No auto tune back then , pure talent
That vocalist is Ronnie James Dio, the GOAT of metal vocalists, the man who brought Black Sabbath back from the dead then went onto front his solo band 'Dio' to much success in the 1980's-1990's. The vocals on this man were unreal, he could and did sing every genre flawlessly and wrote epic lyrics, always meant to make you think and fit your thoughts. You shoukd do a lot more research into Rainbow 1974-1977, Dio left after thst, became a different band, bit he went onto make Black Sabbath a much better band. Check out Rainbow, live in Munich 1977, 'Man on the Silver Mountain' (14:45 ?min long version). So sad bands no longer have this kind of talent
Oh, some bands definitely do. They are however trickier to track down, because it isn't this amount of talent that gets you noticed these days. It also helps to live in any country that's not the US, since the US seems to have long since decided this music to be a thing of the past, despite never-ceasing evidence to the contrary.
mistreated
Ronnie James Dio is my favorite rock vocalist of all time and it's not even close. He was magic with his vocals. RIP
The. Best!
Great reaction!
Dio's lyrics were always a bit Dungeon's and Dragon's mythical, making them hard to get the gist of his song writing. However, the real meaning, nearly always relate to something in everyday life or his life
Stargazer talk's of a wizard and his disciples, but is much deeper than that.
It's ultimately a warning about putting too much faith in someone, following them blindly as such, only to be let down by false promises, lies etc. You could relate it to religious, political, business leaders or just someone close to you..
Man… that voice. Ronnie was truly one of a kind. Keep broadening your musical horizons, Flawd!
Ritchie Black more is one of the best guitar players, ever. He led Deep Purple with his riffs including writing g what is the most recognizable one in rock history.
Tip 3 in the world. Mount Rushmore guitarist
Mount Rushmore for sure because his head really was inflated!
Blackmore's mind was inflated by his heart and everything in between! 😉
Blackmoor, Iomi, Nugent, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Billy Gibbons, My top 5 best ever.
"All eyes see the figure of the wizard
As he climbs to the top of the world
No sound, as he falls instead of rising
Time standing still, then there's blood on the sand"
Richie & Ronnie at their best. Epic guitar solo & vocals
One of the best compositions of an epic classic every made. Rainbow remains after 40+ years as my favorite band. Check out the songs "Mistreated" and "Catch the Rainbow" from the 1977 Munich concert, just magical.
Helluva song. I remember buying this album the day it was released. R.I.P. Ronnie James Dio
One of the great Rock Epics, this is Rainbow at its best, Blackmore, Dio and Cozy Powell killing his drums are off the charts magnificent! For more, do their live treatment of Deep Purple's Mistreated, Dio is great as always on vocals in a heavy blues rock setting, and Blackmore goes off. Enjoy! 🎵🎸🎤🎹🎶
It doesn't matter how good Dio is, Mistreated belongs to Coverdale.
@@RushfanUK I saw that Deep Purple twice, they were great, see them live at the California Jam 1974 for a stellar set.
"How you do this with guitar? I don't know. "Richie Blackmore knows.
Classic rock by Rainbow absolutely brilliant 👍
I saw Dio over a dozen times live. Starting with Black Sabbath & then with his band Dio. Unfortunately I'm too young to have seen him with Rainbow or Elf. He is one of the greatest vocalists EVER!
Πολύτιμος nice tattoo with love off Greece the center of the world
Ritchie Blackmore, guitarist at 78 currently at the helm of his bands: reformed Rainbow and Blackmore's Night. RJD didn't need autotune technology to help his voice.
❤Hi guys awesome reaction as always.
Dio was just one of those magical voices and one of the best RIP.
Thank you for the content ❤
Ritchie Blackmore is a wizard on a 🎸 ❤
loving the cold starts to these reaction cuts
Dio is definitely the top metal vocalists of all time. He’s your favourite singers favourite singer when it comes to this stuff. Do “Heaven and Hell” by Black Sabbath. During his short stint with them while Ozzy left, he delivered immaculately as usual. This is a man who sang professionally, mostly in metal and hard rock songs, for 50+ years up until his death from cancer. He was great until the day he was taken from us. Voice remained fantastic his entire life.
