    The fact that this includes the New Jedi Order is enough for me to start hunting this down. I've never played tabletop d20 RPGs so I am so excited to dive in with this!

      It's a solid version of the Star Wars RPG, but you might prefer the Saga edition, which is a more polished version of D20, and I'm pretty sure there's an entire sourcebook devoted to the New Jedi Order.

      @@RPGGamer Awesome! Thanks for the info, I've found a copy of Saga edition to buy, now I'm hunting down the NJO sourcebook. Are there any videos explaining how to get into tabletop RPGs? All videos I find about the d20 system have this presupposition that the viewer knows the basics, but I don't xD

    Just picked up the Revised Core Rulebook. You don't happen to have a "How to" guide in building a character, do you? I've run 5E for a few years now but I'd love to try this out. Some help would be immensely appreciated!

      I'm afraid I haven't done a Character Creation series yet. A year or so ago I asked my viewers if they wanted me to Start Character Creation videos, or another couple of options, and they chose one of the other options. So I intend to do Character generation videos at some point, but we're talking in the future.

      I'd like to see this as well. Particularly for the RCR D20 version of Star Wars.

    Never played this version but I used a lot of their expansions as source info for WEG. Like their Knights of the Old Republic setting.

      They did a great selection of books. Sadly during that period I was but a poor student, so couldn't afford them :(
      Which is why I've spent the years making it up for myself.

    I have loved FEW RPGs as much as I did this particular version of Star Wars. It covered ALL era's (as of the original printings, obviously) and is rich with the lore behind the Clone War era, Classic Trilogy, Sith Lore, Yuuzhan Vong, Jedi, Force User's unaffiliated with Jedi or Sith, The Old Republic, Starships, Equipment, Weapons, Races. I was sad to see the license leave WotC.

    • @RPGGamer
      @RPGGamer  3 місяці тому

      I was very surprised when WotC let the licence go, as they still had the rights to continue with it for a few more years. I really enjoyed this version of Star Wars, but did find it very combat focused.
      I was playing a medic, and had all the feats to help in this role very early on (before 10th level), so my character instead of growing as the skilled, yet sleazy surgeon wanted for malpractice that I'd created, just ended up taking typical combat feats.
      Still enjoyed the hell out of it though.

    see we tried this game when it first came out and really didnt care for it so we went back to the WEG D6 system.

    • @RPGGamer

      I've played and loved every different Star Wars RPG over the years, but the fact that I'm running two different d6 campaigns for different groups I think speaks volumes of which one I think is best.

    I had a pdf years ago and was going to run it. I've been trying to track it down but all i can find is the FFG one and i have to say i don't like the dice system, or much of anything else i've seen of it tbh.
    But i reckon this is the one i was learning. I'll try and see if i can dig up an oop copy somewhere.

    • @RPGGamer
      @RPGGamer  4 роки тому +1

      The FFG game does have some really good points, the rules lend themselves to a more cooperative style of game, where the players can get hold of the story and take it in fairly interesting directions.
      However, it does give advantage to imaginative players, as they can take control of a game, and the way they tried to balance the other classes with Jedi just came across to me as superpowers (I played an engineer, who had an ability to make a device once per adventure which would solve a problem, so I managed to create a custom blaster which stunned AT-AT in one adventure, and I jammed the targeting systems of Tie Bombers in another causing their bombs to fail to detonate in another, just by rolling well on this talent).
      The D20 version is pretty darn cool though, as Star Wars is just D&D in space.

      Cool, what other books are you getting? I didn't get many of the D/20 books, but loved those I did get.

      I can’t remember at the top of my head. But I think it was the Naboo, weapons and equipment, and the sith one. Maybe starships.

    me and my group play pathfinder i'm trying to find the best star wars game that's close to that which one do you think is the best

    • @RPGGamer
      @RPGGamer  2 роки тому +2

      The Wizards of the Coast version uses the same rules as 3rd Edition D&D, which I believe is the base for Pathfinder as well. So you'll find those most familiar. It's level based, with the classic race/class selection for your character, so I think you'll find the transition easy.

      @@RPGGamer awesome thank you very much yeah I wasn't for sure should it be this 2000 version that you have the 2002 revised version or the 2007 saga version. I think we've decided though on the 2002 revised version since just at a glance looking at the character sheet looks like Pathfinder or starfinder :) also i got one more question is the 2000 version books compatible with the 2002 revised

    • @RPGGamer
      @RPGGamer  2 роки тому

      @@meno2294 The 2000 and 2002 versions should be compatible, as they were both just slight updates of the 3rd edition D&D rules. Saga was still pretty similar, so none of them should cause you problems.

      D20 Revised Core Rulebook. 3.5 D&D translated into Star Wars. (The basis for KOTOR.)
      EDIT: Just realized you asked this nearly a year ago. Ha. So I'm sure you've probably figured it out by now.

    The SAGA edition did NOT improve the system! People were way too harsh in judging the d20 revised system and never really gave it the chance it deserved. SAGA is just horribly broken. SAGA is my least favorite rpg ever published.

    • @RPGGamer
      @RPGGamer  2 роки тому

      I've played a lot of worse games than SAGA edition, laughably bad ones, but I can totally understand the limitations of the system and how broken it can be. I played a Doctor in SAGA, and there's only about 3 feats relevant, so by around 5th level I was the best doctor that I was ever going to be, so just became a regular soldier type, which really disappointed me as I really wanted to be a sciencey dude who wouldn't just shoot stuff.
