Volvo was absolutely miles ahead of everyone else in safety. They saved so many lives.
they absolutle are love volvo they are built to last and built to hold the extreams see the old 2/7 series they never die
No, ist was Mercedes Benz who was ahead of everyone else bevore Volvo
@@heikor.4981Volvo literally had 3 point seat belts in 1959 and then didn't patent it because they wanted every car to have it
@@heikor.4981 Mercedes not long winded and also u can buy a used one cheap they not built the same as a volvo
That Volvo was a dear friend almost. All the great trips and fond memories made. She made that friendship permanent when she saved your life. Glad to see you're out of harms way, and that you've had a quick recovery my friend.
Thank you for the kind words..
Hopefully u are fine , and the nice Volvo u have to re new it .
❤❤❤😊😊😊❤❤❤
Marc, so glad you are ‘ok’ as such, cars are metal and can be repaired or replaced, you fella are irreplaceable, 1 of 1!
Take all the time you need to get yourself better and in the right frame of mind to carry on filming, if that’s what you want. Vera has done you proud.
Can’t have been an easy video to film.
Thanks Ian for the kind words 👍
Sorry about your Volvo 940 Marc so pleased you in one piece mate
Really really glad you're okay. Take as long as you need, we'll still be here when you're back full-time.
Cheers jay much appreciated.
Volvo 740 GLE saved mine and my dogs, so i believe the title just reading it !
I'm so sorry this has happened to you, it's truly heartbreaking to see your pride and joy damaged.
The main thing is you're physically OK, give yourself time to heal mentally. I hope things start to progress smoothly going forwards.
Appreciate the kind words thanks James.
Sorru to hear this mate, every car lover will feel your pain and every family will feel the gratitude that the car died to save their love one.
You will bd back stronger and im 100% sure there will be a volvo in ur future
Thanks buddy let’s hope so 👍
This feels really really weird.
Last night i had a dream where i got into an accident with my 945 turbo and i woke up feeling miserable before i realized it was all a dream.
I get my cup of coffee and get on youtube and i see this video on the front of my youtube page, and ive never watched a single vid of yours but man this one felt really strange.
Im really sorry for your 945, that ones a beauty too with that silver/gray color which i dream of having (mine's midnight blue).
Oh that’s odd isn’t it. Thanks for watching though. 👍
Was hard to watch your post but glad to hear you are physically OK. I love my Volvo V70 and my Minis and your channel. What a set back when all seemed to be going so well for you. hopefully time will ease your mental state and you will get another Volvo Estate very soon. Heartened to see how many you tubers are behind you. Keep well and I will look forward to your future videos when you can - Don't rush things.
Thanks for the kind words 👍
Wow. Extremely sorry to see a 700 go, thankful it did its job and kept you in one piece.
Just found your channel, instant sub. I can see your passion and I can't wait to see more videos dude. Glad you're not too hurt and I'm sorry that you've lost your much loved project.
Thanks really appreciate the kind words and thanks for subbing
So relieved to see you're out the other side of this physically safe and can understand you being emotionally ruined by it, there's no shame in that mate. I'm glad you were in Vera because my Panda wouldn't have let me out without serious injuries and that's modern compared to the rest of the fleet. You concentrate on you at the moment and the channel and us will be here for you no matter what.
Thanks Graeme I appreciate your comment. Don’t worry still loads of fun things coming.
😢 the trusty brick did you proud! Glad you are ok, take some time to heal dude!
Thank you 👍
Marc, Holy Sh*t !! Wow what a mess, the Main thing to take from this is that you survived!....the reality is cars are replaceable but, people aren't 😢. I too was in a serious road accident that wasn't anyone's fault many years ago and it was very frightening at the time.Time as they say is a great healer 😁 You have So many positive things happening in your life...focus on those and don't dwell on what might have been .... Onwards and upwards I say !
@@yamnut1 thank you I appreciate the kind words.
sorry to hear that your car got smashed up, This is why people say "Volvo for life"
So sorry to see and hear about this, I can see that you are still physically and emotionally effected by what has happened 😢 All I can suggest is take it easy, don't rush into doing things. UA-cam is a huge community, is there no one that could help you with the possible repair of the car ? I think we can all see how attached you are to the old girl, take it easy and keep safe ❤
Thank you Nick. Unfortunately the category that she has been written off is far to high and I am unable to do this. But she will save over cars and hopefully I can move on from all this 👍
I'm really sorry bud, I'm so glad you're ok though, take all time you need
so sad at least she kept you safe and did her job
This is very true..
