Please tell me I'm not the only one who have memorized Aurebesh?
I'm currently working on it.
Saphiria TheBlueDragonKnight Keep up the good work!
The Ravenclaw Girl Thanks!
The Ravenclaw Girl am still learning it
I memorized it too. Lol
The Aurebesh language was also used in the Naboo N-1 Starfighter in The Phantom Menace.
*script, its not a language

I want my medal now.
So does Chewie.

Did you know that if the universe is infinite, at least somewhere in one area in infinite space, the Star Wars timeline is a reality...
The Chiptuner nope, thats not how infinity works
capfogful yes it is, infinite universe means infinite possibilities.
Knightguard1 No, the infinite universes theory, if you are talking about the real one, sais that with everything that has a potential to change, will change in an alternate dimension. Saying that infinity includes everything is not true. Infinity could include every possible version of our world within the boundaries of the laws of nature. It is still infity with endless options, but in none of those you could go faster than light, or have gravity on your ship.
deh neh neh neh
I know
This is kind of like the word "alphabet", where it is basically two words representing the first two Greek letters: "Alpha" (A), and "Beta" (B).
I imagine that was 100% the intention. Cool detail, though.
Me: learning a fake language instead of learning a real one
My mom: what are you doing?
Me: ah uhhhhhh learning
Not a fake language, a fake alphabet
I hope this will count as my foreign language requirement
its a script not a language
"Grand Admiral Thrawn appears at 1:55". Yes, I read that without a translator
+DallinPlays Good job :)
so did I
I read Aurebesh too
Great video! It's so refreshing to see a video on UA-cam where someone is not stumbling through not knowing what they're going to say next.
This video provided just what I was looking for.
Thank you!
(And I subscribed, too!)
9 years ago wow! Such a high quality video for so long ago
This video is actually really interesting. I used to have the
book about Hyrule Historia and the Hyrulian alphabet, and
I like to draw the symbols that represents each given letter of the
alphabet.
Do a video about only astromech droids
John Leskovich Not a bad idea! Thanks. :D
Aurebesh recently made an appearance in Star Wars Rebels. It appears several times throughout the town in the first part where we are introduced to all the main characters, most noticeably on the wall with the picture of the TIE fighters which is an advertisement to become a pilot.
I didn’t realize this was released 8 years ago 😮
The amount of work you put into your videos you deserver more views :)
Please make more of these, they are great Star Wars learning resources, my suggestions: Make an episode about the Yuuzhan Vong as It would we interesting to teach people who are unaware of them about a very interesting story.
This was great! Thank you!
*Pokemon creators listen to the names of the letters*
Hey, time for a new pokemon game!
U need more sub i already sub but Man U rock May the force be with you.
That is funny, some of the symbols that are used are related to other languages around the world like...
dorn is ㅋ (kiyeot) in Korean.
Esk VT (kind of)
Herf is 三 (sam) in Chinese pinyin meaning the number 3 WHICH is also the number 3 in korean Sino 삼.
Isk, 1111111.
Mern is like ㄷ(digeot) in Korean.
Resh 7777.
Trill ↓↓↓↓↓.
Vev Y.
Wesk is like ㅁ(mieum) in Korean. (Notice that someone is studying Korean here yet? Hm? XD)
Sesh △.
Enth is like the Russian letter Э(yeh/eh).
Onith looked kind of like 스 (seu) in Korean.
Nen is like 刀 (Dāo) in Chinese.
Thesh could be like 巨l (Jù (Chinese) with an English lowercase L at the side)
Keep in mind I'm just thinking of how they made those symbols or how they could look like lol.
I personally know all but two letters of Aurebesh of the top of my head, and its cool to use!
very good episode.
Thanks for helping!

Its cool Star Wars has a language.- Zarknesh Lonlimsqugzin Star Wars What's that should be brought back.
1:37 may the force be with you too Doikk Na'ts
You could say the reason the text on the screen in Return of the Jedi is random is because that is the code clearance Han Solo is transmitting. Like any code, it's just a long string of letters.
So if you want to make a letter big, you just have to make it like this as example: d -> b p -> q etc?
For me, someone who's already familiar with many real life scripts...
S reminds me of the syllable "sa" in several Indian scripts (स સ 𑀲).
R and K look like the Hebrew ר and כ which make those sounds and are related to R and K in the Roman script. Not only is the shape of ר close to R in Aurebesh, but its NAME "Resh" is identical.