The music and voice is so high level and very strong
Dio always said he didn't like to explain songs because it was more rewarding having others find their own meanings.
Don't see bands like Richie Blackmores' Rainbow anymore. Truly a formation of the greatest artists ever.
It's a long song but it tells a complete story, and Ronnie, holy smokes what a voice
I had the pleasure of seeing RJD 4x. Once with Rainbow, twice as a soloist and once with Black Sabbath
Lucky 😭
Wow do I envy you
@youbigmaad5753 the only good thing about being old. I got to see all the good bands
I so love that Rainbow line-up... Dio with his voice like no other, Blackmore with his out of this world riffs and solos, and Cozy Powell being power incarnate behind his drumkit... Sheer talent
Another band I saw live in 76 with this line up of Ronnie, Ritchie, Don and Cozy.
One of the best songs ever!! It's Epic...Ronnie is one if not the greatest metal singers
Dio had a lot of fantasy / 'dungeons n dragons' stuff in his writing.
A lot of it is code.
The sequel to this song is entitled 'A Light in the Black' Off the same record....
M a s t e r p i e c e ! 😍
The song is deeper than the literal story of the song.
A masterclass in perfection in vocal and music ability by all .
Dio. Just Dio. Elf, Rainbow, Black Sabbath, and his band Dio... Just epic.
The song is conveyed from the perspective of a cult follower, who along with countless others believes in a charlatan who professes to be a wizard. The cult leader, in order to continue his guise, convinces the flock to sacrifice everything to build a tower from which the wizard will prove his powers by flying. The guitar solo brings the saga to a head, where the followers are ready for the wizard to prove his mettle, and instead of making contact with a celestial body (star), the leader flops to his death. The narrator/slave snaps out of it and reckons with all he lost in the process and decides to go home to the people who actually loved him.
The song is about stupid people who follow people who use them, and get nothing for it in the long run, e.g. Heaven's Gate, Jonestown, Manson, etc.
The ending of the original movie Conan the Barbarian is similar to the lyrical substance of this song.
This is Rainbow’s Stairway to Heaven. It’s epic.
Actually Rainbow's Kashmir, according to Ritchie Blackmore.
He wrote this after hearing kashmir.
One of the only bands that can make a rainbow metal
Ronnie James Dio was the greatest lyricist , songwriter and singer of all time. This story tells of an egomaniac inslaving people to build his dream of a tower so tall that he could jump, fly and reach the stars. The peole died building it and when he jumped he of course couldn't fly, he fell to his death leaving his blood in the sand. The rain came and the rainbow appeared freeing the enslaved from his fraud. I saw this tour. It was an incredible show. Ronnie's recording career spanned 52 years from the mid 50' until his death from stomach cancer in 2010. He had a talent for telling big stories with a handful of words. His last hit in 2009 was another of my favorites "The Devil cried"
Loads of great singers
I'm here for the ROCK. Love it! Just subscribed.
Wow two “dopes” who just didnt get it ! A masterpiece by master musicians and Dio, a master singer !
🔥🔥🔥
welcome to the best singer ever in metal, hard rock one who never will be beaten Ronnie James Dio was lucky enough to meet him n lemmy n more several times over 30+ years Dio never used Autotune considering it came in what the 90s Dio was Raw Talent this is from the 1977 concerts
Richieはこの曲のCelloとViolaのパートも書いたそうです。
At the end, the wizard fails to fly and falls to his death and the people go free.
'Stargazer' was a song that Ronnie James Dio (vocals) wrote in 1976 - it was one of many lyrics he wrote from his disdain of organized religion... the concept of a 'savior' from the heavens who will deliver salvation to the masses. He felt like there were too many charlatans who become powerful and rich on the blood & bones of the people who get suckered into falsely believing that this fellow is the 'savior' who has to be served w/ no questions asked... There r a lot of metaphors in the song... 'enslavement' also refers to being obligated by false beliefs - they become the 'whips and chains' by which people are controlled.