Glad you're safe. You'll feel better with time, healing is a journey.
This car save you life her job came you safe she design to do that’s why I love Volvo so much I am big fan of Volvo saving life I want own Volvo and I always own a Volvo and I always driver Volvo Volvo owner for life
So very glad you're physically alright. I hope you take the time you need to cope with the changes this makes. Be well!
Thank you buddy.
This is terrible! Glad you are OK, but what a mess... I remember, very vividly, how I crashed my pride and joy Opel Monza 3.0E, many decades ago. I was 'good', insurance-wise (and helped very well), but the damage was simular. A write-off, gone were all love and care put into it.
I fully feel your pain. Take care!
Hey thanks for the kind words.
Arrr buddy, glad your safe and well mate! True testament to the build quality and safety for occupants.
I’ve had experience of these crash for cash scams, same drama, I had to fight at every stage of the process.
Thanks for the kind words buddy.
Old Volvos come and go glad your ok, had a similar thing in VW estate.
Totally gutted for you Marc and something I’ve not had to experience thankfully. Shows how strong Volvo make their cars.
Just take you time and don’t be worrying about getting content out for us. We’ll still be here.
Even doing like you did with the 89 just do what you need for your own head space. Keep safe mate.
Thanks buddy for the kind words
Glad you're okay! Take your time, I know it can he exhausting mentally. I were a victim of road rage almost 15 years ago, but the scenario still haunts me sometimes.
Thank you for the kind words.
I liked this video for the UA-cam algorithm but I don't like what happened to you or the car!
I'm glad to see that the good parts will live on in other Volvos.
That’s horrible man. I feel sorry for you. Glad you are okay, totally understand how you feel about losing your favorite car while it saved your life 🤗
Thanks for the kind words…
So gutted for you 😞 Glad you are physically ok, if not emotionally for now
Thank you
I Concur, they are a very safe vehicle. Mine also saved my life and my pregnate wife at the time from serious injury in 1994. Volvo 240 Sedan, I was stationary at lights in turning lane, when hit from rear by another car at 80km that had been clip by Truck changing lanes. Impact broke both our seats and boot was squashed into where back seat was. Wife went to Hospital for checkup and I had bad case of Whiplash.
Oh wow that’s so good that your Volvo saved multiple people. I am glad to hear everyone was ok. Awesome cars Volvos they really are
Glad you're not more badly injured Marc. I've had a few bumps in my time (I'm 71 now) and they are never easy mentally. You were probably in one of the best cars you could have been to survive that type of accident. You'll get over it believe me. ALL the insurance companies I have had dealings with over the years have left me with the same feelings you have. I could not recommend one to anybody I'm afraid. The very reason I got into restoring cars, particularly the bodywork and painting, was down to the astronomic charges that bodyshops now levy on the insurance companies and the motorist. Minor damage repair now costs so much that cars are written off for fun by the insurers. as someone has commented, just concentrate on getting yourself better, we'll all still be here.
Thanks I appreciate the kind words. Cheers for watching.