B loosely resembles ⴱ in Tifinagh, a North African script.
M looks like ⵎ, again from Tifinagh.
P sorta looks like the Avestan 𐬞.
Roman Y and V share a historic link (both from the same Greek letter ypsilon/vpsilon/upsilon).
L does look like a reversed Roman L, but is closer to Middle Eastern and Turkic Ls (𐢑 ل 𐰞).
A is a little like Phoenician 𐤀, the ancestor to our modern Roman A.
D and R are similar in some Middle Eastern scripts as well (Phoenician 𐤃 𐤓, Parthian 𐭃 𐭓, Palmyrene 𐡣 𐡴, Nabataean 𐢅 𐢛, Arabic د ر, Hebrew ד ר, Hatran 𐣣 𐣣, Aramaic 𐡃 𐡓, Manichaean 𐫅 𐫡).
Where did you find the information in where that cresh is a key signature?
Friend: what are you speaking?
Me: uhhhh common sith language
My friends and I write in aurebuesh
Oh, my God, you ALL forget the double letters -_-
Everything ater zerek.
they arent Canon
Grand Admiral Thrawn appears at 1:55 - Secret message terminated -
"grand admiral thrawn appears at 1:55 - secret message terminated" (which he does)
Is there a sing-along version for aurebesh?
Hey star geek My favorite droid is R3-S6 he is A separatist spy droid.
LOL, at 0:36, the Aurek (A) is backwards.
"Grand Admiral Thrawn appears at 1:55
- secret message terminated -"
And yes he does. One of my favorite villains ever! Good work on the video. I've been trying to find a downloadable Aurebesh font that is a little more detailed than Pixel Saga's font on Dafont.com but I haven't found any yet. Have you ever found any that are better?
Yes, I do have a font! I don't exactly remember where I got it from though... I just look around on Safari (any browser works), find a site, then check to make sure that is, A) Legal. B) Safe. and C) High Quality. That's how I found the one I used in the video. Good Luck! (And thanks for the feedback :D). And yes, Thrawn is amazing!!!
Distinct completely alien
When creating words, do you combine the sounds like you do in English? For example: Say I am trying to say the word Jedi. Would that be Jedorisk? Or would it be Jenth-esk-dorn-isk?
In english you don't pronounce Jedi as "Jay ee dee aye" so you wouldn't pronounce words by spelling them out letter by letter in aurebesh
Tree& Robot stencils
"Grand admiral thrawn appears at 1:55 secret message terminated-"
Also the letter usk looks a lot like the Hebrew letter teth (ט).
"Zerek" "Cherek" is sounds like polish :D
OMG 😱
"Rock o tan"
Can you do more star wars what's that ? Video?
legofan2001 I can definitely start it up again! I made this episode as a test, and it didn't do very well, so I canned the series, but I can always start it up again! What would you like to see covered?
The ewok movies
I’m learning aurebesh
My backpack says REBEL in Aurebesh
Guys can i get my name in aurebesh as a tatoo or should I be lookin for phrase?
How do you read this? If you read each letter by it's sound you're just spelling the word. Aren't they combined sounds and whatnot like in English? Because if they weren't we would be reading it all instead of bread like b-r-e-a-d, I think that's too a little flaw in the Aurebesh
+DubstepEmmy You read it in English, known in the Star Wars universe as Basic. The names of the letters are just names, they're unrelated to the pronunciation.
+StarGeek ohhh thank you :) i got it
This Was Amazing! Thank You!
I don't get why the AUREK and FORN are written differently than their standard form. They're written "backward"
Victor Souza It's meant to represent capital letters.
Terribly Charismatic Duck thanks 😉
Weird coincidence that the Aurebesh language has the same amount of letters as English... ;)
Also, why didn't they make Aurebesh numbers?
There are numbers too, remember the clone fives? He has a five number tatoo in aurebesh and on the landing plataforms
There are eight more Aurebesh letters than in the English alphabet, representing sounds like sh and ch etc. I take your point though, it's pretty lazy as conlang design goes, just transposing English and Aurebesh rather than devising something new. If you pause at 4:03 you can see them all, plus punctuation.
What's the point of Krenth? How is Kh different from K?
World's tallest building :
Burj Khalifa.
There will be a test at the end of this video..
canon?
