Hi just seen your video on making a large oval bonsai pot that looks fantastic what clay do you use and Do you need to put it in a kiln I would love to make one but don’t have a kiln Kind regards David from England
@davidhughes4020 hi David, in my video description you can read what clay I used, it's cone 6 stoneware, it does need to be fired. If you don't have a kiln you can look for a place to fire it for you, local community club or private places. Look up kiln space for rent, there's a website that shows local places, good luck!
Wonderful work. I have one doubt: can we use a terracotta pot for planting without firing? I made one by myself but don't have access to a kiln. Can I use it for planting if I prime the air-dried terracotta pot with GESSO and paint some acrylic on it?
@HarusaiBonsai good question: what kind of clay did you use? If the clay is meant for firing- stoneware or earthenware, then I don't think it would hold itself even with acrylic paint because the water will seep into it and simply soften it back again. But if you used some sort of air dry clay, than I'm not sure, as I never worked with them, but perhaps you have some chance? If you'd like to fire it, search for local workshops, pottery stores, community groups and see if anyone can fire it for you. I believe there's a website where you can search for kilns to rent: kilnshare or something like that
@@gaeangardensbyizabela Thank you so much for reading my query and clearing my doubts. I used earthenware clay. This means I must fire it. I will search for a kiln in my locality. Once again, thank you.
@HarusaiBonsai you're very welcome, hope you find it and let me know how it goes. It's well worth firing it and having a great pot since you have made it yourself
Hello, thank you for your question. I included some information about my vidoe titled Firing 16 cubic feet kiln, free to check it out. I haven't done any glazing tutorials yet, apart from one video about different glazing techniques
Hello, and thank you for your question. This is black clay. Please see the description - i have the details and a link there. Blue clay would be quite cool!
