Hulk clearly doesn't know how business works. You don't put somebody in complete control of your business unless they DESERVE to be in control. If the contestants wanted to work for it they would have gotten it. If you treat your business like a gift to hand around to random chefs; you will not own it for very long! Gordon knows better than you.
I had the opportunity of meeting Chef Christina at Hell's Kitchen in Las Vegas. She went out of her way to put back on her chefs jacket just to pose for a photo with us and we didn't even ask. Just was happy to get a picture with her! Even talked with us for a while. Absolute sweetheart!
Dave and Holli were completely robbed from a great opportunity that was lined up for them after both of them won the show. I can't imagine how disappointed Dave was after he learned that he was offered a line cook position instead of the head chef position, I would feel so cheated at that opportunity. The same with Holli that is totally messed up that she was not able to work because she was denied her working permit. Like the video mentioned the show had a lot of time to prepare all of the paperwork needed for the winner to be able to get the permit and help Holli but no help was offered and Holli was not offered the position. As much as they get to keep the money which is nice it's still messed up for both of them how their "prize" turned out after winning Hells Kitchen. I am so glad both of them are at great positions and still doing what they love!
Well in fairness only in the show is it called a head chef position. Contestants are actually told they can win $250,000, a job as a chef at a restaurant. The contracts never say head chef. Only for the show and tv do they say head chef. So in reality all the contestants knew the real deal of it.
Did any of the winners ever get the prize that was promised?? They all give up a lot to be on the show, and put up with some extremely stressful conditions, and all for what??
Yes did you not watch the video? The thing is just because they can cook doesn’t mean they can manage people. The show is looking for someone well rounded. They need to prove themselves to get that position, it’s not just about the cooking. Professionalism and leadership have a lot to do with it.
As you can see, most of them did. The one-year contract is a huge leg up for them if they stay in the culinary industry and they get to keep the cash prize (though most probably less taxes). Whether they thrive or not after that is up to them.
so I am at season 7's winner and from my count 6 of the 7 winners by this point were DENIED the actual prize by one means or another. With Rock being the exception. Huh... let's see if it gets better...
Because it all depends on the person. People like Cristina proved themselves to be good leaders and actually be ready for the position. Unfortunately most of the people that come to the show are not ready. I believe only 3 of them have been truly amazing and deserving of the position. Just think about it, if you had a business you need to be mindful of where you put your employees. You can’t promote someone that gets flustered and can’t manage people.
It isn’t. Gordon’s restaurants are known for their high standard of employee morale. The winners only last a year because that’s the length of the contract.
Given they only have contract for 1 year and hardly a single one of these chefs worked for more than 1 year, I find it odd how Gordon Ramsey basically never gives 40+ year old chefs a chance because they wouldn't be as valuable in the long run when hardly a single chef does stay for the long run.
Christina Wilson was probably one of the most successful except maybe Declan, but he didn't win, so she really was the most successful winner. Looks like she stayed under Gordon basically this whole time. She's now VP Culinary of Gordon Ramsay North America since 2020, which I am assuming makes her a pretty penny.
So many tragic endings and outcomes. I'd love to know who Ramsey thinks the best chef who has ever competed on the show. I bet it's someone who didn't win.
The “only one year” we keep seeing from these chefs in regards to working with Ramsay is because the grand prize is contracted for one year only. The only chef who managed to score a renewal or extension for working under Ramsay was fittingly Christina Wilson from season 10.

@@donitawhite8111 I'm pretty sure there is a clause in their contracts that the chef job is not guaranteed and just played up for the cameras. Also, could you imagine the morale of the kitchen if people with years and years of actual culinary experience has to take orders from some guy who basically won the job because of a 15 week contest? I wouldn't take them seriously if I was in that position. And judging by how many times the winners end up moving, doesn't look the those chefs take them seriously either.
Same with Jon of season 11. He only got third place but Christina saw his potential and hired him as her sous chef. He’s doing very well and he was my favourite, so I’m happy everything worked out for him
Well, I am not shock that they move on from this, go to show that this sow was just a fake flop after all, No you want be the head chef but you can be the senior commode cleaner
I had a crush on Micheal so bad during his season 😭until i found out he had a wife in the season finale….and all of this. But, I’m glad he’s back on his feet.