Glad ur OK buddy. Sorry about the volvo m8 that car was minted. My dad had a smash in his volvo 240 estate up Shetland years ago slid on ice and thru a train barrier. AA told him if he was driving anything else he wouldn't have got out alive. Got a big xc90 myself and it's good driving it knowing my kids will be safe. Keep ur chin up bud take it easy
Thanks for the kind words 👍
I know exactly what your saying. I bought a 1989 760 Turbo my second Volvo. The dealer loaned it to me for the weekend, Monday came back to buy it. I took the family on a local day trip to see our President Jeffersons home in Virginia and Our first Capital in Williamsburg. It rained on the way home and the 760 proved to be a fantastic road car and family hauler. Nearly 10 years later, I had moved to Atlanta, Georgia working for Siemens America trying to crack into the US Market. It was a tough job with many long days. One night, late coming home, I was so tired I just wanted to get home. I took a curvy short cut knowing the risk but just wanted to get home to my family. I approached a short left right s curve that was flat and black and i was driving too fast. my right wheels went off the road onto loose gravel. (America right side drive) I was fine just let it coast down and got back on the pavement. not too soon the edge might catch a tire. As I braked lightly the road changed to a left turn with a cross street. I started to turn the wheel left to get back on the pavement but no turning action. I cranked it more , then i popped up onto the cross street and the front wheels gripped and turned the nose hard left. The car at that time was on it own trajectory. I had lost control. The car when directly across the main road, flew over the lower ditch back and hit the high side of the ditch bank hard then went airborn, up and over a fence. All i could see was the black sky. It seemed like minutes the car came back down and crashed nose down in to hard pack pasture and bounced a few times as it rolled to a stop. No I did not my belt on. When I hit the first bank I grabbed the wheel tight and the gear shift as hard as I could and I prayed, 'Dear God Please take care of my kids.' When the dust settled the engine was still running, no head lights, I thought its a field, OK lets see if I can limp home. I tries to go forward but it could not move, so i tried reverse it started to move them bought front wheel suspension collapsed. Ok we are not driving home. I got my briefcase out of the back seat and walked around the car. The first thing i noticed in the moon light the roof of the 760 was rippled like an old wash board. The Hood was pushed back and crumped, the fender were all crumped and pushed back over the engine. The car looked like it hit a brick wall at 50 MPH or more. I had a small cut on my left left from braking the turn signal on my thigh when we first hit the ditch. (No seat belt on) I want totally unhurt, the 760 was totaled. It looked like an accordian. Folded up including the roof. I walked home and hugged my kids. I have bought and owned Volvos ever since. The car the 760 Volvo Saved my life just like you. The cars work in a crash. I also had a fender bender in my S60 AWD which insurance would NOT repair. I begged them but the costs was $2,000 over the reimbursement value. I offered to pay the difference. Please fix my S60 Volvo. No they just couldn't do it. Even when i authorized used parts and pay the difference. We now drive a 2018 S60 T5 AWD with Polestar Oh Yeah Baby, I know My family is as safe as then be in a Volvo. The 2018 lack the character of the older models style but You know damn well the insides are good. I are looking to trade for a AWD Hybrid T8 in a year or two. We simply love, trust and will buy Volvo for ever. They saved my life. Dennis in Virginia USA
Good that you are ok as much. And sad for your beloved Volvo. Hope all ends the best for you. Take care 🌹
Thank you for the kind words
Heartbreaking mate. But as sad as it is, the car actually did what its supposed to do in that situation. Taking the brunt of the impact and displacing it around you. Like you said, Volvo are pioneers in regards of safety. The most important thing is that you're safe.
Thank you. Yes the Volvo definitely did it’s job. Thanks for watching
Im so sorry to hear Marc, but pleased that you are physically OK. It’s heartbreaking when a beloved car meets its end.
Thanks Peter for the kind words 👍
Holy shitballs dude!
Glad to see that you are ok, cars are just a bunch of metal, rubber and glass.
I totally wrote of a car once, glad it was the car that took the hit, and not me. Same goes for you, in the end be glad that you walked away!
Firstly glad you are ok! Many many years ago I hit a concrete sluice in my A reg 340 (it was probably about 12 years old at that point) the lower front was wrecked but repairable but I walked away unharmed. Volvos were in those days probably the safest cars on the road. Keep well and take care.
Thanks for the kind words.
Mate I'm so gutted for you! Main thing is you're okay physically! Hope it all gets sorted for you! Take care of yourself!
Thanks buddy. I appreciate that. 👍
Bloody hell mate! Thank god youre ok and you were" lucky" to be in Vera - You look after yourself ❤
Thanks buddy
I'm glad you weren't severely injured. I know exactly how you feel: I had a lovely 2008 Grande Punto Eleganza, which I'd absolutely loved and cherished for the best part of 9 years. At the start of the year, I hit a patch of ice, and the car skidded into a ditch. The damage was fairly minor, and the only injury I sustained was very mild whiplash, and a bruise from the seatbelt. However, the modest Punto held a huge amount of memories, so when it was inevitably declared a write off, I was absolutely devastated. I've rather fallen for the car I ended up buying, but I will always miss that Punto for the rest of my life, truth be told.
Thanks for the kind words 👍
I'm really glad you're okay, that's what matters most!