Ronnie Dio revisited that concept when he released 'Holy Diver' in 1983 - the song was about a savior figure who ends up leaving his followers and his misguided people await his return ... "Holy Diver, you've been down too long in the midnight sea..."
Nope, lyrics based on a movie called "The Silver Chalice"
@@Dibbdroid Not likely 😈👎
@@sumonjamal1653 ok, so Cozy and Ronnie stating the fact is no match for your hypothesis? Ok
@@Dibbdroid Well, they're both dead now, so who r YOU talking about? 🙄
@@Dibbdroid Don't know where u got the info, but I can't find any quote like u claim...
So, I'm concluding that u r LYING.
Just like Sully Erna claiming that Godsmack was not named after an Alice In Chains song 😈
A MILESTONE in Hard Rock History !
ronnie james , and richie blackmore , old school ...gotta love it
Cozy Powel on drums he is a legend RIP.
It is deeper than your initial interpretation. The wizard is the system in general. We as the masses work and work and go through the motions of life (building the tower) hoping it will pay off but the wizard is a fraud he can’t fly. When the singer realizes it is too late he wants to go back home but can’t. I think it’s one of the best songs ever because the takeaway can be so different to each person. Also his voice is amazing So much power RIP to a legend
Rainbow were great. Their music, lyrics amazing. Ronnie jame Dio is one of the greatest vocalist of all time, he can sing anything and I believe he was also trained in opera at a young age. His range is incredible, mic control, stage presence, everything. Stargazer was part one of two songs, the sequel being “the light in the black” awesome, such great historic storytelling. And Ritchie on guitar as always, epic. I believe it is historically about the pyramids( tower of stone, reaching to the sky), the gods, yes Egypt was a huge influence in their music. “The gates of Babylon,” etc.
Please do the studio/album version of Heaven and Hell by Black Sabbath. Same singer, RJD. Greatest rock/metal song ever recorded.
real musicians
Everything Dio did was so majestic
The Little man with the voice of a roaring god even in his 60s with stomac cancer
High noon, oh I'd sell my soul for water
Nine years worth of breakin' my back
There's no sun in the shadow of the wizard
See how he glides, why he's lighter than air
Oh I see his face!
Where is your star?
Is it far, is it far, is it far?
When do we leave?
I believe, yes, I believe
In the heat and the rain
With whips and chains
To see him fly
So many die
We build a tower of stone
With our flesh and bone
Just to see him fly
But don't know why
Now where do we go?
Hot wind, moving fast across the desert
We feel that our time has arrived
The world spins, while we put his dream together
A tower of stone to take him straight to the sky
Oh I see his face!
Where is your star?
Is it far, is it far, is it far?
When do we leave?
Hey, I believe, I believe
In the heat and the rain
With whips and chains
Just to see him fly
Too many die
We build a tower of stone
With our flesh and bone
To see him fly
But we don't know why
Ooh, now where do we go
All eyes see the figure of the wizard
As he climbs to the top of the world
No sound, as he falls instead of rising
Time standing still, then there's blood on the sand
Oh I see his face!
Where was your star?
Was it far, was it far
When did we leave?
We believed, we believed, we believed
In heat and rain
With the whips and chains
To see him fly
So many died
We built a tower of stone
With our flesh and bone
To see him fly
But why
In all the rain
With all the chains
Did so many die
Just to see him fly
Look at my flesh and bone
Now, look, look, look, look,
Look at his tower of stone
I see a rainbow rising
Look there, on the horizon
And I'm coming home, I'm coming home, I'm coming home
Time is standing still
He gave back my will
Ooh ooh ooh ooh
Going home
I'm going home
My eyes are bleeding
And my heart is leaving here
But it's not home
But it's not home
Ooh
Take me back
He gave me back my will
Ooh ooh ooh ooh
Going home
I'm going home
My eyes are bleeding
And my heart is leaving here
But it's not home
But it's not home
Ooh
Take me back, take me back
Back to my home ooh, ooh, ooh
He goes way back , awesome man.
I have many favorite singers but Ronnie will always be miles ahead of the second one. an unreal master both in performances and in writing texts. I will love him until my last day.