I can’t offer the answers to Mentoring specifically but I know that Jon actually got hired by Ramsey and he admit he made the wrong choice eliminating him, unsure if he’s still working with the man. And Sterling also got offered a job by Ramsey, but instead he decided to work at the Hospital that saved his Adoptive Mother’s life, also unsure where he is now but, undoubtedly he is doing his best.
The fact of the matter is that almost everyone in the restaurant industry has some sort of addiction problem. It took me a long time to simply realize that I need to get out of the business. Surround yourself with better people. Not saying that these are bad but hours are long and hard . People deal with this thru addiction.
Christina has to be one of my fav chef. I love season 10. She really pulls it with all the drama and all the fight within that season. I'm happy to see her going so far!
I don't understand why some of these chef's didn't get the prize they were promised, they knew their level of skill and education before they walked in
Having been a superfan all these years, I am so happy to see how many of them used the experience and the challenge of getting thru HK to propel their careers. Unfortunate how many of them weren't given the actual position (and the show could have adjusted accordingly), however my understanding is that all of them were given the money. Ugalde was offered a cash settlement and later came on the show to eat at the chef's table, so her ill-feelings must have been short-lived (also she is quite successful).
I will always remember Dave Levey and Christina. I remember when they started putting in the fine print on the show that they would not be getting the top chef position. I couldn't blame them really, while some of them were very talented and deserved to win I would not say they were ready to run a kitchen quite yet.
Is it me or is it bill crap that the early show talked up the great prizes and then never gave them out. How are they not being sued? I mean I love the show but the prize is what drives almost everyone to compete so hard.
I love Hells Kitchen but after hearing all this B.S. with the winners of the show…makes me think otherwise now. Very sad. I wish em all happiness at least. Restaurant life is no joke. Working for pennies basically.
So, it turns out the average time the winners spend working at the prized position advertised on the television show, when you factor in all the zeroes, is about 3 months. Gee, I wonder why the show never reveals this on the air.
probably because they all still won $250,000 and the opportunity of a life time but they squandered it for drugs or family or whatever. i feel worse for the runners up who had to find out that the people who beat them fucked up and didnt actually have what it takes to keep going
Christina is of course one of my faves but I think my favourite is Ryan from S16! S16 was the first season I watched and I remember seeing the first few episodes thinking "yup she's gonna get it". She did amazing on her season!
So Levey wins Hells Kitchen only to be offered a LINE COOK position on a $250,000 salary?!?! That's so disrespectful. Atleast make him a jr sous chef or some sort of management positon holy. I mean if I was him I would have no problem with it but I would definitely feel disrespected. But definitely not to the point where I would leave a job working for Chef Ramsay even if he's not present at the restaurant. Having that on your resume can land you a lot of Executive Chef positions at a lof of prestigious places.
Yeah I agree that's so ridiculous, for me Levey is one of the best winners to win Hells Kitchen considering he messed up his arm really badly he went through pain and to see him pretty much demoted to a line cook position was a massive slap in the face. I've always had the impression that whoever wins the competition becomes head chef and whatever restaurant they are advertising and gets the salary as well, but in the end it becomes fake promises as most of the past winners don't even get the position advertised. Season 7 winner Holli has got a point when she said that Hells Kitchen is just all for show
Why are some of the winners are appointed as sous chef or executive chef but not as head chef? Gordon literally said the winners would get the head chef position
Honestly wouldn't surprise me if the producers of the show made the prize for winning much better than it actually was. Most of these winners didn't get half of what they were promised lol
@@shivramkarthik2882 I wouldn’t say Gordon lied but more so the producers or restaurants that have given him the information for the winner. Everyone knows this has been an issue for years. Some restaurants pulled out at the last minute because of the “drama” on tv and they didn’t want certain chefs to run their kitchen. That’s why Gordon starting using his own restaurants as rewards last time I checked.
In Nonas case, I think that's the reason why she won. Because the other contestant was just too much of a bully with an unlikable personality the showrunners just couldn't let him win even though he was the better chef.