A couple of months ago, my beloved Volvo 850 got crashed by a semi truck, and I am still fighting with the insurance company, can very much relate to the pain
So sorry to hear that also 🫤
This was so difficult to watch but I am so glad the car did its job and saved you from any major injuries.
Thank you it wasn’t easy to make. But she will help other Volvos along I am sure. Got to be positive
Heart breaking mate. I’d be devastated. Always here to talk if you need to Marc. Keep pushing with your witnesses. Even seek legal advice. A former colleague had a similar experience and fought through and eventually won
Thanks Adam I appreciate the kind words. Hopefully something can be done but Vera’s days are numbered which is gutting but she did her job as a Volvo. I hope I your well buddy.
Hope you will recover soon, what a nightmare. ❤
Firstly I am glad you are alright. The car is a big part of you and you’ve got plenty of memories owning it. Life can suck at times, especially when you have lots of things going on all at the same time. I’m glad you were in the Volvo, proving they are built like tanks.
I have been rear ended some years ago when I was in a BMW X3. The traffic on the dual carriage way backed up, I can to a stop leaving 4 car lengths in front of me whilst in the outside lane and an old Fiesta came up behind me. Watching in my rear view mirror I saw the driver leaning down towards the centre console assuming playing with the stereo I sounded my horn but he had no time to react and hit me a 70 mph. It pushed me forward and I got out to check on the driver, a young lad who’s airbag went off which thankfully help protect him. His car front wings were ripped off and not much left of the front of the car.
My rear bumper took the impact and his headlight glass was wedged into it and dust from the bulbs. It still cost thousands of pounds on my repair bill but the insurance sorted it. The car was never the same after. When it rained the rear foot wells filling with water every time so I had to get rid of it.
Marc make sure you take time now to rest, relax, if the content is slower than normal we all understand. You’re mental health is as important as your physical health so take care especially as you appear to have lots going on in your personal life with family, new job and trying to find a new house. Take care buddy.
Thanks for the kind words buddy.
I was not expecting that at all! Firstly, I'm so glad you're ok. As awful as it sounds, its good you weren't in any of your other cars. This video honestly makes me want to buy an old Volvo, not only do they look cool, but the fact they can take an accident that bad is simply beyond me.
Although, I must say I feel physically sick after knowing that might have been a crash for cash scam. If I had my own way, the people who risk other peoples lives for money like this should be in prison for life.
On the plus side, you're doing well and you have had an incredible time with this car. You saved this car and turned it into something special and now it can be used to keep other amazing Volvos on the road, and its proved how stong these cars are! If I could save it myself I would. Its every petrol heads nightmare to have this happen but at least your ok!👍
Thank you for those kind words really appreciate it. Definitely hasn’t been easy but wouldn’t have wanted to have been in any other car she did her job so well. I cannot recommend a Volvo high enough absolutely awesome cars and so well built.
I guess move on and see what comes next.
Glad your ok mate! Sorry about the car!
Thank you really appreciate that.
Mate, I don't know what to say other than thank GOD you're ok, albeit physically.
You must be absolutely gutted about this...I know it's all money, but when this situation is fully resolved, maybe look out for another Volvo 940? Even if you have to do a bit of work on it to bring it up to standard, clearly this is an exceptionally safe car. I know that even of you got yourself an identical replacement, it wouldn't be the same...but long term, as you said, in that sort of extreme circumstance, she absolutely saved your life.
I really do hope you manage to sort yourself out physically AND mentally (be wary of any sort of PTSD over this) and really, I wish you all the very best.
Hey thanks for the kind words. Let’s see what the future brings.
Wow, so glad you were in that car rather than anything else and that you weren't hurt worse.. As for insurance companies, yeah, they suck. Been through a similar issue with getting the insurance company I had been with for 30+ years with no claims to do the right repairs. Hopefully the parts carry on the life of Vera.
Thanks for the kind words 👍
Glad your safe, I also would be gutted if my volvo would be involved in an accident. But I know if it happens it can save me and the others.
Thanks for the kind words
Sorry to hear about your accident. I used to own a Volvo 740 back in the 1990s which I used as a chauffeur car and clocked up around 250, 000 miles in it . I can say when I saw your video it looked very similar to what happened to my one when i was hit by a Renault 5 that collided with the front of my Volvo and launched the Renault into the air - luckily there were no injuries. I had my elderly mother in the car. The front of my car was totally wrecked but the safety cell and crumple zone did their job . From inside the car it didn't appear the car had been in an accident, there was no damage to the windscreen and the doors opened perfectly, which was surprising considering the force of the impact and the noise- the car still drove although in practise this wasnt really possible. I often think about that car and wish I still had it but sadly it was a write off. Hopefully you might be able to get another 940 although they are getting a bit thin on the ground now.
