I can see you and Bert getting one of these Tigercats and with the 22MB fill up all of tge surrounding fields!!!😂😂😂😂 Thanks for the video!! Lots of people have no idea of this part of the process of gathering wood!! Stay Hydrated and Have a Safe Day
Chain saws replaced double man saws. Most jobs/tools are eventually replace with a better faster safer way eventually. Not many people ridding a horse and buggy these days.
Nice work by the operator, machine and you. Toilet paper raw material but I noticed he stacked a little cherry separately. They really keep that machine clean for being two years old. GNI
I know now that i have a harvestor i wont go into the woods without it.. gets rid of alot of trees quick .. like this spring had a 270 acre woods to clear cut and startedj on it the beginning of march and finished it 2 weeks ago. And started the next 112 acre spot last week. Only downside is need more skidders to keep up with it. Lol..
What happens to all the "slash" laying on the ground when they are done harvesting trees? Do they pile it up and burn it or.......???? Again I am from the plains of SD, we have no trees here (very few) when we have that stuff laying on the ground we have to pile it, or try to use it for firewood or something. (sometimes just burn it, after it is piled)
How many men with chainsaws is this machine doing the work of? Certainly must be hardly any injury and death in the woods now .In less than a minute a tree is felled, cut in to accurate lengths, half the bark stripped off and sorted if need be.And the operator will be as warm as toast in the winter no doubt listening to his favourite music.
Used harvesters can cost $300,000+ depending on how many bells and whistles the unit has. To justify the price, this equipment should be running full-time including maintenance. That is an investment far beyond most.
I always thought of a feller buncher as laying down full length trees being skidded out with a grapple skidder to a landing and being run through a processor, thinking different parts of the country using generic terms in the end.
By producing other revnue streams i.e. contract logging from this very expensive equipment he able to subsidize his firewood raw material acquisition costs to the point of close to net zero. Allowing his company to then process these no net cost wood logs into the higest value "excepting pizza oven kindling" firewood. Income is maximized and costs for raw materials is/are largely non-existent. Lots of capital deployed to lower costs and increase margins while keeping his finished products costs less than his compatitors that may have no employees. Even his bean counters are happy, Smart. Ray Stormont PS This equipment looks to be fun to operate, it's like the military guys who train mightly for special ops in no small part because they get to blow things up!!
Good morning Chris!!😀😀 It's nice but I don't believe it's a Scorpion killer. I know a couple guys that would make him look pretty bad with their Scorpions. Take care buddy!!😀😀💚💚 Logger Al
Tree cutting machinery has come a long way in the past 50 years, the coolest thing when I was a kid was when my step-dad got a new log skidder.
Yup, they are all about speed and power!
That’s a heck of a machine. I like how remove lot the bark. Lot wood here rot fast if bark still on. Thanks for sharing
The bark comes off because it is spring time and the trees are full of sap!

Yup, it is very cool to see first hand!
👍👍👍
G’morning Chris. I will watch this in entirety when I get home from surgery today. Septum, turbinates and uvula. I’ll be back !!
GoodNightIrene.
Good luck with the air intake upgrades.
Cool how the steps folded away! Really great video and camera angles Chris!! GNI
Glad you enjoyed it Mr.Bill!
A well thought out machine and a skilled operator equals-carnage in the woods
Yes it sure does!
Impressive machine. I got to stand next to one last summer, and they are massive
Yup, they sure are!
Another job taken away from the "Lumberjack" Impressive machine!
Probably no one complaining about PPE either. makes one wonder how it is cutting into the ER doctors and hospitals business🤪. 1%💩😁

Yup!

Yes, the cherry will be firewood most likely.
What is the benefits of the machine stripping the bark? For the mill?
Very good day for me like big machine good video ( Ty Ron
Thanks Ron!
The stairs folding up! 😮
Yup, lots of cool features on that puppy!

Yup, good harvesters and operators make wood faster than the skidders can keep up!
Wow that’s amazing!👍💪💪👍
You need to buy your boss one..... SHE will love it!
Nice Logging, clean up will be fun once all the big logs are gone, mulch or burn?😊
99% of the time the tops are left to decay and add nutrients to the soil for the next growth of trees...just like in nature.
Tigercat makes it all look so easy🤷♂️ 👍🏻👍🏻GNI
Yup, all you need is about $850k
He also releases the big ones as they fall. Less jolt in the cab and less chance of breaking something.
Yup, lots of weight there!

They leave it to rot. Unless the property owner plans on clearing the land for agricultural use.
99% of the time it is left to decay and add nutrients back into the soil for the next batch of trees.
Makes quick work of those trees
Yup, it does that!
When are you and Bert going to get yall one of those.
We figure one for each of us.

Yup, I am sure it can do the work of 5-10 men or more, like chain saw did to an axe.
Good morning. Chris. And. Hey
Good morning Ralphy Baby...have a good day my good man!
What will eventually happen with all the waste?
99% or the time it is left for decomposing into nutrients for the next batch of trees, just like in nature.
I wonder why after the tree gets its first cut and it’s felled the operator cuts off the bottom 6”?
Mainly to restart the measurement sensor for the log cut and to clean up the end from a crooked cut, hinge or rot.
Chris
I have a story about trying to buy parts for a yardmax wood splitter
People need to know
How can I contact you?
email me at chrisinthewoodyard@gmail.com
I did
Let me know if you got it
Why is there always a cookie dut off the butt end?
Most of the time to reset the measuring sensors for log length but also to cut off any splitting/hinge/rot/crooked cuts from the end.
You ordered one for us?

@joeahopelto8032 growing up on a farm, I know maintenance and good equipment aren't cheap.
@@joeahopelto8032 they are beyond the used market it will be new or nothing 🤪. 1% 💩😁
Nope, three.
Yup.
In the South we call them feller/buncher.
Yup, I have heard ....feller, buncher, processor, log machine but the company calls it a harvester so....
I always thought of a feller buncher as laying down full length trees being skidded out with a grapple skidder to a landing and being run through a processor, thinking different parts of the country using generic terms in the end.
