I bought that record in 1976 ! I didn`t know Dio at all, but I knew Richie Blackmore and I thought I can't do wrong with this buy. One in the same year Rainbow came to my hometown and I was there. So I became an absolute huge Dio fan. THE unique voice of metal !!! Rock in peace, Ronnie 🤘🥰
First really heard Dio w/ Rainbow on Stargazer, got into Dio Sabbath soon after, Dio just blew me away, only vocalist that could honestly compete with Rob Halford at the time...of course as a kid I heard Man on the Silver Mountain on the radio (back when radio DJ's could actually play what they wanted), but it took me years to rediscover that song.
Well Millie, you have won me over. you obviously see talent when you see it, my hats off to you as DIO is the best metal and hard rock singer of all time, I met him twice in concerts and when i hear his songs it brings tears to my eyes, may he rest in eternal peace, among the other metal gods.
Dio and Blackmore, amazing, one of my favorite songs of all time. Gotta give some credit to the amazing Cozy on drums, Jimmy Bain on bass and I feel the kind of underrated Tony Carey on keys. Not to mention Martin Birch who produced this album. He was the go to guy during this period. Rainbow, Purple, Iron Maiden, Whitesnake, Black Sabbath with Dio, Blue Oyster Cult, even Fleetwood Mac. One of the greatest producers/engineers of all time.
Ok, the look on your face when Blackmore got to the peak of his solo was so priceless, I had to subscribe. Yeah, he was THAT good. He, and Jimmie Page, and especially Tony Iommi defined what heavy metal would become. Thanks for the reaction video, HIGHLY entertaining for me. 👍🤘
I don't think there's ever been a better combo than Dio on vocals with Blackmore on guitar. Thank you for choosing this song, I love it. One of my top five all time. No one matches Dio.
Deep Purple's guitarist Ritchie Blackmore formed Rainbow in 1975 after being frustrated w/ the band situation... he decided to start a new band from scratch and only he would be the key member... (Deep Purple carried on w/ guitarist Tommy Bolin from 1975 to '76 before splitting up) The first Rainbow album "Ritchie Blackmore's Rainbow" was recorded in 1975 w/ members of Elf, Ronnie James Dio's band... Blackmore only retained Ronnie James Dio in 1976 as he took Rainbow on tour for their 2nd album... Because of Blackmore's unpredictability and musical quirkiness... he went through quite a few members from 1976 to 1984: Ronnie James Dio, Graham Bonnet, and Joe Lynn Turner (vocals)... Tony Carey, David Stone, Don Airey, David Rosenthal (keyboards)... Jimmy Bain, Bob Daisley, Roger Glover (bass)... Cozy Powell, Bobby Rondinelli, Chuck Bergi (drums)... Rainbow was a hard rock band until Ronnie James Dio was fired in 1978... Then, Rainbow went in a more pop rock direction in 1979 w/ singer Graham Bonnet ... and then singer Joe Lynn Turner in 1981.
Thanks for the reaction. I would also recommend Rainbow's "Mistreated" live in Munich '77 as a fantastic example of both the musicianship of the group and Dio's range.
The Munich 77 Rainbow DVD was just amazing. Such raw and pure talent together on stage, that generation was blessed to have seen it. (I was only 7, unfortunately) Mistreated was EPIC!
I would recommend "Catch the Rainbow" from that same live album. Mistreated is ok, don't get me wrong, but it has never moved me to tears the way Catch the Rainbow (live) can.
Amen to that 🤘. Wish I could have seen Heaven and Hell on tour, but was too busy with life and raising kids. Next thing I knew, a friend messaged our group to report on Dio's passing. We were all devastated. R.I.P. Ronnie James Dio. Greatest metal singer of all time ❤️🤘🙏
This is the best male metal vocal performance ever. Ritchie’s solo is the wizard climbing the tower and falling. Fascinating fact…IMO Asami of Lovebites is the female Dio. Guess what. 10th July was her birthday. It was also Ronnie’s!
Being of a certain age, as I am, it really cheers my heart and soul to know that people so much younger than myself are enjoying Timeless Brilliance. Peace and love to All ❤
What an amazing band to listen to and see live. I was fortunate enough and blessed to see them live in late 1976 in Chicago. Ronnie's voice was incredible; booming with amazing range and clarity. Ritchie and his mates were unreal and the whole experience was a total face melt that I have not recovered from!!
Thank you, Millie, for reviewing this song! As you told us - this song is epic. So are many of their songs. My suggestion would be Mistreated. If you want a live version, try ua-cam.com/video/3RiJKuYvy0s/v-deo.html. This version is longer than the album version, but you can see and hear their performance in a concert.
Yes Ritchie Blackmore, the guitarist playid in Deep Purple. Rainbow is his solo project. Listen to Catch the rainbow too by rainbow. Still loves your reaction the first time you heard Lazy. It was mega to watch
YES!! Catch the Rainbow, especially from the Live in Munich 1977 album. That version has so much raw power and emotion in it, it's hard to put into words. 🎸🤘
Epic is right Millie, I saw this tune live back in the day, amazing musicians and Dio, Blackmore and Cozy Powell on drums put in performances of a lifetime. Great reaction, everyone who sees this song is an instant fan. They just don't make music like that anymore. For more Ritchie Blackmore outrageous guitar, see Deep Purple at the California Jam 1974 and do You Fool No One, he and Jon Lord on organ get a chance to really shine, Ritchie blasts out one his best solos ever, slaying the quarter million looking on in awe. That whole concert was outrageous with Deep Purple, Black Sabbath and ELP putting on legendary sets. You want epic, check that show out! Enjoy. 🎵🎸🎤🎹🎶
His vocals were not only legendary, his song writing skillset were leagues above anyone who came before or after him! BTW Richie typically plays his solos using that Arabic scale. NOTE: The 2nd part of this song is entitled "A Light in the Black", check it out (Richie's solo in that session is mind blowing & of course Ronnie shines as always)…Thanks for the decades of memories Ronnie, and for you both for show-casing and appreciating the music we grew up on. Great Reaction
Basically Deep Purple band W/ Dio on vocals. Legendary metal god Dios in Latin= God , No Kidding Ps Great reaction 😎 He also sang for Black Sabbath, On his own band > Heaven and Hell
I became hooked on RAIBOW, WHEN I had snucked down into my older sister's bedroom, with all the black light posters!!! I loved the late 70s & 80s METAL!!!
You reacted to Burn by Deep Purple a few days before this - and it is the same guitar player, the one and only Ritchie Blackmore, one of the best guitarists ever.
The guitar player and bass player came from Deep Purple. The drummer and keyboard player from Deep Purple formed Whitesnake with David Coverdale; David was the lead singer in the Burn video you reacted to.
I always love that unintentional reaction on a little smile in anybodys face when they hear Dio singing. My hair stands up on back of my hand every time as well when i listen this diamond piece.
Yep, THIS is what we mean 🤘 Another fine, fine react. Rock to live/L2R. Some of us already know. And Millie seems determined to teach the rest - keep it up Kiddo! rl 🤘👹🤘
If you want to see who is carrying on in the Dio style , check out Liliac . Melody (vocals) has been called the female embodiment of Dio by Vinny Appice . They have done some Dio covers , but their original music is fantastic ! Try Holy Diver , or one of their newest originals , Madness .
Cozy Powell was a beast, I saw him in Rainbow and MSG with Michael Schenker, wish I caught in for his stint in Black Sabbath with Tony Iommi. The heaviest and the best all wanted to riff off Cozy, he brought the sledgehammer wherever he played. RIP.
Ahora que estas reaccionando. A todas estas leyendas del mundo verdadero del rock and roll, te felicito regreso a mi época, saludos cordiales desde Mexicali México para ti ❤
Funny thing is, sure Rainbow w/Dio had some popularity in the 70's but after Dio left Rainbow, they went pretty commercial, which was still damn good, Ritchie wrote some killer rock music in the early '80's, but the Dio era of Rainbow wasn't as popular, 12 minute songs about wizards and magic and LOtR type shit just didn't resonate as much anymore, now a few generations later they completely get it and no one is really writing music like this now, and still no one can touch Ronnie James Dio!
While Dio stands alone as the greatest metal singer of all time, I will confess that I did like some of Joe Lynn Turner's work. I thought he did great on Rainbow's "Straight Between the Eyes" album, especially loving the songs 'Death Alley Driver' and 'Eyes of Fire'.
It would be good for you to learn more about Richie Blackmore's music, history and style. He is the composer of this incredible music that includes baroque and Bach sounds from his organ works. Yes, Richie was Deep Purple's lead guitarist, but also wrote most of their songs. The text was written by the genius Ronnie James Dio based on a story about the construction of the Tower of Babel, but the idea is to show how we believe in every magician who promises us the life we dream of. And when that dream doesn't come true, we try to go back home, but that home is gone. Let's think about it!
sorry to break it to yall but her reactions definitely say she's heard this before. how she groves to the change before it happens and tbh not as much enthusiasm for this being her first time.
Hola. Estupenda banda y canción mortal. Escuche, Helloween y sus canciones Eagle fly free, Helloween, Keper on The Seven Keys y The kingo for a 1000 years. Saludos.