OMG, this is my worst nightmare! .. Glad you're okay though!
Good choice,stay with Volvo.
Wow sorry to hear and see this Marc glad your ok but blimey :(
Thanks buddy yes ok now but it was a rough few days.
Unlucky mate, the car did its job, its a credit to Volvo safety. Amazing its still working (including the safety incendiaries). I had a low speed crash with a 106 driving into my driver door (95 940), just replaced to door. You'll get over the trauma eventually, chin up and stay strong. Your choices were good.
340 with B230FT would have been a super project ;) But 240 is good second choice.
Thanks Tony for the kind words. Can’t beat a Volvo that’s for sure.
Glad you're ok. Hope you recover soon. We're currently considering getting one as we now have a baby. But have far to many cars apparently. Yeah I hate car insurance. Hope it all get resolved. Take care.
Thanks buddy for the kind words 👍
😪 it hurts man.
Kicks us in the nuts but we will build back stronger.
❤️
The Volvo has served its purpose: to get you to your destination and save your life. I'm hopeful that you make a quick recovery
Thank you it definitely did 👍
So sorry to hear about the Volvo :(
As im sure has been said already, as sad as it is cars can be replaced but you cant be. It took the accident very well and did an amazing job of keeping you safe. A shame its all happened at the wrong time and you cant repair it but im sure you can get another in the near future. Once youve got some more merch released ill help you get a few £ closer to another one haha. If you need some time away im sure everyone would rather you came back your best after a short rest than making videos your not motivated to make. Just have to think on the positive side that you were able to walk way with no physical injuries
Thanks buddy for the kind words 👍
Glad you’re ok mate
I had a similar incident on the motorway around 10 years ago . 14 cars and the only person paid up was the dodgy guy who caused the crash
Rest up ❤ take it easy and get mended
Thanks for the kind words.
I'm gutted for you losing a car you like so much but glad that you're largely unhurt ( physically). I run a 240, a 940 ( spitting image of Vera ) and a 1970 VW beetle but wouldn't want to be in a shunt at anything over 5mph in the bug. Respect for making such an emotionally difficult video. You need to find another 940 wagon !
Great cars aren’t they. I would love another. Let’s see what the future brings. Thanks for the kind words.
I bought an engine for my 343 from a crashed model. You could literally see the safety bars all round it as it’d rolled. That had definitely also saved someone’s life
Glad your ok physically marc, been down the same road as you but with my first mini, but i managed to keep the car and trying to get fixed
But i get the emotional side of car ownership ❤❤
Thank you. It’s definitely a moment that sucks. Cheers for the kind words and watching the video.
Volvo’s are awesome cars , I had someone rear end my 340 , their car was ruined , mine was scratched , glad you’re ok such a shame about the car 😢
It’s a bit of old metal. You’re in one piece, which is great. Great for you and great for Mrs S and all your family. The actual car isn’t important at all. Get a grip Marc.
Sorry to ere this news.. all mixed in with bad timing with all you have going on!. Main thing you are ok pal.. your mind will counteract the negative & time will heal.. Vera s parts will help others too!.. keep positive you will get your head straight 💯
Thank you Richard for the kind words.
Damm this hurts😢 Glad you are okay though
So sorry this happened. I'd be heart broken if anything happened to my S60R. 😢 just shows though there tough old things !
Im not sure if i have ever watched any of your videos before but im glad you are ok and as a Swede and fellow 940 estate owner for 20 years ( a 1998 classic) im also sad to se the state of the car. Im not all that surpriced that the car runs since these cars are tanks, mine has also been super reliable and never had any serious problems and thats not bad for a 25 year old car with 320000 km on the meter. Sadly the insurance companies likely wont cover much on such an old car, my catalytic converter was stolen about a year ago and i worried that they would want to scrap the car but they covered it to my big relief and put a brand new on there.
