The water in the lazy river was COLD, and adding insult to injury there was at least one point where it jetted out above the water line. 9 year old me got hit by that and let out a "WHAT THE ****" Dad was all "I get it, I'm not mad, I said the same thing to myself, just don't do it again"

2 things I remember which I know 1 is definitely gone.
    1) The mailboxes on Main Street USA which were real mailboxes as Disney World had its own post office and zip code. So all the postcards sent through the mailboxes were stamped from Walt Disney World.

Yup, but not all the passes remained useable forever. Many of the multi passes in Disney World, if not all used up could be used at a later date. Yet, Disney was constantly changing the rules on the day passes and park hopper passes and you had to do your research to get the best deal! Disney land also had different rules for their passes due to its limited size and parks. It’s ticket prices were considerably cheaper due to less attractions. That has been changing in the last ten years because Disney Land has been able to expand.

My first visit was in 94 and I remember at MGM my dad and I walked into a small shop where a “director” was asking for volunteers to star in a little scene they would produce right there in the shop. He gave us lines and props/costume items and helped us improve our performance. The experience lasted about 20-30min. At the end they filmed it and we were able to purchase the VHS. It was such a unique and fun experience. I have never met anyone else who has any clue what I’m talking about.

In the imagination Pavilion on the second floor you could experience a green scene. They would record you reacting to a video you would see on a teleprompter TV. You would run in place and do all sorts of silly things while being recorded. Fun times!😁🌅🎇🎆💕

I have several from my past experiences going to Disney as a child. I remember character meet and greets happened at random locations in the middle of the park throughout the day. The characters would just show up in the crowds or just gather around them. It rarely happens today but not to the extent of what it used to. Now you have to get in a long line at a specific spot during a specific time to see a character. The next thing I remember that they don’t do anymore is they used to have a canoe trip tied in to the evening campfire at wilderness resort. To get to the campfire you would have to get on a canoe and row the canoe down a small river. I also remember a character breakfast in the same location where they perform hoop Dee Doo in the afternoons and evenings. How about ride sponsorships? I know many years ago every Disney ride had some form of sponsorship and they were prominent and mentioned several times in the attraction itself. Now it seems that very few rides are sponsored and even then, the sponsor is only mentioned by a sign on the outside. Anyone remember the skyway connecting fantasy land in tomorrowland? Also, you can go on forever with the rods that have been removed, replaced, or changed so much they’re nowhere near what they used to be. If you had wings, mission to the moon, Mr. toads wild ride, 20,000 leagues under the sea, horizons, body wars, World of motion, universe of energy, and the list goes on and on. I would like to see a video of just the rides that we can’t do anymore

@@jamiekolendowicz8929 True but sponsorships comes with a price. Business want their product to represented in a way that benefits them and it becomes political. I am sure it goes both ways that no one wants someone’s else’s name to effect them negatively. I think that Disney has gotten to big and commercialized which has taken away from the safe, limited stressful family events that most people are seeking. It was a great place to go in the seventies and eighties but it was still expensive and stressful, we lived in Florida and that was the only way we were able to go.🌅🎇💕🎆

We just checked out of Old Key West. Been at Orlando for a little over a week now. Beware of The Disney Bus Service. My wife and I and our other family that came with us all had terrible long wait times at the bus stops. I’ve been going to Old Key West for well over 25 years. I have never seen the bus service this bad before. Average wait times 45 minutes. A few times we got lucky and only waited 15 minutes. We did see a few busses that were in training. The ferry’s to Disney Springs are also not running which really is a bummer. The ride just to get to Disney springs is 30 minutes using the bus. Add a wait time on top of that and your spending over an hour to get to Disney springs.
Covid has hit Disney hard. It is obvious from complaints that I’ve heard from most people we meet at the bus stops that there is a lack of buses. So if you are using the bus service you need to plan that into your day. It sucks, but what can you do.

They got rid of the Muppets Mobile Lab?! I’m so sad; I didn’t know that! I used to love catching them roaming about whenever I visited Epcot. I’m sure they were still there last time I visited back in 2019. Another side effect of this cursed plague, no doubt.

DisneyQuest was Amazing! The very first time my family went to DisneyWorld, we would be at the parks all day from open to close, and then head to DisneyQuest for some after hours fun. It was 5 floors of every type of arcade games you could think of and a very delicious cafe at the top level that had a super rich chocolate cupcake. Made me think of the Matilda cake scene everytime we got one. Huge. Chocolate. Delicious!
But nothing was more magical than stepping into the interactive elevator and having the Genie and Magic Carpet transport you to the land of fun. I really hope they can find a way to bring it back. ❤

I never went as a kid, but took my girls the first opportunity I could. We’ve done DW in ‘12, ‘18, and just this past April. We always have a great time, but my husband and I always talk about how the prices keep skyrocketing and the “magic” is plummeting.

The Mouse needs to recoup those billions of dollars after buying 20th Century Fox LOL But seriously, I agree with you. It's reaching a point where normal folks simply can't afford it - or they have to go deep in debt to get there. Disney has always been a huge corporate entity but especially in the past decade... it's gotten REALLY corporate and I hate it.