The reason for some not getting the actual prize in earlier seasons I assume is because some of them weren't official Ramsey restaurants right? And some later turned down the role for personal reasons and one winner failed a drugs test, but the show seemed to fix the prize job by making them all GRG restaurants recently...also the reason for not starting the job for a while after is that they need the show to air before and the winner revealed publicly before they start at the prize restaurant....so there are no spoilers
I admit, Holli get pretty screwed over. First, being forced to accept a lower position than promised. Second, to have the whole thing taken away when the UK wouldn't give her a working visa.
It may be easy to judge the chefs with addiction problems, but there are reasons as to why drugs are so prominent in the food service industry. These people work insanely long hours on their feet and they aren't paid well for it. No, they aren't being forced to do drugs, but there needs to be better working conditions in the food service industry.
@Altema bro, the positions are literally advertised as the prize. That’s what they’re competing for. You can’t just say, “if you spend multiple months competing in this competition, you will be granted 300,000 and the head chef of your own restaurant !” And then give them the position of sous chef or lower. That’s false advertising. The winners of Hell’s Kitchen should have been set for life with their job working for Ramsey like his other staff. More than half of these winners only worked at the “positions” they won for a short amount of time
They get a job as "Head Chef" (kind of a made up position) at the restaurant with a $250,000 salary. They work, sometimes as an overpaid line cook, some times as more. The money is broken up into 52 paychecks taxed as prize money, so it's a substantially higher tax rate. They also do a lot of PR work. If they quit, the money stops. Most don't renew their contact afterwards (lower pay, possibly different position.) They can choose to not take the job, get a $150,000 lump sum payment, taxed as prize money, but still do a ton of PR work as to make it look like they work there. Either way, you are property of Fox Television and ITV for that year. It's almost better to be the runner up than win. More freedom. Even a contestant who didn't win (myself) has to ask permission to do any public events as a chef from "Hell's Kitchen" for 1 year from the date of the airing if the finale episode. As for Hollie, she didn't get a work visa. She blames Fox, Fox blames her. There's probably more going on than we realize. Hope that helps. They also nearly all had drug or alcohol problems
Nah we’re learning very one is on drugs.
Dave was the best. I remember watching his season and thinking how I NEVER saw GR call him out during dinner service for anything.
I think he was called out once for cooking the wrong garnishes, but other than that he was rock solid.
the best winners in my opinion were
1. Christina Wilson season 10 (evolution through the season was phenomenal)
2. Megan season 14 (brilliant from the get-go)
3. Dave season 6 (broken arm and yet sheer willpower to wi)
4. rock season 3 (Mr dependable from day 1)
5. Paul season 9 (if u can survive Elise u can do anything)
6. Scott season 12 (showed that u can learn and become the best if u put ur mind to it)
7. Michelle season 17. (only 22 and yet proved to be the best amongst her competitors)
Michael is up there just for the quote "you guys cook like old people fuck"
Michelle was 26 when she won.
@@bethetienne5066 lol ok. Thnx for the update 😊
For me Danny is up there. He never made mistakes
@@rabidbasher well his signature dish didn't impress Gordon. Also in the black jackets challenge for making dish for many chefs, Danny's dish came last.
Christina seems to be the most successful of them all so far.
Christina is my favourite, hands down. Absolutely adore her. Such an inspiration. She deserves every bit of her success.
Christina from 10. Nough said. All seasons were great. Rock was great. Christina is my favorite. Hands down. She's made the most in my opinion of her winning.
The amount of deception and drug addiction in this is sad but true
Thats hospitality for you...long hours, hot kitchen atmosphere, stressful customers, less sleep....it kills you
Welcome to the world of hospitality. Nights. Weekends. Holidays.
Season 10 winner Christina is my favorite! She was competing in one of the craziest season and held her own.
That's a pattern for the show they promised them head positions and they never give them to them that's very dishonest
I mean do you really think any restaurant is just gonna give some guy the head chef position just cause he/she won some reality TV contest?
