  • Hey Everyone,
This video is about the connection issues with Nest Hello and how I got it fixed.
If the troubleshoot methods do not work try plugging the nest hello to your laptop and go to home.nest.com and see if it will work that way. Move around the house to see when it disconnect/connects. If it does connect its most likely a wifi issue. Just call your internet provide and explain the situation. They can reset stuff on their end.
    Update**
The issue came back, however, we were able to solve it by putting in a wifi booster. Get in touch with you service provider and ask for a free wifi booster kit.
    Hope this help!

I had the same problem. It is a matter of WiFi signal strenght so looking for intereference (metal doors, etc) and changing the Nest location may help. You can reduce bandwith demand by changing video quality to low (worked in my case and solved the problem forever). Otherwise a WiFi repeater, Access Point or mesh is the only realistic solution.
There is no "integrated WiFi anntena inside the Nest where you could connect an external WiFi anntena with an extension cable so that is not an option.
Moving the Nest to reduce interference and reducing video quality is a sure bet

Yeah, I have 2 firedoors that it needs to go through and then disconnects as well sometimes so I may have to be forced to get a Wi-Fi extender.

Hey guys I know it's been over a year since this video. But what i found out is if you don't have internet or Wi-Fi issues just restart your phone and it works like magic. Hope this help...

You really should have demonstrated plugging the doorbell to your computer.

Most likely you need an extender.
You can connect the device to your laptop and run it. If it works you know the device is fine. Then I suggest to walk around (with the laptop and device connected) the house to see where it starts to cut out.
I can't recall but once connect you have to go to one of the nest website. Let me know if you need more help.

His method doesn't work. But this worked for me:
    - Connect the nest hello doorbell to your computer using a "usb to micro b" wire
    - Connect to 2.4ghz wifi on your phone (these days you'll have wifi for 2.4ghz and 5ghz)
    - Try connecting to the doorbell through your phone
    - If the doorbell still can't connect to the wifi, then change google account and see if it connects there (this final step worked for me)
Connecting the hello nest to the computer first helped it give enough power to find the wifi.
I tried with two nest doorbells and both had to be connected to the computer first, before I was able to connect it to the wired doorbell
