Seems like a beauty to fly. A mini airliner!
I can't believe this plane was made in 1976. The ride seems so quiet and effortless....all the power you would need....thumbs up!
Truly the Golden Age of General Aviation. When I was a young lad, my uncle got bit w/ the flying bug, set me dwn the road to getting my A&P. I went to work for a major helicopter manufacturer, been at it for 45 years. However I live in an expensive place, got married and divorced (maybe Aviation Induced Divorce Syndrome, [AIDS]) so I never was able to afford an airplane. These channels remind me of the days of reading Flying Magazine & hanging out at the airport. Great stuff.
It's unfortunate that some kids today don't realize how great they have it when they grow up in a flying household. As private pilot myself I wish I had that growing up.
I flew with dad and his associates many times and loved every moment. Never took it for granted. Navion and 310d mostly. Miss those days and times.
I grew up with a totally different experience. My dad was a pilot with United for thirty-six years, and I grew up riding in airliners a lot, in the days when kids got to go and sit in the cockpit for awhile. He never owned a plane himself, and only once did he ever rent one. That was when my newly married uncle and aunt came to visit in 1962, and dad took us for a ride around Los Angeles in a rented Bonanza.
I wanted to join the Air Force myself, but my eyes got progressively worse starting at age 10, my life took a completely different turn and I've never learned to fly.
Hi - are you Mike B from SA by any chance??
Yeah, those kids need to be spanked
@@danielprinsloo2917 No. Sorry.
Fun video. Loved the exterior in-flight views. For those of us who have never been in a Cessna 340 it would have been nice if you had given us a tour of the interior.
David Clay I do wish this Chanel would show you video of the aircraft... maybe instead of showing the owner talking play clips of interior and exterior shots while the guy is talking?
Gonna be honest, not much in the cabin of the 340. Got an opportunity to fly co pilot for the school I go to and really there was just a couple seats on rails that you can change some of the configuration of and some foldable tables in the back.

Take a look at my channel - lots of videos inside and out.
The correct answer to “do you want to do one more” is always yes
Nice plane and loved the description of it, his flying history and the pros and cons of the plane. Thanks for taking us and your plethora of GoPro cameras along.
Awesome video. I was the very first Line Service Attendant hired at Sundance back in 1984. Good memories.
The sound of those engines bring back some fond memories. Cessna twin has a distinctive sound.
Great video, loved the camera on the tail shots. I still feel better on the ground
That paint job took me back decades. Then hearing the run-up took me back further! Thanks.
Another great episode Bobby; this guy Dave is very focused you can tell he is a commercial pilot with a lot of experience; he is talking to you but he is on his game the whole time; I have been in the little jets 6 and 8 seaters and I hate when they bank the planes coming in for a landing at some of these lesser known Canadian airstrips; you would swear they were bush pilots
Another good one. Lovely plane. Every pilot has a story. Mom and Dad do we have to fly is a great one.
I've heard from a bunch of people that the love of flying skips a generation but who knows. In my family it's pretty scattered and I can't make heads or tails of it. You're right about the stories though, they're all cool.
That plane looked like a joy to fly in....thanks for sharing.
Imagine being a kid that's not impressed by flying in your own plane lol
I have always loved the 340. Ever since I worked at an FBO in the 80’s, while building time, I just really liked the look of this airplane. Such a perfect balance of size and power and pressurized. It’s a shame there aren’t more of these flying. Plenty of 310’s and 414’s, but not many 340’s. Thanks for highlighting two of these here on your channel ! Safe skies ! 🛫
Compared to all other twin-piston, I think 340A is probably the best-balanced design.
@@yangzhao4433 I might agree with you on that. I had a few hours in a 421, but there is just something unique about the 340. Balanced is a good word.
340 is my favorite A/C other than the 414 this coming from a G/A mechanic of 40 years thanks for a great vid
Subscribed! The tail exterior camera shots are cool, nice interview too.
What a great plane! Love the tail shots. Also, when he started talking to the tower he sounded like a pro. It's funny the little differences you pick up in peoples voices. Keep the vids coming!
He is a pro 😆
I flew a 1982 340A for about 10 years and loved it, except when I got an expensive maintenance surprise. Same experience travelling with our kids - bored on long trips and usually decide to act up during an IMC approach. The look back at on those days fondly now however. Great video
Yeah I bet those were some good times!
Enjoyed watching your attention to the instrument panel during the flight. You are obviously a serious pilot.
flying demands your full attention to be a good one
The Twin Sessna is one of the most beautiful airplane on the planet. Timeless design.
Very enjoyable video. Not a lot of unnecessary chatter just aviation. Nice.