Epic composition from an elite band. One of the best songs ever created. A masterpiece of sound and voice.
Well said in a just few words
R.I.P. Cozy Powell and Dio.....dead but never ever forgotten !!!!
And Jimmy Bain
Both top 3 in thier world. Rip Ronnie and Cozy.
LEGENDS NEVER DIE !!!!!!!!!!!!!
I feel so blessed to have grown up in the the decades of such legendary singers and bands ❤❤
Amen to that!
We grew up in the age of GIANTS! Sadly we'll also all live long enough to see the end of that age...
John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
Hell is REAL. Repent of your sins and turn to God. Believe in his Son Jesus and be saved. God loves you.
UA-cam: 30 Days Touring HELL
This song is like a cosmic tank moving inexorably through the stars and beyond
Yes, the guitarist Ritchie Blackmore is a founder of Deep Purple, Rainbow and Blackmore'Night!)))
blackmore started rainbow after he quit deep purple he hired dio to be the singer and dio is one of the greatest of all time
Dio infelizmente faleceu
He actually recorded the first Rainbow album with Dio and his band Elf without telling Purple until he was ready to make the switch!
One of the GREATEST ROCK SONGS ever written !!!!!
I bought that record in 1976 !
I didn`t know Dio at all, but I knew Richie Blackmore and I thought I can't do wrong with this buy. One in the same year Rainbow came to my hometown and I was there. So I became an absolute huge Dio fan.