@@sson386 I mean, that is what they are told the winner gets so yes I would think that they would be the head chef at the restaurant they were supposed to be hired at. 🤷♀️🤷♀️🤷♀️🤷♀️🤷♀️
@@sson386 and they're not just any restaurants, they're GR restaurants so he has the ability to make it happen. 🙄
@@sson386 Hells Kitchen is all fake
“Blue” Jay Santos has 5 restaurants and works on Bar Rescue now. I’d say he won without winning!
Same with Jon of season 11. He only got third place but Christina saw his potential and hired him as her sous chef. He’s doing very well and he was my favourite, so I’m happy everything worked out for him
Wait!
Nona has a wife??
I thought she had a husband and a son from that husband!!!
I just googled it and Nona apparently divorced her husband
Nona divorced from her husband sometime in 2013. She’s now remarried.
This threw me off on a loop.
Same here I wonder what happened, in season 11 vs their final 5 Nona looked completely different
Divorced a husband and married a wife. What a rollercoaster.
Well, I am not shock that they move on from this, go to show that this sow was just a fake flop after all, No you want be the head chef but you can be the senior commode cleaner
Raise your hand if you think Petrozza got snubbed in his season. RIP
Dude imagine being promised a head chef position and he tells you you gotta be a line cook or soux chef after you win the show lol
There's fine print, and if you cant cut it when you get there, then you aren't going to be head chef.
You still gotta prove that you can stay the headchef..
It’s strange that the show continually offers a head chef position as the prize but almost no one gets that advertised position
I had a crush on Micheal so bad during his season 😭until i found out he had a wife in the season finale….and all of this. But, I’m glad he’s back on his feet.
What I Want To Know Is What Happened To The Contestant's That Were Offered Mentoring When They Did Not Win Because Gordon Saw Potential In Them
I can’t offer the answers to Mentoring specifically but I know that Jon actually got hired by Ramsey and he admit he made the wrong choice eliminating him, unsure if he’s still working with the man. And Sterling also got offered a job by Ramsey, but instead he decided to work at the Hospital that saved his Adoptive Mother’s life, also unsure where he is now but, undoubtedly he is doing his best.
@@DraconicCatgirl sterling will always be 100
@@DraconicCatgirl Milly got a job with Ramsay. Can't stand the guy. His whole "You can't burn!" tantrum pissed me off.
I would say Christina, Dave and Rock are my all time favourite winner, oh ya and Michelle
The fact of the matter is that almost everyone in the restaurant industry has some sort of addiction problem. It took me a long time to simply realize that I need to get out of the business. Surround yourself with better people.
Not saying that these are bad but hours are long and hard . People deal with this thru addiction.
Raj will never keep quiet if he didn't get the head chef position as advertised.😆
he had a head-in-the-freezer chef position lol
And Joseph still ain’t no bitch, and Kimmie’s still from the south, and Danielle still doesn’t understand the brigade system. 😀😀
Christina has to be one of my fav chef. I love season 10. She really pulls it with all the drama and all the fight within that season. I'm happy to see her going so far!
I’ve actually met and shared the same industrial kitchen with Chef Rock, Queen Mother is actually in Arlington VA not D.C
i had know idea rock was local! i'd love to meet that guy one day. and his food! those chicken sandwiches look next level!😁
@@bluetextonwhitebg oh you definitely have to try it,his food is really good!!
@@Jaycheery thanks! will do.
I don't understand why some of these chef's didn't get the prize they were promised, they knew their level of skill and education before they walked in
Chef Michael, my heart goes out to you. I'm so sorry about your baby.
I was waiting for a video like this in a very long time. My two favourite Hell's Kitchen winners are Danny from Season 5 and Christina from Season 10.
Honestly, La’Tasha and Christina did so well. So proud of them.
I think it’s pretty crappy that these restaurants don’t give the positions they agreed to.
If you’re not up too par, you’re not qualified
Is it me or is it bill crap that the early show talked up the great prizes and then never gave them out. How are they not being sued? I mean I love the show but the prize is what drives almost everyone to compete so hard.
Fine print helps scammers get away with alot
The contestants were misled on jobs
I am shocked that so many of these chefs found that the exec chef position was not offered after they won.
Lol no cocaine in Vegas is like no drinking water
Michael, Danny, and Paul were some of my absolute favorite contestants on the series
Christina all day. Humble, creative, and drama free badass that can cook as any contestant.
