I’ve been using the recent Fuji 18 to 120 with really good results on a recent three day trip. It works really nicely with the XH2S. It’s very lightweight, has a good zoom range and good auto focus . That paired with the Viltrox 13 mm 1.4.
If you're still looking for a lens and want an alternative to the Fuji 18-55, I'd recommend a Sigma 18-50mm. Its sharp, constant aperture and smaller. It's affordable compared to other lenses.
You are right with the „curve ball“ 👍🏻. The 16-55 2.8 MkII is what we in Germany call an „egg-laying wool-milk sow“. This means that you get everything you need in one device. I have preorderd it 😊.
Tried a lot of lenses for video - by far the 18-120 smashes them all. Amazing zoom range, it is a little bit long, but the thing that surprises you is how light it is. And then of course for video, you get the smoothest of zooms with no loss of focus while zooming. It now sits on my camera most of the time - the only other lens I take with me is the 23mm F2 which can fit in my pocket, or transform my camera into something very portable for example at night where the F2 helps.
Tamron 17-70 has been excellent for me. Great Image quality, image stabilisation, autofocus has been great and the weight is not bad given the features.
Used both the 18-55 and the 16-55. The 16-55 is great with constant F2.8 aperture and 2mm wider, but for traveling it’s just way to heavy and bulky. Used it daily over months with the XT4 and the whole setup is just massive. The 16-55 MII looks good, but still I would lean to the Sigma 18-50 because it’s smaller and lighter, especially with the XS20 which I use now. For wide angle I have the Viltrox 13mm F1.4, because both 16mm and 18mm are not wide enough for lots of my use cases.
For a year now, I’ve been using the 18-35 1.8 with the Fringer Pro III on the X-T5 for event photography and other shoots. I’m extremely satisfied. So much so that I also got the 50-100 1.8 SIGMA ART. These are APS-H lenses, so they perform really well even on a 40MP sensor. I replaced the 18 1.4, 23 1.4, and 33 1.4 with just one lens. I still have the primes, but I hardly use them anymore. I wonder why Fujifilm doesn't make a lens like this. Even if it weighed 1kg, I would buy it right away. Viltrox mentioned a zoom lens in 2024, which was then not made and postponed. I really hope that, given the quality of the 27 1.2 and 75 1.2 PRO, they go ahead and make it themselves if Fuji has no plans to do so. With its expertise in photographic lenses, Fuji could create a masterpiece. They’ve reduced the 16-55 2.8 by 37%... with that 37%, they could easily make a lens like the 18-35 1.8 (even 1.4 if they wanted to).
I really wanted the mkII to being OIS as well, or internal zooming (like the 50-140). But I think if I got it I would still have a hard time taking off my Sigma 18-35. The only con I have for the Sigma 18-35+Fringer adapter, is that AF.C custom settings do not take or hold. That's for me is the biggest problem, all AF transitions are harsh and quick in video. I can cope with the bulk and weight for jobs, but it loses points on AF versatility. What I really want is Fuji to make a 14-30/2, or 2.8. That would be my dream zoom lens for X mount.
@@tobiascrow2792 I don't agree, I use the 18-55 on about all my video work, including corporate, without feeling 'amateurish' or something. But for low-light shots or specific creative effects, I use my primes.
What lens do you use for video?

Kit lens for life!

Hahaha excellent. I’m using that instead now
I have the kit lens and the 16-55mm, and I'm definitely thinking of selling the MkI for the MkII, especially because of the weight!

Excited about their new kit lens, the 16-50. Internal focus, weathersealed.

Yeah all fair cases!

Waiting for the Sigma 18-50mm f/2.8 for my X-S20. Hope this will make things lighter and easier to bring along instead of the Sigma 18-35 f/1.8 😄
Oh for sure it will
Tamron 17-70 for Video 👍
Finally the 16-55 mark 1 will be much cheaper, I used it a while ago, it is a fantastic lens!
16-55 all the way for Video... but always have been interested in the very famous Sigma 1.8... Really cheap nowadays 2nd hand
I actually like the extra weight for video on the 16-55 mk1 and I'm not ready to shell out 1300€ yet 😅
That’s really fair
Anybody know what the best Fuji lens is for low-light videography?
I’d say the sigma 18-35 is pretty good. It’s what I use
Another curved ball - 18-120 f4 PZ?
The old kit lens is all what you need. 18-55
Yeah I’d say
@@Jay_Ducker No... the variable aperture is just too amateur.. no problem if you are, but you need a constant 2.8 for more professional work...

Best lens for Fuji video is any Lens fitted to a Sony Camera
