    The electrical component you were referring to is some type of thermal switch when the coil overheats this disengages the connection.

      I am not sure but yes that could be it.

      Since it is a DC motor, very likely they are diodes. i've seen thermal fuses in transformers, never in motors. But I could be wrong.

    I have very similar one but runs on 220v, it has two wires connected to the outlet and three wires that go to the switch. One is supply wire and other two are used for slow and fast speeds.

    Dear Mr Electron, thank you so much for your valuable review. But I have a vacuum cleaner motors and could I use them in DIY projects for table saw, sander, drills... if so would you forward your help regarding the how to do steps and guide please. Thank you...

      have you made anything with universel motor ? i was thinking of making drill and saw is it possible ? and dose this needs any capacitor?

    Good video This motor has good torque at starting but speed will go down by increasing the load

      I think that shunt motor[parallel] has stable speed with increasing the load@@MrElectron

    • @MrElectron
      @MrElectron  6 років тому +1

      Dc motors have the maximum torque (starting, running & full load) followed by the universal motors. So yes shunt motors perform better than universal motors but shunt motors also slow down with increasing speed.

      Are you talking about ac shunt or dc ?

    As long as those 2 devices, strapped to the field windings are ok, there is no need to bypass them. In any case, there is no practical use in trying to run this motor at such a low voltage. And lastly, in terms of effeciency, this motor is not very good. It is preferred because it has good torque vs it's size and therefore is a good choice where space is limited.

      ''there is no practical use in trying to run this motor at such a low voltage'' maybe for some rc stuff when trying to go low cost, since they seem to have larger torque than normal dc motors of similar size maybe? i could be wrong

    What will be the reading on the multimeter if we measure the red wire with grey? Or the red and the black

    what are you talking about? Murphy's law is about "Anything that can go wrong will go wrong". It means that if there is small chance that something will go wrong, this will happened.

    If that's a mains voltage motor the current draw will kill the power supply as the voltage is to low.Also won't have any torque at all.Only good for testing but that's all

    I have seen your videos and really It will help to solve the issue of how to run the universal motors. I need your help or a video to run a 110V drilling machine either in the dc or in the AC; one of my friend gifted a 110V drill which I wanted to use. Will you please help me in this.

    Hi sir. Am trying to wind a field coil of a small Universal motor of Vaccum cleaner of 1000 watts(Yureka forbs trendy nano brand) I am confused in terms of number of copper rotation for coils. Can you tell me Usually how many copper rotations to be made for one side coil?

    • @nitroboom1282
      @nitroboom1282 Рік тому +1

      Just measure the resistance from the windings only the more resistance the more winding there are for high speed low torque find the lowest resistance and for high torque low speed find the windings which have the most resistance and make sure you use the same resistance on each side. Also try to wire the thermostat or thermal fuse in series to power and quick tip you can run the windings on a different supply than the armature or rotor weather if it’s ac or dc just make sure that if you run them on ac run them on the same frequency it doesn’t matter about the Voltage and if you run the field windings on ac run the armature on ac and same goes to dc

      There is an equation that you can google that will tell you the ideal voltage after you fill in the resistance in ohms, whether you’re wanting to use AC or DC, the type of motor, and possibly one other factor out of a few choices.

    is it possible to change rotor speed by using dimmer ?

    • @britttullos8119
      @britttullos8119 3 місяці тому

      Yes. You can actually power the 2 windings separately with full power, and then control the speed of the rotor by adjusting the dimmer switch which would be supplying the brushes. You can change the direction of the rotors also by swapping the 2 connections to the brushes.