Christina W. was the most (and still is) successful, she exceeded the man's standards indeed.
*Dave Levey is my favorite chef.*
Don’t know how holly won on season 7 or Christina from season 4. She was the worst
I have to say, it’s super depressing the amount of winners that did not get what they were promised.
I Agree. It's basically like the show gambled them
Christina is of course one of my faves but I think my favourite is Ryan from S16! S16 was the first season I watched and I remember seeing the first few episodes thinking "yup she's gonna get it". She did amazing on her season!
Chef Christine Wilson is my favorite!
Dave is my favourite winner of all time. Love that guy and he deserves everything good that may come to him.
Season 7 winner Holli has got a point when she said that Hells Kitchen is just all for show
So....we DON'T want to win Hell's Kitchen?? I love the show, binge watch it from start to finish over and over. But damn
@@bend7726 So Gordon Ramsay lied about most of the prizes
@@shivramkarthik2882 I wouldn’t say Gordon lied but more so the producers or restaurants that have given him the information for the winner. Everyone knows this has been an issue for years. Some restaurants pulled out at the last minute because of the “drama” on tv and they didn’t want certain chefs to run their kitchen. That’s why Gordon starting using his own restaurants as rewards last time I checked.
@@Naomi-bx8ou And out of all them, Christina was the only winner ever to work in a Gordon Ramsay restaurant
did you not watch the entire video? Some just couldnt cut it.
I was so happy that Holly & Nona won. They beat two horrible bullies who didn't deserve to run a soup kitchen.
Nona beat Russell? That guy was a douche. "ItS mY FuCkIn DaY"
In Nonas case, I think that's the reason why she won. Because the other contestant was just too much of a bully with an unlikable personality the showrunners just couldn't let him win even though he was the better chef.
I don't think they ever get to actually be "head chef" as a prize, so I agree it was kind of false advertising to say they would.
Cheif Rock: What would you like to order?
Me: 1 Large...
Cheif Rock: It doesn't matter what you want to order!!!
Cheif?? 🤔
Micheal Wray life is like a Hollywood movie 🍿 what a legend and a badass
I admit, Holli get pretty screwed over. First, being forced to accept a lower position than promised. Second, to have the whole thing taken away when the UK wouldn't give her a working visa.
considering she shouldnt have won in the first place? ya, fuck that
It doesn't matter. Sterling will always be 100%!
Exactly
It may be easy to judge the chefs with addiction problems, but there are reasons as to why drugs are so prominent in the food service industry. These people work insanely long hours on their feet and they aren't paid well for it. No, they aren't being forced to do drugs, but there needs to be better working conditions in the food service industry.
Yes. Very rough on the family. Nights. Weekends. Holidays.
Ariel Malone did a terrible job and couldn't work with anyone. I don't know how/why she got the prize.
wokeness
The fact that most don’t get their position really sucks and questionable
@Altema are you stupid? The position was promised to them as part of winning the show
@Altema bro, the positions are literally advertised as the prize. More than half of these winners only worked at the “positions” they won for a short amount of time
I would love to know what Motto from Rookies vs. vets is doing now. He's my favorite contestant behind Dave and Christina
I loved him. Was really sad when he quit. Think he had a hell of a good chance of winning.
@Rebecca McDermott he definitely had a chance of being the runner up, but I think Ariel had it in the bag.
@@alidk5701 oh, she definitely did. Loved her way back in season 6 so I was really happy she won.
@Rebecca McDermott agreed, motto and the runner up (I forgot her name) were really talented but they didn't seem ready to be executive chefs.
@@alidk5701 Mia. She definitely wasn't ready to be an executive chef.
The fact Dave bounced back even after the arrest just shows how good of a comeback he can make 😢
Because he was released without any drug charges as he was innocent. Google it ! Ahha 😹
This video could've been 3 seconds long just by saying, "They know who they are, and they can speak for themselves."
Most don't renew their contact afterwards (lower pay, possibly different position.)
They can choose to not take the job, get a $150,000 lump sum payment, taxed as prize money, but still do a ton of PR work as to make it look like they work there.
