That truck should be in a museum. I remember when they were new and was shocked at the big round holes in the frame and the lack of a full floating rear axle. If I remember it has a Dana 44 front axle too. They improved them as the years went on and beefed them up and became good trucks. Had a 1982 F-150 4x4 with a 300 and a 4 speed over drive. It was a great truck and did everything I asked of it and some of it was more than I should have asked

    • @fwcjr8170

This one is a light duty 3/4 ton which had the light duty axles and springs. It was based on gvwr which I don’t remember what it was. The heavy duty 3/4 ton had a full floating rear axle and much larger front hubs as well. It was rated at 8600 lb gvwr. I agree with the other comments that this truck belongs in a museum or some collectors garage.

And yes, I'm an autobody guy and the steel used for the body panels then Vs now, is night and day. The old trucks the beds were twice as thick as modern ones, surprisingly I've found the frames to be a bit beefier as well... A lot of modern trucks used stamped steel, its just a piss poor cheap way to do things.

A working feedback carb system on these is rare in itself. They were extremely easy to disable and convert to straight carb and many people who got these just pulled the systems off themselves. They broke down a lot especially under heavy use anyway and there is little chance of restoring an old one to working order because parts are nearly nonexistent. You might just have the last completely stock bullnose underhood.

Awesome truck. This one has the “Swiss cheese frame”’ Ford used that for a year or 2 on the 150 and under 8000lb 250 to cut weight. They case hardened around the holes to keep the strength. Also this one has the semi float Dana 60. Too bad you can buy this truck today. I had to buy/build my 84 c3500 to get the truck I wanted

I wish ford would make brand new "resto mods" of some of the classics. Same body, new drivetrain to meet emissions and all that.

My father bought the exact same truck . In 1980 f250 4x4 4 speed with the 400 cid. Same color ext. And int. With the plow setup. Truck was a real work horse. He even put a nice set of hooker. Side Pipes man that thing sounded awesome.

That truck will out last my new Platinum! I mean, the front bumper on that old Ford has more metal than the entire bed on the new pieces of poop!

Also, has the zigzag bias plies! Awesome I’d keep them. Notice no blue oval on the grille. Ford didn’t start that agin till 81 or 82. Very special truck

I saw one on line a few months ago and I believe it was a 1982 with 12,000 miles on it. This one here 1980 much better shape than the one I seen.
    Yesterday on UA-cam I saw a 1990 F-150 with 53,000 miles
