- Enjoy my newest restoration project as I take an old rough looking Ice Box, from the early 1900's, and bring it back to life!

After you scraped off all the paint and sanded it down what did you put on it? And how did you clean the mega hinges?

What color stain did you use?
I have an old ice box as well but I don’t like the orange/ golden color. Can I lighten the wood or will it still turn orange?

What did you use to remove paint of metal? I have a very modern looking ice box I would like to refresh.
Also did you save the racks. BTW. Love it.
Gel paint thinner is what I used. I think there's a liquid version? Which would probably better for getting in all the cracks. I definitely kept the racks, just some cleaning solution and some scrubbing and I was happy with the results. Good Luck!
