gotta say you are probably my favourite channel right now. I'm surprised every one of your podcasts don't have more listeners. It's entertaining and brilliant at the same time. Keep it up :)
My main problem with this video (and the next in the series on Adam Smith) is it doesn't end with a brief critique of Adam Smith's ideas. I think point/counter-point (e.g. dialectics, Fichte's idea of "thesis, antithesis, synthesis") is a good ideal to embrace when learning or educating others. Thankfully, although I did have to sift through a lot of videos to find it, this channel does offer a counterpoint in video 81 (Communism vs Capitalism).
@@brianmaswanganye7039 yup, check out everyone who thinks Electric cars are the future. Not thinking of the cobalt. Wheres does that stuff come from aside from Nevada ? ( Congo, Chili, etc )
Wtf was with that story with the bar tender? Why would that be so embarrassing, especially if in your eyes the guy didn't understand you. You acted like he was kind of dumb right? In a sort of elitist way. That's what you should be embarrassed about, because judging from the guys response, be totally did get it. You were talking about how you live in a time where you have all these amazing things at your disposal compared with people in the past. His response was yeah, and compared to other countries as well. There are countries where you could go and live even more like a king with just a small amount of money. It sounds to me like he did get it, and that ruined your moment of happiness somehow? Lol. That dude was indeed a philosopher in his own right.
Saying you could live like a king in another country is completely missing the point. The initial point was that the average person lives like a king compared temporally to real kings. Living like a king in a poor country is a generic view that is probably misguided. I thought the dude was asking for a plug.

I'm four years late but I'm so happy to discover this channel. Slowly making up for lost time.

First five minutes and I am so hooked.
The story about the sports bar was absolutely hilarious. Great episode
that's the fundamental reason that people ought to live in a free society
Enjoy your show
Some Bartenders are basically philosophers
As a king you can punish losing side. So there is still self-interest to train and to win.
That EVIL Capitalism, how dare it give us better quality lives. Love your show and your analogies are even better
Depends which side of the fence you are on..
