I'm very satisfied with this TTArtisan lens. It's an ideal choice for those who want something portable. The lens is so small and light that you can take it anywhere. The image quality is excellent. The sharpness and color make my photos look really good. And the lens has a unique charm with the vignetting and swirl. As for autofocus, it is reliable, and the aperture ring with its good tactile feel is a plus. It's also useful for shooting close-up shots with nice bokeh for portraits.
I very much enjoy street shooting with this lens, wide open, on my X-Pro1. The falloff* in the corners and the somewhat reduced depth of field produce a lovely, vintage-y look that I find quite pleasing. On brighter days I use a 39mm?-49mm step-up ring and a 49mm ND8 neutral density filter to allow keeping the lens at f2.8. *(I’m sticking to the older terminology I learned in the 1970s: Back then I was taught that vignetting was something blocking light around the edges, such as a too-narrow lens hood on a wide-angle lens, while falloff was from the circular image produced by the lens not being large enough to evenly illuminate the image area. Here endeth the stodgy old-fogey photographer’s lesson. 😊)
Probably the best value photographic purchase I've ever made! Limitations are the vignette at wider apertures but sometimes the vignette is desirable such as in portraits and close up floral photography, which are probably the situations you would artificially add a vignette to anyway. Even if you don't like it it is very easy to remove in most image editors. It is prone to flare in certain situations but a moment to recompose can deal with that, a decent lens hood is also advisable. Otherwise it is a very sharp lens with an unique subtle colour rendition especially when stopped down a bit. Even though I have had this lens for over a year now I still find myself amazed at the quality of the images it produces and sometimes I prefer it to the Fujinon XC 35mm f2 which is very highly rated. In real terms I think it is about 85 to 90% as good as the Fuji 27mm for a fraction of the price.
Wonderful job on this video! I was really struggling with deciding between the fuji 27mm and TT artisan, you made it wonderfully clear what this lens offers and what not to expect of it. As you said, sometimes it's liberating not to chase perfection for perfection's sake, a clinically clean and perfect photo might not be for some of us. I've tried TT's other manual X mount lenses and they are a joy to use. Looking forward to purchasing this one!
Yet to receive it on Sony for street photo mainly. I almost always add vignette to my pics in Lightroom. So that's a big plus for me. Saves time. The portability & price was key in the purchase decision. Inconspicuous & unobtrusive. Plus my Lightroom library shows I quite enjoy the focal range of about 30mm after 50mm. Let's hope quality control is good and firmware update goes smoothly.
I've been using it on my XT30ii and ive really been enjoying it. The only issue is the vignetting but thats not too much of a bother since i have lightroom and is easily correctable. The autofocus is super sharp and adjusting to f4 seems to also decrease vignetting. For how cheap it is, its perfect.
My only complaints with this lens is the vignetting and the fact that as a Mac user I can't upgrade the software. But it's hard to argue with the price. Flare is also an issue but some people like that. I hear the vignetting is better without the hood, I'll have to try that. For street (where technical perfection is not important, IMO), it's a solid option.

I find that glass cleaner works well on my Dura Silver, so I tend to include it in the bundle of iphone and iPad screen cleanups

How is fast paced photography in eletric shutter mode? Ive heard the sensor readout speed is still as terrible as the Z6ii.
