I left Lancashire in 1983, was homesick for a year and never felt like that again until I heard this track. Also makes me think of my soon to be son-in-law who is currently serving in Afghanistan. And YES we have open arms for them to come back to. Love every track of this album! Great memories of Elbow live in Brighton!
Elbow does it again! Masterful music and heartfelt lyrics are just a portion of the goodness this band has in its collective musical goody bag. Real Music for real music lovers not affected or pompous just sweet melodies and atmospherics to flavor the story that is every song Elbow has ever created ..here is another great one ..enjoy.
This song feels like it should be sung in a warm pub on a cold winter's day after midnight, just before the last orders are taken. Leaving everyone with warm hearts and big smiles across their faces
Just when you thought the guys couldn't recreate some magic of One Day Like This, they produce another magnificent anthem. Sublime song from a sublime album. Elbow's sound still grows and gets better, and Garvey's lyrics are stunning on Build a Rocket Boys.
I thought Seldom Seen Kid was Elbow at their pinicle, Build a Rocket Boys blows that theory clean out of the water how good can one band be. majestic. Keep up the good work fellas.
purely majestic i taught seldom seen kid was good but they have reached new heights with build a rocket boys elbow are what music is all about at this time
I love this band! I discovered Elbow with the Leaders of the Free World album, but I quickly picked up their entire catalogue. These guys get better with every album, and I would love to see them really break through here in the US. I, for one, love music from the UK. Most of my favorite bands are from the UK, or they are under-appreciated in the US while having many fans in the UK and the world.
Been thinking about buying an Epiphone Jack Casady bass.. But now I've seen this I immediately ordered one. IF IT'S GOOD ENOUGH FOR PETE, IT'S GOOD ENOUGH FOR ME!
Yeaa ive seen them live at Wembley Sadium 80,000+. Without a doubt very skilled and high quality live performers. Although when Guy opened up with Starlets he started siging the second verse instead of the first. Everyone had a laugh, even the band. After that no probs!
Hallo Elbow dieser Song ist so schön ich habe ihn wohl das 20 mal hintereinander angehört und die Ganze CD ist spitze habe sie gekauft, und spiele deine Songs auch in meiner Sendung
Seeing them in just over a week in Manchester. It'll be the 4th time, but never in a venue as big as the MEN. Part of me will miss seeing them in the smaller venues but 'tis the price of progress I suppose....
@Tommanc1 There is amazing music everywhere. In every town, in every dirty little nook and cranny of the world. What you are referring to is the corporate music climate, and does not reflect what is actually happening in bars and basements across America, and everywhere else.
Is it just me or does this version sound fuller and more vibrant than the one on the album? I mean, they're both great but I think I actually prefer this one.
@Tommanc1 true... for a country that spawned some of the greatest bands in history and was the birthplace of so many fantastic genres they have let themselves down in the 21st century... wahay! Lady Gaga!
@Chris51 this one in particular bass is a fairly modern bass, sound pretty good also. You obviously aren't a bass player with that analysis of semi-hollow basses.
@MrThatguy1856 I am tortured by the idea that I will never own every song released, like b-sides, let alone the material they must have dumped over the years
@Chris51 yeah, i didn't mean to come across brash ("you obviously aren't a...etc") but you are right, it is a matter of taste. I've also seen some bass players abuse a good solid body, making it sound absolutely horrible. Cringe-worthy. lol
Who's going to deny this? Only people who can't feel. It's amazing how music can provoke emotions. I feel love when I hear this.
My God...This song just made me tear of happiness, remembering all the loving people in my life.
This song cheers me up. There are always open arms for broken hearts.
I love you elbow. Whatever you do, please never stop with your music until the end. Never stop, you're my drug. I need your music. Everybody does
'We have open arms for broken hearts...'
WOW!!! I am so moved by this.

Goosebumps from head to toe ....
LITERALLY
This band is a bunch of stars and this tune is from the heavens.

Absolutely adore this, favourite from the album, Guy Garvey's voice is just beautiful
this will raise the roof at the O2. this never fails to make me smile x
Perfect, in every sense of the word.
Amazing.
Just wow.
Just... if Elbow's music was personified into one person, I would marry that person.
This song feels like it should be sung in a warm pub on a cold winter's day after midnight, just before the last orders are taken.
Leaving everyone with warm hearts and big smiles across their faces
NoCareLuke

Utterly superb, charming, uplifting and inspiring.

Yeaa ive seen them live at Wembley Sadium 80,000+. Without a doubt very skilled and high quality live performers. Although when Guy opened up with Starlets he started siging the second verse instead of the first. Everyone had a laugh, even the band. After that no probs!

at 0:48, is it just me or does that viola/violin have 5 strings? Never seen that before!
The song is fantastic.

Can't wait to hear this at Glastonbury. They're going to be the band of the year.
@Tommanc1
There is amazing music everywhere. In every town, in every dirty little nook and cranny of the world. What you are referring to is the corporate music climate, and does not reflect what is actually happening in bars and basements across America, and everywhere else.
And Ontario!
Is it just me or does this version sound fuller and more vibrant than the one on the album? I mean, they're both great but I think I actually prefer this one.
Great tune. 4:23 - he looks a little like dave grohl lol.
@Tommanc1 true... for a country that spawned some of the greatest bands in history and was the birthplace of so many fantastic genres they have let themselves down in the 21st century... wahay! Lady Gaga!
Like a bunch of boss's!
@Chris51 this one in particular bass is a fairly modern bass, sound pretty good also. You obviously aren't a bass player with that analysis of semi-hollow basses.
If Guy Garvey can make only 2 chords sound this incredible, imagine what he can do with 8? Or 20?
0 dislikes... the way should be :)
OK... who disliked to piss off the top commenter? Coz NO ONE could seriously hate this song...
Craig is Grohl. Wonderful.
I'm going to play this at my wedding

@MrKnighty58 says a lot about your music taste
@Chris51 yeah, i didn't mean to come across brash ("you obviously aren't a...etc") but you are right, it is a matter of taste. I've also seen some bass players abuse a good solid body, making it sound absolutely horrible. Cringe-worthy. lol
