Tour of POLOSUB in Rome - The BEST spearfishing wetsuits in the world.

- Over the summer I was invited by Polosub owner and founder Giuliano Tagliacozzo to Rome where he would show me the inner workings of this iconic hand made Italian wetsuit brand.
I have been using Polosub suits since 2012 and honestly believe they are the best available suits on the market for spearfishing. I've been in the tropics of Australia and Tonga in 3.5mm suits, 5.5mm suits in the winters & southern areas of Australia and all the way into the Arctic Circle in Norway in these suits.

So good to see a small industry with passion and quality succeed!
I have one since 2012. One side lined 3.5mm pants/5.5mm jacket. Minimal compression, very high quality. Pants required some gluing, jacket is bulletproof - except for a few fish bites. Priced very competitively. Thank you, Polosub!
An excellent film you have made there, such bespoke high quality!
Thank you Tom.
Ordered mine, can't wait for it to be shipped
So cool to see how they are made Thankyou
I'm in love with this guy
Wow great Channel I am scuba diver I don't do spearfishing but I'm really impressed with your videos especially the one around the workshop thank you keep up good work people love you all around the world
Thanks mate!
I always say there is just a handful wetsuit makers like this and Polosub might be the top notch number one with a few othere with same quality and craftmanship
What are the names of the other ones?
I would like to know that, too.
So interesting. This video deserves an in depth update for sure!
Un vídeo muy bonito. Polosub a los ojos de todos en casa.
Un trabajo muy controlado y ahí están los resultados, probablemente los mejores trajes para Apnea y Pesca submarina que existen en la actualidad.
Gracias Señor!
Beautiful! Wish I had one I'll be it's warmer than the one I use now, too!
Dan, we need another more indepth video of PoloSub once we're out of isolation please!! So interesting to learn about wetsuits after your recent wetsuit vid and this one!! :)
yees
Nice looking Suits, and the chef seems to be a really nice dude, who just want to make good suits. I will order one!
Giuliano is a legend!
Calidad suprema Giuliano
good job keep going mate
Great Italian style and quality...
Just ordered mine today! 11.5 farmer John. Halibut in Katchemack bay this winter!
Polosup My friend very nice video polosup 👋👋💪💪🐟🐟
I get asked what is the highest priority if you need to purchase a gun, fins, etc. Depends... but for me if I can't dive comfortably, my bottom time, body language, etc is less good. So for me first is a wetsuit that protects my body and keeps it nicely warm. Then only if money is left I would buy fins, and thenafter.... a better or new speargun. ;) POLOSUB customized is br FAR my best investment for spearfishing and freediving!
Couldn’t agree more 👌
Gotta disagree with you there. The whole point of spearfishing is to spear a fish. You are not a recreational diver or a free diver. You are here to spear a fish. So a speargun should be your priority. Without it, you are just another freediver.
Polo sub very good👌
Had a dive in NZ in 16deg water with a 3mm Csub wet suit and lasted over an hour. It's all about the rubber.
One of my European buddies in the west coast (he is owner of Spear America in Irvine if your interested) recommended these suits over the Riffe suits that i have been using for years. I am tall and slender and only realized how a properly fitted suit is suppose to feel like after i got my polo sub. Its worth the 400 bucks if you are a avid spear fisherman/ women :)
very good gear....
good job
Nice movie ;)
Thanks mate, I just checked out your channel and subscribed!
Daniel Mann thx me To ;) good trip
Hi Daniel, can you make some short video about wetsuit fitting guide, sizes, tickness and else? Thanks in advance
That ''deep'' t-shirt made me cry
RIP Dimitris
Grazie
I want to ask you what do you think is better and more durable daibo wet suits or the polosub Forza tre? Concidering i am a spearo... Like i practice it daily
Hi there :) I live in Brisbane, Australia and I'm wondering what mm thickness you would recommend for the winter months in Queensland? This will be my first Polosub so I appreciate any advice. Thanks very much!
I use a 5.5mm Forza Tre in winter for Brisbane with waist high pants.
@@DanielMann I was also going to say 5mm or if like to be super warm 6.5mm
Absolutly the best web suites in the world !!! In spain we apreciate them a lot even second hand!! There aré good suits then theres polosub
They are amazing!
Hey Daniel! Thank you so much for the amazing videos. I was wondering if you, or anyone else, could give me some guidance on thickness? I will be diving in California, 50 degrees in the winter and up to 70 degrees in the summer. I believe its between the 5.5 mm or the 7mm suit. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
That’s quite a range. Best would be to get a 5.5mm suit and a 7mm jacket. Then you can swap the jackets out for when it gets colder.
Daniel Mann Perfect thank you so much for the reply. Also half the year I live in Egypt and I plan on diving in the Red Sea while I am there. Do you think 3mm is too thick for the summer months there? I am not sure what to do about that
Not sure what the water temperature is but a 3mm is what I use above 24°C.
Daniel Mann Thank you so much brother! As a new sub I am enjoying all of your content! Hope your channel just keeps growing and more importantly you have a great time doing it!
What would you recommend for a wetsuit thickness for tropical water mainly Philippines. I've never used one because I'm a bigger guy aka fat 5'4" 300 lbs. I know i will need a custom wetsuit. But wanted your thoughts. In high school i just used a tight long sleeve shirt to keep the fire coral off me in Florida.