Thanks for the kind words 👍
This is why I am so terrified of even driving my 1981 242 Turbo volvo. Had it since High School. My old friend at a 242 GT, and it went much in the same way. I am not willing to let my car end up like that. To many good memories in it. I'm glad you are doing okay, but its going to take you well over a year to deal with your hand injuries alone even with intense therapy.
You get better man, and put NUMBER 1 FIRST!
Cars can be mended as good as new. We lack the "Body shops" and techs to yet do that for the human body
Take care brother.
Thanks for the kind words buddy.
I own a 2000 Volvo s70 it has a 105 thousand original miles on it love it had it 7 yrs
Sounds a great car!
@@SimpsonsClassics it is had to replace the water pump that's it besides regular maintenance
This is why I drive Volvos, if you don't walk away from a Volvo, you won't walk away from anything. I had 3 of these in the past, and wish they still made them. Sad for you losing the car but you are physically unhurt. Ironic that today Volvo announced they will not be selling saloons and estates in the UK any more.
Thanks for the kind words 👍 and that’s a crap bit of news! Volvo estates are the way forward.
Im sorry dude. That was a super nice car and I know it was like a family member to you.
Definitely a family member maté absolutely heartbreaking thanks for the kind words
I totally empathize with you, my favorite car was a Saab 900 turbo manual and I was hit by a huge truck, the car was mangled but it did everything the Swedes designed it to do in an accident but it still hurt when the dealer gave me the license plates back and said it was a write off. Glad there were no serious injuries, that’s what matters.
Thanks life is first for sure. Cheers for taking the time to watch. 👍
....Arse! I wasnt expecting that! Glad you are OK that's the important thing. Sorry the insurance company aren't being helpful either; not what anyone needs in this situation. Such a shame as your car put my 940 to shame.
That you I appreciate the kind words it’s been a nightmare and still is. But she will help other cars back on the road I am sure. I hope your 940 is still going strong.
Hi Marc. I am sorry you have experienced this and hope that you get over it soon. I hate insurance companies too and have yet to have a satisfactory claim. If you don't expect much from an insurance company then you probably won't be disappointed. I'm sure you will bounce back.
Thanks Graham for the kind words 👍
It’s one of them gut wrenching scenarios, that piss you off ! , to the enth degree !
For sure! Not been easy but I am safe that’s the main thing I guess.
Sad to see the car in this state but at least you are okay:)
Thanks for the kind words 👍
Sorry for your loss and so good that old good brick saved your life. You need that safety only once, And the car did its job on all 100%. Take care and get well soon. If you are coming to Gothenburg, please let me know. I am living there. Can help suggest what places to visit apart from Volvo Museum and can stay at my home if you wish.
Thanks for the kind words 👍 let’s see what the future brings 👍
this is the very reason I own Volvo's, glad you're OK.
Volvos for life! Thanks for the kind words 👍
mate, never be sorry for showing emotions, men hurt too. you take care fella x
Good for Volvo you are still here
This is why volvos r good for banger racing, they r indestructible, great cars
Glad your ok, I know what its like to lose a favourite car, was restoring a 1984 E30 BMW which I had parked out of the shed to work on something else and a neighbours rather large blew over and completely squashed it.
Thanks for the kind words 👍
I'm so glad you're ok. Vera did her job. Amazing the airbag worked considering the age. I have a P reg 940 LPT Auto estate. I call my 940 "Pewter" as P reg and silver. Had mine 6 years. Best £250 I ever spent. Used as my workhorse. No major issues and run in at 208,000 miles. At least Vera will live on in other Volvo's. What speed was the accident? James.
Thanks for the kind words 👍 mine was £250 to as a non runner. Love the car. Speed over 50mph
I crashed my 96' 850 T5 a couple of days ago, absolutely broke my heart. My first car and dream car barely, drove it 20k km before a drunk driver on the motorway took it away from me. I get where you're coming from, but honestly im glad i drove it that day, had it been anything else i would'nt be here. And yes, it still drove... XD
Hopefully i will get enough from the insurance to buy another one again
Hey I am sorry to hear you have just gone through a similar thing. It does truly suck but like you say your glad you where in a Volvo when it did happen.
I hope well, and things get better soon. regards.
sometimes mate, you got to know when to walk away, you are doing the right thing as much as it hurts, least you came out of it in one piece x
Thank you I appreciate the comment 👍
@@SimpsonsClassics as weird as this is i have just seen someone selling a 740 estate, same colour, same damage same side! how freaky is that! he wants a grand for it in Barnsley, comes with all the stuff to repair i think he said?
