Fully agree on economy system. I conquered Cyprus with Ramesses with the hopes that it’ll solve my bronze issue cos hey whole island is bronze mine! But in the end i could better keep on trading as the effect was very underwhelming.
Fully agree. It feels bad to play Ramesses and have all your signature units melt in 10 seconds against basic archers. Somewhat disappointing how slowly they are addressing the bugs too. Thutmose the Conqueror is bugged to the point of being unplayable. Legitimacy trading appears to be completely broken.
Light units have often different role in battle than heavy (armoured) frontlines. In multiplayer battles (especially in Troy), light units are great flankers and Speed is a key stat.
Autoresolve always favors shielded armoured frontlines and missiles behind, and always hurts chargers / chariots. And I have found why/how. If you want to bring chargers/chariots, prepare to play battles manually. I often play with just one solid frontline, lol.
Once you get Chariots, you simply have to forget autoresolve exists. Even the lowliest tier small settlement will see them destroyed. It is as if the autoresolve AI parks them in the middle of the settlement or something...
Theres one major issue i discovered yesterday with my lethality campaign. YOU can demand all the legitimacy points from each faction and it gives you so much positive points in the negotiation that i ended up also demanding they send me all their resources and 10 turns of them sending me resources without me giving them anything… it pretty much ruined my campaign and i had to delete it lol
this game just punishes you for being good at the game, the bigger you grow the worse you suffer. like I get it it's anti snow ball but instead of punishing the player how about just make the ai field more armies with better units.
@@shmekelfreckles8157 and event at the end of the game when you get too big... Huns invading Rome, factions forming big alliance to stop you, chaos hordes thunders over the horizon coming decimating mankind like in Warhammer etc
Another auto-resolve weirdness is that it doesn't seem to take weapon types into consideration: playing as Irsu my axemen will tear through any other "tank" melee infantry at their tier in a manual battle, but the auto-resolve will always give me defeat prediction after defeat prediction.

Hey bro, thanks for the video. Maybe this video confuses me because I've just started my new campaign, but I feel like you could have structured it a bit better. Anyway, good to see the genuine issues with some of the features brought to light!
Problem with God system is not in limitation (3) but in "buff stacking". Lot of okay buffs, with no negatives, and no deeper/strategical decision making for player. The "limitation" only prevents collecting all the gods/buffs in single campaign.
@@shmekelfreckles8157 well, religions have impact on people's behavior. E.g. worshiping a peaceful deity can boost your economy (via inspiring people to be hard working) but also it could give weaker units to recruit (e.g. minus Attack/Defence) because violence/aggression is frown upon. Worshiping a war god can have reverse impacts, for example.
10:10 They should add Punt to the game as a DLC, it's the only trade destination to be off the map it looks like. I don't know much about the Bronze Age tbh, but if it is a noteworthy trade destination, it would be cool to be able to fully interact with it. I like the idea of being able to go further down into Africa in general.
Bro, seriously. There is a feature in the game put there by the developer for players to use that doesn't work well, and your response is that it is the players fault? What are you, an apple user? What is with the apologizing for bad game design nowadays? Do you want developers to intentionally put bad features in the game?
@@Realtimehammer the game is balanced around large unit scale. If you have a weak PC you can go lower or go higher if you want more crazy action. But It’s impossible to balance the game around all unit scales, you just have to accept that some things will not work as intended.
@@shmekelfreckles8157 yes exactly, the game is BALANCED around a certain unit scale. Which means that if you play on a different unit scale the battles will be unbalanced. It does not say that it is broken on other unit scales, nor does it imply it. Models not responding in a unit when you give it an order is a bad feature, not a balancing issue.
@@shmekelfreckles8157 and by the way, on that topic, in many total war games even on the recommended settings the models don't work properly. So what are you on about exactly?
@@Realtimehammer what feature you’re criticizing even? Costin’s complaint was tgat too many chariot entities get stuck on eachother which is a big issue because he’s playing on the biggest unit scale. Anything else is irrelevant to this topic.