THAÑK YOU!! But can you do a tutorial on how to Speak aurebesh?? Or is it not learnable e.g Dino - Dornisknernosk Plz helpp
From what I can gather, there isn't a way to speak aurebesh...... If I'm wrong I'm sorry lol
+Dinogirll I think aurabesh is just a written language. The most common spoken language, I think, is Basic which is the equivalent of English.
+Saphiria TheBlueDragonKnight unfortunately that is true
you would read words like we do, but instead of sayign the alphabet A, B... youwould say Aulek, besh... hope this helps
It's kinda like Latin....no point in learning to speak it dude...it's more for writing, for stock for the movies, cartoons, games etc, also don't know how those letters would work together, sorry bro
And how we say words,
Great video but it's
'Rewkan' not 'rackatan' infinate empire
☲ ☳ ☴ ☵
South korea intensifies
I get a medal, but chewy doesn't (read or translate end)
it really bothered me that some of your words had backwards symbols
And one more thing star geek if you make an astromech video do not say thanks to me for coming up with the idea
How speaking this langage.
you dont, cause its not a language.
Than why do they call x wing and y wings the way they do? Makes no sense
The heck-I don't know. Good point. By the way a sad fact of my existence is that I can read Aurebesh without a cheatsheet. I read that stuff in the Force Awakens screen with phasma.
DungeonMaster&CompleteEpicness Shiit, well thats truly sad. I would love to see a comic some day that Tag and Bink invented an alternative alphabet, and thats why they have x wings and y wings
@ capfogful
"why do they call x wing and y wings the way they do?"
The sad truth was it predated aruebesh.
Just as TIE-fighter predated "Twin Ion Engine". They were called Tie-fighters because they looked like "bow ties" like you would wear around your neck.
When I was eight years old, it seemed perfectly reasonable. As I got older, I realized how retarded that was.
Thank goodness for fan fiction.
capfogful there's actually another alternative alphabet which only use for specific reasons known as the high galactic alphabet (which is latin in our world) this kind of alphabet are frequently use by high ranking government officials and nobles starwars.wikia.com/wiki/High_Galactic_alphabet
Well everything in Star Wars is translated to English, so they’re probably not called X-Wing and Y-Wing in the Star Wars universe.
first
So I have the Aurebesh memorized and can translate it, but I can't find out how to pronounce it. Can anyone help?
It's pronounced in the exact way as intergalactic basic (English or what ever language your watching it in)
Ok I have a question are the latter a real? Like do they mean something because I'm getting a tattoo saying I'm you're father
The Aurebesh letters are fictional symbols used to communicate throughout the whole galaxy for the Star Wars Universe Dwellers. As longs you follow the patter of 'Isk Aurek-Mern Yirt-Osk-Usk-Resh Forn-Aurek-Trill-Herf-Esk-Resh' you should be good to go :D And thanks for subscribing!
Ok, thnks u tht best
But, anyone knows how to talk it?
It's basically English (or "Galactic Standard"). No need to over-think it, pally.
That is not how you pronounce Rakata.
How da fuck you speak it tho? To say hello do you say flippin herfesklethlethosk??? Or do you crunch it and say something like hesklethosk or herfeslosk or some shit?
Hello, I am a linguistics nerd. I'm pretty sure that explains that I know a bit about linguistics. And I have to say, Aurebesh is a terrible alphabet. It's just English, with its symbols swapped for other symbols, and expanded a bit. It shouldn't be called an alphabet, at best it's a cypher, at worst it's an illiterate infant trying to write.
But at least it's not as bad as the Huttese "Language" is.
SparkySywer That may be true, but what makes that a bad alphabet? That's just like saying our alphabet is a bad one. It was only intended to be a fun way to write in Star Wars "basic".
But I do agree, Huttese, Ewokese and Bocce have practically no structure.
StarGeek It's not bad, actually. I shouldn't have called them that. What they are are the Latin Alphabet, and shouldn't be considered another alphabet.
SparkySywer Very true! Thanks for the clarification! :D
StarGeek :S you seem too overjoyed to be serious...
.~.
SparkySywer No! That's just how I respond to comments. I was being completely serious, I just try to stay positive. :D
Holy shit tone down the stars
I'd argue the Aurebesh is superior to the alphabet.
However, Aurebesh is extremely inefficient in terms of handwriting speed and space consumption, compared to Alphabet.
why learn it tho
Its good for easter eggs in the movies
This looked awesome till you started speaking