You should maybe salvage what you can and make a trailor out of the rear half and if you get another 940 you can attach it to the running motor as a camper
Aha someone has mentioned this..
Sorry to see. Kit yourself out with a dashcam mate. Keep it up
Thanks for the kind words. Don’t worry it’s the first thing I bought 👍
🫂I feel for you. I know what it feels like my first mini was written off and it was a hardest thing to see a tow truck taking it away💔
Thanks for the kind words 👍
Heart broken for ya mate.
Skipped my backlog after seeing your social media post to extend my sincerest condolences, Marc. So glad you escaped physically unhurt, though the mental scars will take longer to heal by all accounts. I felt every emotion in your video, so sorry pal. If it was an unscrupulous 'crash for cash event', I hope that their lives are plagued with misfortune (being polite). So sorry that the insurance company has messed you around too. A prudent time to vote with your wallet and take your fleet business elsewhere mate. Such a shame, she isn't economically or emotionally viable to repair (insurance grading aside), if anyone has the skill and raw talent to do so, it is you my friend. I presume that you have explored buying another good example and transferring parts from Vera? Appreciate with an impending house move and new job, now isn't the best time, but this was a dream wagon for you and Vera could live on. Keep positive buddy.
Thanks for the kind words Darren. Yes I have explored that option. Unfortunately no other 940 would ever take this one’s place but the parts are going to be used on a great project of a friend of mine, which I will share on the channel in the future. Cheers for watching all the same
Buddy.
I work in the insurance industry, there all the same, they don't give a shit as long as they have your money 🤬
😞
Sad for you to lose the Volvo but it saved you're life I hope you break it and it can live on in other cars 😁
Definitely I am glad most her parts are living on.

@@chucky2316 that’s a sorry thing to hear. 🫤
In Sept. '15 I was rear-ended in my '90 740 GL by a distracted driver while I was stopped behind a school bus discharging children at a stop. The vehicle that struck me was a 5,000lb+ RAM Quad-Cab pickup truck. The speed of the impact was approx. 15mph. The police were called and a collision report was filed and I was released from the scene of the collision - not "accident" - but the other driver was detained and probably charged with something. (He had admitted to me that he had been 'distracted'.)
I immediately reported the collision to my insurance company, but I didn't start a claim because I knew that my near-mint 740 would be 'totalled' by them and then 'branded' and I would then have to go through the entire process of waiting to be paid what THEY felt it was worth and then having to buy it back from them for the same amount. That whole process could have taken weeks - if not months - and I just wanted MY car!
Fortunately, the car was still drivable with no broken rear lenses, etc. (It was just a bit shorter! lol) So, I was able to keep using it. A few months later, in early December, I took it to my nearby Volvo body shop and paid the $6,000 + tax to have it properly repaired. It took 2 weeks, but I got my Volvo back. No gosh darn way was I going to have my insurance company take my Volvo away from me! Volvo For Life!
Sorry to see this marc, but glad you are ok, even tho its heart breaking, ive got 2 940 saloons my self, I did see in one of your videos of the turbo pod vent holder ( where do i get one from ?) and if you do break her, i would be looking for the speedo sensor and the dash instrument cluster
Hey thanks for the kind words. Yes I will be breaking the car so please get in touch via email or instagram if you need any parts
I had my Pride n Joy ex Military Land Rover Defender 110 Soft Top. Vandalised on 3 consecutive nights. I was fully insured and protected no claims. The insurance company were diabolical. I ended up paying 3 excesses £750 in total. Lost my 40 years no claims bonus. Was supposed to have a curtesy car, nope.
I vowed never to use that insurance company ever again.
I won’t name them either.
That’s such a shame 😞
Bloody hell Marc! So gutted for you . Some people don't see how we petrol heads can become attached to a car and I could see just how upset you were making that video. Many years ago I had a 3 day old car that got rear ended while I was sat at a roundabout. For some time after, any sound that resembled the screeching of tyres or that sound from the impact would literally make me freeze on the spot.
So glad you're okay though mate and that is the main thing. What did you actually hit?
Thanks for the kind words. The other car was a little Japanese shopping trolley of s car…
