    First off congratulations👏 Second, what’s tripping me out is the 60hp out of a 250cc, that only weighs 180ish Lbs, WOW!🤯 What kind of torque does this little KTM beast put out? Sweet! Can’t wait to see the next video on it. Yay!😃

    • @vtranmoto
      @vtranmoto  2 роки тому

      DUKIE!!! So great to hear from you as always. Isn't that absolutely insane what they are pushing out of a single-cylinder 250cc motor? It definitely makes sense that the services/rebuilds are so frequent. I'm not sure about torque specs, but I am excited and terrified all at once. I will try and get the bike on a dyno soon (along with the others) and share results. Thanks as always. :)

      My/The 2018 Vulcan S 650 only has 54 to 57 hp with 46ft. Lbs of torque, and weighs almost 3 times as much , with it all loaded up ,but this little 250cc has more horsepower and torque..!!! ..??? Whoa 😮 I also have a 2022 Zx6r and a 2020 Z900abs, so I can imagine how fast and quick that thing jumps up into real quickness and the ability or capabilities to reach those speeds going around a track , going to enjoy watching you take that little beast to the track !!! Good luck 🍀 and thx 🙏 for sharing

      @@allancooper3865 thanks Allan, I think where it’ll really shine is IN the corners. Supposedly these things can carry more corner speed than a MotoGP (in some corners). The question is can I go fast enough to be able to use the suspension to hold the line 😅😅😅

    • @vtranmoto
      @vtranmoto  19 днів тому

      Hey man, thanks for watching. Moto3 prices can vary a bit based on history/pedigree and condition. On the lower end I’ve seen them around $30,000 (USD) and on the higher end like this one it’s closer to $45-50,000. This one was a bit higher priced since it was part of the VR46 Team, fully functional, and was refreshed prior to the sale. A local KTM dealership would not be able to service this - the GP engines are an entirely different animal than your standard production bike. Before buying, have a look around to see if there’s someone in your region or area that has familiarity with 250cc GP engines like Honda NSF250s etc.
      I’ve had a few laps on it and it is absolutely unreal. Puts any other bike I’ve ever tried to same in terms of “raceyness” but it is a pain in the butt for upkeep unless you just so happen to have a team behind you (I don’t). So for now it’s become a statement piece in my living room (sad I know).

      Great questions, parts are sourced through the dealer and conveniently a few folks race Moto3s in various series in the US. It’s a small community so I’ve learned a lot just talking with them. Regarding mechanic, I have a mechanic who I super trust, he does all the work on my RC8C but no experience with a Moto3 motor. The plan is to do a shakedown at Barber in a few weeks, if I fall head over heels and the Moto3 becomes my regular track bike then I think we will order a spare motor and can do swaps, while one is sent into Florida for service (Florida is where our moto3 dealer/mechanic is located). Much more hassle than a turnkey trackbike but hopefully the experience warrants it!

      There’s the Formula 3, 2, and 1. Just from a performance perspective it would wallop any machine in F3 and 2, but would be a struggle against the sheer power of F1 bikes. Though at our level and at the size of the circuits we have, I don’t think it’s that big of an advantage. Moto3 bikes can turn a 2:16 at COTA so there’s still plenty of power!

    What is gated(locked) neutral?

    • @vtranmoto
      @vtranmoto  Рік тому +1

      It is a mechanism to help prevent the rider from getting into a false neutral (can be very dangerous on track). The rider presses a button that allows them to shift from 1st to Neutral. Otherwise neutral is gated. On a road bike, the shift pattern is 1 > N > 2, 3, 4, 5, 6. On the Moto3 it is N > 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 with a gate between N and 1. Hope that makes sense!

      This one was a little under $50,000, though you can find retired Moto3s anywhere from $25,000 on up. It entirely depends on the condition, Team associated, and mileage (this one is under 900 miles and still in excellent shape + Rossi’s autograph). Thanks for watching!

    Can u not bump Start without a starter

    • @vtranmoto
      @vtranmoto  2 роки тому +1

      Great question, apparently when it’s a cold start you need to use a roller to get the oil flowing a bit before firing it up, additionally it’s very hard in general to bump start it (cold) due to its very high compression. When it’s up and running and everything is warmed up I think it’s easier/possible to bump start (as we see in the races when the pilot has an off and re-enters the race).
