Who would give this a thumbs down? I started playing drums at 12, with Neil Peart, I’m 49 now. His independence is unreal, I bet Dream Theater are kicking themselves in the ass for not letting him in the band. My favorite drummer on earth behind Neil Peart, Stewart Copeland, Steve Gadd, the guy is great. BTW, you look exactly like my brother 😂
I attended a clinic in 2004 featuring TL - amazing drummer & he explained that even though drums are one of the oldest instruments, the drum set continues to evolve with all sorts of configurations & sound choices, as opposed to a wind or string instrument for example, & with 4 limb independence there are many percussive patterns to explore.
I live in Germany and have had a chance to see Thomas Lang a couple times live. I must say, he is a machine and sometimes seems almost inhuman. Good pick . Try Trilok Gurtu and be amazed !
I know you recently did Neil Peart, but since he passed away maybe you could do another one? The drum solo from all the world's a stage would be nice. :)
I'll correct myself and say the one from Exit stage left. Edit: I'll correct myself and just say I'll let you pick whatever you want, as I don't know what I want lol. Doesn't really matter.

My favorite drummer/musician for sure Garey. His skill set is so remarkable and so entertaining I am sure for all drummers on this planet, and what a nice humble man too. Thanks Garey. It would be great if you could do a tribute reaction to the late Great "Neil Peart."
Part human. Part machine. Well, mostly machine. Feet as fast and precise as his hands. Mind-boggling talent and musicality. For us mere mortals this may be of some comfort: when seeing Thomas play grooves in a band situation, he sounds like a drummer -- a really good drummer albeit -- but rather than the technical master he so freakishly is, a drummer working a gig. Dream. Practice. But chopping wood and keeping time will always be what the band and audience desire.
Would love to see you react to Stan Bicknell’s drumming. I’m a guitarist, and I was lucky enough to catch Stan Bicknell’s playing at a drum festival. I learnt what a moeller system/technique is, and it’s usually practiced on the hands as you mentioned. This guy does it on his feet and demonstrated why he uses it rather than double or single strokes - something to do with maintaining dynamics.. and it does sound fantastic!!
Love your analysis. Drum solos can get tedious sometimes (not in this case, I agree its quite musical), and you make them so enjoyable, particularly by demonstrating how to play them! Thanks. I have a request. Morgan Agren. There are several videos floating in UA-cam, your choice, or would be happy to recommend.

@MorbidManMusic Are you really calling Virgil and Thomas sterile, they're playing is more involved more intricate more advanced than most drummers walking the planet, far from sterile.
Just discovered your videos yesterday. Fun to watch and the analysis are very solid! I was lucky enough to meet Thomas personally in Brazil after his Masterclass in São Paulo. What a cool guy! And after his workshop, I felt like garbage haha, the worst drummer in the world. Just saying. Man, the guy is unique and I believe he is the most advanced/technical drummer out there. Cheers mate! A drummer you definitely NEED to check is TODD SUCHEMAN from Styx on his PHENOMENAL drum solo at DRUMEO.
To truly understand gavin one needs to be able to pay attention to the small details. Like the way he plays a ghost note or when he plays quarter notes on a ride cymbal when most people would play 8th notes. He does these little things that make a big difference. And a lot of people dont hear that kind of stuff. They want a big 1000 hit RIP down the Tom's or blast beats on the kick drum. All that flashy stuff that gavin can do but chooses not too. That's what really.makes gavin the best ever in my opinionNo doubt, it's all about the overall song which is why I love him. He tries to find gaps in the song where he can do something small to embellish the rest of the song and it's always so tasty.
Hi there is so much hype about the drummer for the band TOOL nowdays. I really would like to see your reaction to his drumming. I love hearing drummers play but have no talent myself ( i am 60 yrs old, too late to learn). But i love your videos. Also interested in hearing YOU play. 👍✌️❤️
you're probably already familiar with him, but a Carter Beauford solo reaction would be cool, just like one of the top ones when he's live with DMB...and a couple great players you might not be familiar with are former The Mars Volta drummers, Deantoni Parks and Thomas Pridgen
Hello Mr. Garey! Would it be possible for you to react to Thomas Lang's song "Time"? I love and enjoy the content on Your channel, there is something soothing about listening to people who know their stuff. All the best ! :)

He's great. However, it seems to me, he not too concerned with "the groove"or staying in "the pocket". As a result, I feel he "rushes" ever so slightly and *for me* I am not on board with his "feel". But he certainly is amazing. Dennis Chambers, please.
I get what ur sayin, I find his solos very like an exercise, minneman solos appeal to me more, or weckl, matt garstka too, especially in gem, with the bassist from dirty loops and this utterly amazing pianist

T. Lang have a great and advanced technique but is not a musician. He is a technician! Near No grove! He is much more a artist like in circus then a musician and in my view completely overestimated! Thomas is such a wizard! A trust master of the craft. He's just on an other level!
What an amazing technician.
T Lang is an educated classical musician from music academy in Vienna. This is the least he can do 😀