❤LOVE❤You guys are "FIRE"!❤Loving these videos!!❤
this is one of the best albums ever this song is about a wiizard who thought he could fly so he made the village people to build a tower of course he fell to his death...rainbow are english and so am i....i know you like dio and he is american
Dio always told a story with his lyrics
Ronnie James Dio i wanna thank your voice because it has been....is..will be part of my life.......a beautiful part!
Well, like in a lot of 70s Hard Rock bands, the lyrics were heavily influenced by J.R.R. Tolkien and other fantasy literature. It gave us a decent escape from the grim present of a cold war, declining economies and dirty industrial cities...
The GOTG soundtracks will also feature good time songs that were composed and recorded during that period...
A f'n masterpiece
Nik Kershaw did a song called The Riddle and used random lyrics as place holders until he wrote proper lyrics for it, he ended up releasing it as a single as it was and for years people tried to work out what it meant, hilarious!
It is deep. The wizard tries to fly and falls straight to the ground. Think of the people who died needlessly in the Jim Jones cult or that Heaven's Gate cult. It's what happens when people abandon rationality and get taken in by charismatic charlatans and all manner of woo.
I thought it was about the Tower of Babel too. King Nimrod used slaves to build the tower.
Street of dreams , since you've been gone, I surrender
Sweet leaf by black sabbath !
HI FROM SHEFFIELD YORKSHIRE ENGLAND THERE AS BEEN SEVERAL CHANGES IN THE BAND OVER THE YEARS BUT DEO ON VOCALS COZY POWEL ON DRUMS
and again real music
real music
If you haven't, check out his song catch the rainbow, and "I". Just inject Dio into your veins, it's honestly better than anything else. After that check out Devin Townsend.
No auto fake here!!
Sing me a Song You're a SINGER 🎶😘👌
Great reaction, guys! RJD was the best metal vocalist ever (RIP, Ronnie)! If you have not checked out Deep Purple yet (Blackmore's original band), that is a must! Then, of course, some of Ronnie's other bands (Black Sabbath, Elf and of course, his solo stuff)! Rock On!!
yes, I always get middle eastern vibes from this. Slaves building a tower for no apparent reason.
Noice react 🤘
This song reminds me of an Archon Overlord, (in Greek a Ruler or Authority).
How do you do that on guitar
With practice, of course, being a prodigy helps.
You guys should check out the Rainbow track LA Connection. Its a banger with an epic guitar riff and sublime vocals.
Follow Flawd on Rumble for the livestreams! rumble.com/c/FlawdTV
And it was done in one take from what I have heard
RICHIE BLACKMORE ON GUITAR IS BY FAR THE BEST LINE UP
Its a wizard!!!!! PERFECT!!!!
This is 1976,no auto tune at that time, pure analog sound.
I used to crank this record out my window as a kid to my neighbors dismay while drinking beer.
Talking about auto tune while referring to anything Ronnie James dio is pure ignorance 8:21
You're not wrong for seeing the biblical symbolism, Dio grew up catholic.
Gate's of Babylon just as good 😊
🤘
Check out Heaven and hell by Black Sabbath. It's another Dio track
Wizards are like politicians. They use words to manipulate reality.
Reminds me of high school in the 80s New Hampshire
It's just a song about slaves, working for a master, and master has them building a tower, so master dude can fly away and join the angels, or some s*** like that...then the idiot "wizard" just falls to his death once he jumps from the tower, the slaves left in wonderment and disbelief, what do they do next? Leave Babylon, of course...it's a genuine tale, and one that has been told before.
Ritchie the Goat
I’ve taken it always as a warning of false prophets.
This bands name and logo has no connection to the alphabet group.
still is real music
PANTERA “mouth for war”
You can't convince me that Dio didn't play D&D...
Awesome! Now do R.E.M. - Leave. Trust me on this one.
please check Dio - Heaven and Hell and Don´t talk to strangers (if you can find live versions even better) :)
No way! Seeing reactors go to one of the live versions of Heaven & Hell instead of the studio version is the most depressing thing I ever see on UA-cam, lol. There is no live version here that even comes close yo the original.
@@MrCBTman hahah all right then , didn't know 😅
San Antonio , Texas 🌞😉