Really enjoyed this video, as a CFI myself I really enjoyed seeing you fly again. I could see your eye movements checking things like you would have before your new life. I could tell you really miss it. I would love to take you up and have you fly me whenever you find yourself in the Mid-West. Blue skies and tailwinds!
The Cessna 340 is a very nice flying airplane with the added feature of the pressurisation,it looks so sleek too, that was a very nice approach and landing that you made there,I hope the 340 serves you and your family for a long time.
C340 Multicam Class 👍🍀 Great Video and nice aircraft! 20 years ago you have heared this iconic piston twin sound every mornig in our area in Germany, today this type of aircraft is rare.
Nice plane. Really liked the belly cam showing the landing gear operating.
It’s relaxing to watch a great pilot!
I guess it all depends on your mission. I’ve been flying Part 121 for 30 years, Metroliner to 747-8 currently and on my days off I want to fly taildraggers and into bush strips. Sold my Experimental Cub and now fly Cessna 206 with big tires, into Idaho, Montana and Utah.
Love the twin Cessna family. Flew the tuna tank 310, the newer 310s, short nose 401, long nose 402, and the 421B and 421C. Nice video!
I always liked teaching multi engine in j and k mod 310..fun
Enjoyed the video. Great memories of my time getting my license and owning a C-150 until family priorities move flying to the back burner.
I flew the CE-340 out of Silver City, NM for a couple of years, I loved those airplanes. Did a lot of air attack for the US Forest Service, the USFS staff loved riding in the 340 because it was air conditioned and pressurized, made spending eight hours a day flying over a fire much more comfortable.
As an A&P, I worked a lot of 310, 340, 402 early in my career. I had forgotten about the purr of Cessna twins. Takes me back.
I love this series. I don't even miss the lack of dos chi chis. Keep up the good work!
Love that view from the tail. Very unique perspective .
Incredible channel sir I appreciate you sharing this to us!. Can I suggest interior tours on all the planes you go in. Cheers
"Wanna do one more?"
The only answer to that is yes!
LJDRVR I was JUST about to comment that
Him: Meh, thats alright ..
Me: Liked, Subscribed
He didn't seems as comfortable/relaxed as other flights.
@@reinhart482 I was thinking the same thing. Looked like a nice landing though.
Back in the 70s I worked as a trainee aircraft fitter, I used to look after one of these belonging to the Linde group, it is my 2nd favourite civilian aircraft. Gorgeous!
I loved that tail camera view...
Love the old cabin class Cessna twins. Got the opportunity to fly a turbine 421 from Boston Ma to Huntsville AL about 12 yrs ago. Couldn’t get over how smooth a flyer it was.
A turbine 421? Was that an upgrade?
This was a very nice relaxing flight Bobby.
Beautiful aircraft, thanks for the flight! 👌🏾
Great video and enjoyed the pilot story. Keep these videos coming. It helps to build the case for more General Aviation participation. Stay safe!!
Really liked the tail mounted camera!
Always a cool shot!
Got m first multi hour in a 340! I am in love with them!
Thanks again for the twin cessna show
Loved the sound of the continentals guessing?
I can overshoot final better than anyone I know. I never got to fly a 340, but I have a fair amount of time in an old 335, the non-pressurized version of the 340. Great airplane. Great video.
SteveD328 (
Another great video sir. Awesome twin the 340 is.
Got a lot of time in the 340 when I worked for a dealer at Tri-cities Airport in Endicott NY in the 70's flying 135.,good airplane and they were new and for sale then . Look into the gross weight and figure out why. Performance graphs are interesting also. Good aircraft ! It never let me down. I was watching for your engine cooling technique , good job!
Great landing Dave 👏
How can anybody "Not Like" this, is beyond me.
I have several thousand hours in two separate C340s Great flight. Excellent pilot. I did notice a maintenance issue the landing lights are not retracting.
My favorite channel on YT! Keep it up!
You're looking a little frazzled my friend .. love the twins, love em !!!
I love the way this type of Cessna looks. Big nosed and awesome
Beautiful plane, and nice landing!
Great landing, right on the center line 👏
Takes off from Three-Five, lands on Three Six.. Nice job Captain!
Most interesting. Well done Bobby
Always liked the 335/340's. My father had a335 when I was younger. The Navajo we have now is just slightly larger but not pressurized.
Glad you are enjoy "my" airplane. I was an electrical crew chief for Cessna back in the seventies. May have set up the autopilot in-air on your plane. Back in those days the test pilots took a parachute on a bird's first flight and a sparky on the second flight to set up the autopilot. We were in effect flying the airplane with a screwdriver on the actuator feedback pots. Fun times!
the 360 is simply the definition of airplane. i love her so much. what a plane
-“Was it expensive to change out the Pioneer deck for the Kenwood (🤷🏻♂️)?
