I did it. I think everyone "played" with bugs in that manner at some point. Some make them fight, some pull out their wings/limbs and see what they're gonna do, some create a mini-ecosystem aka battle royale with all the insects one could find outside, to see who prevails over a period of time. Whoever did NOT do that shit either had a lot of toys or gaming consoles, or both. Or was a hello kitty fan girl. Altho one might argue those can be way more cruel.
In Japan catching and having insects as pets is fairly common. The market there was insane when I was a child; you'd had dedicated stores for equipment and shit to keep em all alive at the most optimum environment. You'd either catch your own beetle or buy a 'rare' species from the stores. Battling them too to a degree lol. Had a beetle as a pet for good 5 months or so, didnt want to get it killed too quick so i just kept it in its cage (most of the time). Would also catch and keep frogs in bottles lol My dad and his friends would do the same as a child. Apparently, he had a bunch of insects and conducted fight tournaments amongst each other. You aren't alone Rata. Edit: Lol didnt expect you guys to be aware of it once I finished the vid. Catching all sorts of wild shit in the wilderness is the best as a child, even if its pretty damn cruel thinking back. Also quite common to catch crabs, crayfish in rivers for kids in JP. Surprisingly, Kabuto Beetles are durable enough to fight off Crayfish - cool learning experience lol. The unfortunate thing is that population for insects has been declining at a rapid scale, its so much harder to find exotic insects now compared to say 10-20 years ago. Such a shame.
There really are way less bugs now than just a couple decades ago. I remember as a kid in the 90s and my dad driving the car having the windshield absolutely painted with bugs. I recall it getting so bad on one drive to FL from PA that he went through several gallons of wiper fluid in Georgia and northern Florida as if we were driving through bug storms. It doesn't seem to happen at all anymore like that. Also, there were waay more lightning bugs as a kid. I dont know if it's cyclical or what the explanation is but there's definitely a noticeable difference.
I'm from the US. I remember forcing crayfish I caught from streams to have death battles in elementary school. I would also genocide ant hills for fun.
Don't be ashamed Rata, me and my older brother did the same, we even tried making 2 colonies of ants go to war with each other, it's normal. Or maybe it's kinda weird, i remember that my bro crucified a little lizard with the thorns of a dry tree once, fun times
not only did we do the ole “burning ants with the magnifying glass” thing in 1990, my friend actually would nail them to the rotting old picnic table before he did it so they wouldn’t get away… might be a good thing he ended up in a wheel chair 🤔😂
When I was in elementary school I played with my friends and we would capture bugs to feed his lizard and our goal was to find the biggest insect and that person would win.
Oh dude when I was kid I loved to do such experiments and watch what will happen. Then once I found out which bug was victorious I went on a quest to find even stronger opponent. Poor bugs though :(
"If I had just crushed them--if I had just killed them in my house--you wouldn't have had a problem with it." "Just put it outside. That's easy enough." Notice that he didn't actually refute your statement. Because he knows. He knows in his heart of hearts that bugs have no rights, and we all silently agree. Sorry, bugs. It's not personal. Unless you crawl into my clothes or my bed. Then it's personal.
His fascination with Earth Defense Force suddenly makes a lot of sense
It is an extremely normal thing to mess with insects

@@Sentinel_ICBM Noticed that too!
It's mainly due to habitat destruction and synthetic pesticides and fertilisers.
Such a shame

Its normal and good to engage with nature.
I thought this was referring to PALworld.
Nope, Just rata being an insane outcast beetle smasher as a child haha
The "I wonder what its stats are" part cracks me up everytime
these little clips from the streams are so funny to watch lmao i hope you keep uploading them
messing with insects are fun,
and I’m tired of pretending that it’s not.

Don't worry, Rata. I had a friend in grade school who would dismember insects and feed their appendages to themselves lol
that’s a new one 😂
Rata was completely right here why are they shaming him so hard lol
3:18 Franz Kafka's The Metamorphosis, just got a whole lot darker.
When I was in elementary school I played with my friends and we would capture bugs to feed his lizard and our goal was to find the biggest insect and that person would win.
As a kid I used to throw diverse insects in spider webs to see how the spiders would do their deed. Kind of the same thing.
I bet Rata would put bugs in a jar, then fart in it just to see if they would suffocate.
A true scientific mind in the making.
I was expecting a video about palworld but you just revealed you did the first step of serial killers.
Oh dude when I was kid I loved to do such experiments and watch what will happen. Then once I found out which bug was victorious I went on a quest to find even stronger opponent. Poor bugs though :(
I definitely had a spider collection as a kid. I think I had 80 or 100 at a time.
This explains the EDF love!
I can think of two worse things that people have done with jars. You're fine.
I definitely did that. I even ate the losers
Rata is right. Kids do it all the time!
Didn't know rata was into "vore"
"If I had just crushed them--if I had just killed them in my house--you wouldn't have had a problem with it."
"Just put it outside. That's easy enough."

NGL I did that.
I don't even kill bugs in my house. If it doesn't need to die why kill it?
I did it
Sociopathatoskr
Nah this isn’t normal rata. Sorry
Rata would often bring his feral insects to school before they died and force feed them to his classmates while demanding they "eat the Rare Candy".
