I don’t understand why you haven’t just built a Honda 300 with custom control arms and went irs in the rear and then stretched it and put some portals and a tranny reduction. And run some 47-54 bkts yet.
It's a pretty simple reason that's not the right platform to do that with. The Rubicon has more power better gearing options and a front locking differential from the factory. Also I don't really build stupid big stuff like that because I don't just drive from one mud hole to the next I also have to cover a lot of ground and do trails

Debating between a pioneer 520 or spending the extra and getting a talon 1000r. P5 will be on portals the day i get it and both will be on 33” aztexs. Mostly sloppy mud. Opinions?
You really couldn't pick two more different machines. I don't even know where to start with that. The little Pioneer has essentially no suspension and is very three wheel drive. The Talon has great power but is about three and a half wheel drive LOL
Talon all the way!! P500 is great on 50” trails but talon is just way way way more fun and comfortable and not as slow or clunky sounding

Pioneer just as good in mud as talon?
Very loaded. Question depends on about a million factors. Pioneer has front locker but talon has more suspension, articulation and more power and clears larger tire stock. But that's just the start of the conversation
@MudPuppyOffroad with same size tires which does better in say hollowpaw? Doing water hole crossings? Does talons edge over pioneer matter?

@MudPuppyOffroad okay I'm about to get a 2024 1000-5 Pioneer I think... just wanted to make sure I wasn't leaving myself open to a disappointment on the trails/ mud holes from what I can tell you lose top speed performance which I'm not really looking and some comfort, I just need to keep up with everyone else... with the pioneer I would gain a front Locker and extra storage room at the cost of comfort and speed... about right? Any other draw backs I should take into account? Do you have any buyer remorse after swapping to pioneer from talon?
