . Bloody Covid a Year later All the best 👍👍👍
You really, really, really need to write another book! Great stories. I’d buy a Betsoid but I just bought a Bass Centre Bruce Thomas Profile Bass. Maybe I’ll treat myself at Christmas.
Great to see you back, been missing your vids. Love the stories, especially the one about Dave Pegg. Good to see in the comments that you're writing another book, brilliant!!!
Loving the waffletastic. I, like many, many others love Kirsty's stuff and Days was just one of "those" records. I'm old enough to have been around when the original came out but when this cover was released then I was able to appreciate it all the more. Great to see you back.. The mask wearing public service announcement was much appreciated from someone who is living in a quite happy, mask wearing, Southern Spain. See you next time.
The waffle is back! I've never tried a Dingwall, but Lee Sklar has been using them a lot in his lockdown diaries, I wonder whether you ever had an encounter with those?
Guy, I have just stumbled across these vlogs and, as a lapsed player and longtime fan, I've SO enjoyed them! Thank you for sharing your insights. If you're still taking requests, I'd love to see Peter Cetera's "You Never Listen To Me" which has one of my favourite bass lines ever. Love from New Zealand xxx
Came for the playing, stayed for the waffles.
Hi Guy. I love your waffling! Your stories are amazing, please keep them going. Kirsty and Steve are legends.
Love all these anecdotes and stories about other musicians. Keep 'em coming!

What a family 👍
Thanks Guy. Never tire of hearing stories about Kirsty's songs.
Brilliant as ever and such fab Kirsty recollections to boot. Thanks!
Good to have you back Guy, computer sorted, waffle thankfully intact, stay healthy. 👍👍

Kirsty MaColl - what a great loss. Was so lucky to have seen her at the Double Door in Chicago. Mesmerizing. Amazing show. Thanks for this!

I enjoy all the fun background stories. 👍 It's fun to hear how one thing leads to another. Keep safe!
Enjoyed that, really interesting. Loved these two songs and Kirsty.
Excellent stuff, love the melodic playing on days, and if the waffle takes us onto the half an hour realms..... Then so be it, love the waffle.
@Guy - would LOVE to see the licks on Icehouse's Spanish Gold, where you're obviously having a lovely time. Thanks in advance!

Kirsty is so missed. What a great delight as always. Waffle on!
True words and yes what a legend Kirsty was! You must be so proud to have played on this wonderful song
thanks - cheered up a dismal afternoon in not-so-sunny Worthing...keep waffling

Lee Sklar gave you a shout-out today so I dropped by to see. Who knew the bassist for PF was also such a card? Good hang.
Thanks Guy and welcome back.
Love the waffle.
Short memory - I'd forgotten how much I loved the purity of Kirsty's voice so ta for this episode
