  • Swollen legs can have several underlying causes, with four primary contributors: Venous Hypertension, Medication side effects, Lymphedema, and Lipedema. In this video, we delve into these factors and provide an in-depth look at Venous Hypertension, which often leads to Chronic Venous Insufficiency - one of the most common causes of leg swelling.
Venous Hypertension: This condition involves the venous system and is characterized by elevated pressures, resulting from either obstruction or Chronic Venous Insufficiency. We will explore some interesting cases to help you understand early diagnosis and management.
Lymphedema: This occurs when various pathologies affect the lymphatic system, leading to the accumulation of lymph in the interstitial spaces and causing swelling and edema in the impacted organs.
Lipedema: This condition involves an excessive and abnormal accumulation of fat in different organs, often beginning early in life and having a strong genetic component.
Medication side effects: Some medications can also contribute to leg swelling, and we'll briefly discuss which ones to watch out for.
In this video, we'll focus primarily on Venous Hypertension and its connection to swollen legs. Stay tuned for future videos where we'll discuss the other causes in more detail.