Daniel in your opinion is open cell significantly warmer than lined? I find it a hassle to lube up so not sure if I should try open cell...
Definitely warmer and more comfortable. After 3mm for me it is an absolute necessity. Getting into a lined suit that is wet is a painful experience, wet opencell is great just add more lube or jump in the water to don it. Much better for multi day trips. For 5mm suits I use the forza tre material which is sandwich style, opencell inside and smooth outside. Above that straight opencell smoothskin is the only way to fly for comfort.
Daniel Mann what thickness would you get for spearfishing in 10 degree (c) water? (Southern Tasmania in winter)
I’d probably just use a full smoothskin 7.5mm. But if I was going to be trying to do deeper drops boat diving maybe a 9.5mm jacket as well.
Hi Daniel, how do we get a Polosub in the UK? I don’t seem to be able to find an outlet... I think Joe PK has one (at least one) too...
You can order directly on the website, although I suspect with COVID-19 order times will be delayed somewhat.
Thank you Daniel, looks like you and Joe have got my wife (wife for 40 years 😍) and I in to a new sport for our retirement. Love your very informative videos mate! It’s like taking us beneath the waves with you 👍😄. Thanks for taking your valuable time replying with the info 🙏. Stay safe you and yours fella.
i owned a Forza Tre for almost 5yrs..I have beaten it to death and still holding...I hope it breaks soon because I want to buy another.
really, hoping wesuit to breaks? and i'm here cant even afford 1 single suit..
Hey braddah can you point me in the direction of a polo sub rep in the states? I need a suit
hay daniel, the wets can possible for 2mm also?
Yes of course, check out the website or email info@polosub.com
+Daniel Mann thanks man
Haven't taken mine out yet but it's a true 7mm. Looks amazing and fit is perfect also. Should be great in the water. Got fitted at Spear America. Petros is the best!
They are excellent suits indeed. What part of America are you diving with the 7mm?
I'm in Southern California. It gets to around 50 and stays there for about 3 months. I do think that a polo 5.5 would actually keep me warm up until the coldest months. I don't understand how the thickness of other mainstream suits can vary so much. They now even have a 6.5 Polo. Also once you go with a smoothskin you never want to look back!
Καλησπέρα αγαπητέ φίλε μου πόσο κοστίζει μια στολή 5 m, 4n, euro,?
2:32 "So one shits one's suit. Normally." I personally don't even pee in my suit, but then again this guy can have all the suits he want.
Haha
If i want to buy this suit..can you reach to Malaysia for postage?..i relly like your meterial👍
Should be no problem, contact them at info@polosub.com
Wow..tq
Hey daniel i was wondering if the interior chest reinforcement is rubber on the inside or is it lined like the outside. If its lined i think i will do exterior
Interior is just smooth skin neoprene. Not lined on the inside.
The way he said “cutting room” makes me suspicious :)
Not Sure if I should pay this much or buy 65€ maybe perfect Outfit :|
Do u think it's worth the money??
Depends on the budget and what you need. For me they are absolutely worth it.
I lke this sh**t ^^(y)
one shit one suit :)
Xt diving is so better!!!
I've never used one but I've heard good things. What makes them better compared the previous polosub suits you have had?
Sono antipatico se ti dico di lasciar parlare l'inglese a chi lo ha studiato, è molto più "vàntagé" e ci fai bella figura.
I bet the sizing is dreadful? This guy makes his suits to fit average sized Italians (height wise) not average sized Brits or Americans. A size or two larger than what would be a proper size for us , is what we’d have to order. Then hope that would fit. Playing ‘ping pong’ with a wet suit via a delivery company always detracts from a good experience , in my experience. Good kit though, no doubting that. Thank you, I enjoyed the vid.
They are all custom made to measure for each individual so they always fit.
They are nice. But not the best.
The best spearfishing wetsuits in the world? Realy? They don't even want to say what kind of neoprene the wetsuits are made of. These are definitely not the best suits in the world ;)
Neoprene brands are like wine, lots are great but some people just pay for the name.
@@DanielMann some companies use that as well, you buy a wetsuit made of Yamamoto 45 neoprene, and you don't know what you get. Customers need to know what they are buying, as the cost of the neoprene is the majority of the cost of the all wetsuit ;)
@@DainiusNeriam it's never been relevant to me and I've been using Polosub suits for over a decade. The majority of the cost of wetsuits made in china is of course the neoprene but these custom made, hand stitched suits from Rome - the cost is the labour.
@@DanielMann yes, it could be in your case, you are diving in warm waters, but in other case, when water temperature is around +10 C and even less, type of neoprene is very important. Im diving in waters where water temperature average is some time +4/+5 C. And for the cost believe in me, more than 50% of costs are neoprene, other part of costs are know how, glue, stitches, template and others small thinks 😉
@DainiusNeriam ugghhhhh warm waters? I have lived in London for the past 8 years. Temperatures I dive in the U.K. range from 5-18°C. I’ve also got three videos to Norway, one in the winter north of the Arctic circle where the water was 1°C. Also a video in Iceland where I dived around icebergs and the water was 0°C. Been to Denmark several times in 4-8°C water. I’m no stranger to cold water diving and my Polosub suits have allowed me to do it.