-“Not really. It was like 5 grand.”
That just reminded me of how broke I am. 😔
For real. Different life choices should have been made.
Learn options - you can make that in one day!
Pretty sure you can lose it as well
Tmobile Customer It’s not as easy as it sounds. If it is, please enlighten us all, as we’d ALL like a few different options.
@Alebert Ledesma I'm glad I'm not the only one that thought that
Hey Dave, great video!
Nice aircraft. Enjoyed intro & plane history.
Excellent video
Really loving your videos man!
I remember flying C-340's back in the late 1970's, FL 200 & FL210, 210 Knots TAS & 32 GPH
beautiful landing
Great plane, and an excellent video
Nice to see a plane that still has it's original panel. Glass is nice but I hate all the vacant space that often comes with it. I have a bunch of time in C310s, would love to have flown the c340.
I feaking love the twin cessnas or any twin as far as planes go. Great vid as usual Bobby. Can't wait for the next one. Will you be anywhere close to Kentucky in future vids?
Twin Cessna great airplane, loved my 78 T310R A second 340 for parts? Must be his own A&P and IA for sign offs.
Well done! Nicely flown! And your kids will get the flying bug...especially after they take one of those long, traffic-clogged road trips.
I’m glad the owner went thru the cool down upon landing to save those engines. I have pulled plenty of those continental TSIO-520 for owners who just didn’t get it. Not to mention how to properly lean them. Avgas and oil are cheap compared to the price of an engine on the wing.
Have a ton of time in 340's great plane as is the 414!
Nicely done video. For some reason, you don't see many 340's on the Tube. Mostly 310's which are nice but the 340 is the airplane you want to be in for flights of any duration. Nothing like the turbo performance and comfort provided in addition to being pressurized so you have tremendous flexibility as far as altitude selection.
I noticed that as well, so started making videos with the 340A to spread the Twin Cessna love!
"It's nice and quiet in here."
"Well, you know, the engines are out there..."
Great video! Of all the Cessna twins I had the fortune to fly the 340 was the one I wanted most and never got the chance. It's such a beautiful looking airplane. Tail mount camera was outstanding! Sundance is a very nice airport to operate out of too. I thought I recognized your passenger... Thanks for posting. Which model Lear are you flying?
Bob, favorite plane so far? With no disrespect to the others. I am guessing the SR22. Thanks for another great video. Cirrus Vision jet episode and a ride in the Draco bush plane would be awesome. Salud!
Superb video, superior... I'm subscribed!
That was a helluva landing.
As much as I am terrified of heights my dreams is to always have my own plane 😂💯
Nice video. I'd love to see you find a Skymaster to take for a spin.
I watch a lot of flying videos. First one that I can think of where I've seen my home field. In fact it looks like he's a hangar row over from me. I'll sub just for that!
Hey awesome... let’s go fly!
@@FlyingDoodles I'm wrapping up my RV-10 project. Will be flying next month!
The 70’s was a good time for general aviation!!!
can't get enough of that twin-engine piston sounds
Thanks for the videos. I’m curious if you could get into discussions on ballpark prices for the planes you review. Purchase an operating cost. I’m sure I could look it up but it would be interesting to hear from owners on what the average is they spend on maintaining and flying the planes.
Beautiful plane, great pilot‼️🛩
Thanks for the memories! I probably flue in that airplane on its second test flight. At the time I was a flight electrician for Cessna. Test pilots took a parachute on the first flight and an electrician on the second flight to set up the autopilot analogue computer. I suspect that the autopilot has subsequently been upgraded. I actually hated working under the instrument panel on the 340 because it was so cramped but they were fun to fly in.
Great video!
This feels surreal...same model of cessna 340 just crashed in a mountain near the town I lived. All passengers dead. May they all rest in peace.
One word… Smooth!
What a beast! I enjoyed that :)
Thanks guys.
Excellent moi!!💪✈️💫🌠⭐
Good video good aircraft
I know he said that he was a professional pilot, but still, his radio communications seemed so natural for him. I'd like mine to be similar someday! 🙂👍🏼👍🏼
Dude, seriously, where do you find the time to make all these videos? Boats, planes, Rvs.... IMPRESSED!
Give me the money; the time I’ll find!
Great video I was thinking of getting into a 340 vs a baron. There is more room for sure in the 340 and it is less costly than a 421. Lol the over shoot to final I have been there done that, it happens to the best of us. Cheers fellow aviator!
What plane do you think is better? Baron,421,340
Such a beautiful machine.