Absolutely
Dio + Iommi + Geezer + Appice was pretty epic too
Dio n Viv
Dio + Iommi

Saw Dio with Heaven and Hell in 2009. He kept his voice till the end. Greatest metal singer of all time!
Amen to that 🤘. Wish I could have seen Heaven and Hell on tour, but was too busy with life and raising kids.
Next thing I knew, a friend messaged our group to report on Dio's passing. We were all devastated.

Asami? Interesting. I can see that in some ways. For me it’s Leather Leone.

it really cheers my heart and soul to know that people so much younger than myself are enjoying Timeless Brilliance.

Yes, that's Ritchie on Guitar. You hear and see well. ;-) Cozy Powell on drums. Tony Carey on Keyboards

Yes sir. 70's metal, the lost genre. So much great stuff.
The guitarist is Ritchie Blackmore who was a founding member of Deep Purple. He formed Rainbow when he left Deep Purple
Ritchie Blackmore, he was with Deep Purple.
You saw him in the live of Child in Time.
yes it's metal, richie at that time was trying to find his style and found this rainbow
Gorgeous Millie, Great Ronnie R.I.P.
DIO 🤘🏼I was blessed to see him on The Last in Line tour in the early 80’s at Reunion Arena in Dallas Texas. 🤘🏼🔥DIO is the godfather of metal.
He's easily the greatest metal singer of all time.
Richie Blackmore from Deep Purple, after he left the band from Rainbow, then he and his Wife from Blackmore Nights,
At 7:39 the injection of strings as the Munich Philharmonic Orchestra kicked-in led to a very dramatic end to the song. Amazing.
He was in Deep Purple Back in the day. Blackmoor.
One of the greatest rock albums of all time.
Iconic is the perfect word for it. You spoke perfectly

That opener song was so 90s and I'm here for it.
Yep, THIS is what we mean 🤘

No autotune back in the 70s, just pure talent.
Ritchie Blackmore is the guitarist and that’s his band , he started the band with dio after he left deep purple in 74
Dio is considered one of the best rock vocalist of his time.
That drum intro is just awesome! I think i dont have to say anything about Dio... \m/ >.< \m/
RIP.

ronnie et un super chanteur avec une voix unique , et ritchie blackmore et un grand guitariste;mérci pour la vidéo👍🤘🤘
Very nice and great music
Blackmore's finest hour. No question whatsoever. A mad as f*** staggeringly talented enigma.

You weren't ready for that solo!
This Song is a whole Universe...Stargazer, Dio, Blackmore, Powell... Rainbow 🌈
Best Rock n Roll Song ever!
Pleaase please please do the second part of the song pair: A Light In The Black. It is every bit as epic as part one (Stargazer).

Nice Chanel, Ritchie Blackmore are guitar player funder Deep Purple (Burn remember?) amazing and best riffmaker”s of RnR
That is not an official film clip btw..... those things never existed back then....
you can endlessly look at three things, how richie plays, how dio sings, and how a rainbow burns behind them...
sorry to break it to yall but her reactions definitely say she's heard this before. how she groves to the change before it happens and tbh not as much enthusiasm for this being her first time.
Rock’s greatest coda ‼️