The Merchant legacy is fundamentally bugged. When you put stuff into your wagon, the game clearly tells you that it is full - yet you can still cram infinitely stuff into it. Try playing the game and stop adding stuff into it when the game says it is full. It definitely makes it more balanced.
Playing Achilles campaign right now and even though he starts with three food regions (after taking Iolcos) and can expand to more quite easily he can't maintain even one 20 stack without a huge deficit of food until the mid game. While the AI with a single food settlement can make two 20 stacks and a smaller stack no problem, plus they kamikaze towards you with these stacks of slinger trash that you have to chase around and when you've destroyed them, they have already recruited another full stack that they send like a cruise missile across the map only to get destroyed. I really think dynasties needs a population system like in divide etc impera mod for Rome 2. Punish the AI for using stupid human wave tactics and make them more tactical. Also a minor AI faction with 1-2 settlements should not be able to afford two and a half stacks. The problem is the Devs think that difficulty is giving the AI a cheating economy so that they have more armies instead of making the AI smarter and more difficult to fight in battle. Wouldn't it be nice to see a battle AI use real tactics like refused flank or weakened centre or feigned retreat...instead of another stack of cheap unit spam.
I don't think anything of what you mentioned is really a big issue, especially as the game develops. I am about to finish the Hanilgabat campaign and I have millions of everything. I think I am making 78,000 food per turn. I remember my beginnings struggling for a few hundreds. You need to chose your units carefully, chariots are very weak, especially when confronted to archer cavalry, and are easy target for elite archers. You need to choose god very carefully. First, gods that like war and help war. Then gods that help to keep a balance between happiness and influence, building shrines and outposts in every province. Anything that has to do with workforce, welcome, because that will speed up your growth and, if others grow faster, you are doomed. There are other outposts that stimulates the economy, use them. And riot and loot enemies' outposts because they will give you an extra income to support your troops: gold, plus other things.
I want to have an option to remove cavalry from my campaign, even if it was some cavalry units in mesophotamia in this period, as we know, an AI is just having them in every army, wich ruins an immersion
I don't see an option to increase my units size in campaign customisation. In your footages you have 180 man in your infantry, and i think mine is only 120
You forgot to mention the game's biggest problem... NO AMAZONS!!! The only faction I've ever played in Troy, and the faction I logged a lot of hours on. I found them so fun, and I loved how their roster is focused on upgrading units from t1 upwards through unit xp. Very balanced and cool system. They were also an exception to the rule when it came to the heavy armor dominating everything. Because you could afford to amass light/medium spears, use them as a frontline, and then flank with 2h spears and you could destroy heavy units. The light skirmishers like slingers and archers were also very good at taking out enemy skirmishers.
I think the Cimmerians were supposed to have the Amazons as their main leader because one of the traits it has in the diplomacy screen is Amazon Queen and that it has no voice lines for the greetings in diplomacy. It also has Hippolyta's faction symbol I believe. It led me to believe that the Cimmerians were supposed to be the Amazons but they didn't have enough time to implement them which is why i found them lacking voicelines and clearly a trait that should have emphasized their matriarchal society to be some indications that they did try to implement them but didn't in the end.
Purely subjective point bro. No amazons make sense, it's a historical total war and I don't like the ahistorical stuff they put in, but I can swallow it, but I don't like the idea of putting in a complete fantasy society in a game that is supposed to reflect history.
@Realtimehammer exactly, I accepted the inclusion of cavalry because it's objectively great for battles. And makes modding the game to future eras way easier.
@@davidstansbury9309 sure, I do think it is a bit lazy though, because in this period chariots were king and because they can't get them to work well they're more of an annoyance. This id a real shame and it shows the core issues the historical franchise has, if you don't get the tools and recources to make things work, it can make the end product feel cheap to the consumer. Hopefully they will develop a newer engine that is able to deal with these models at some point, though alas that won't do any good for this game.
